A Christian can be enslaved to sin and still be saved, but that's not the Christian life. Real Christianity means internal freedom, victory, and peace in Christ, even when external struggles continue.
I'm gonna say something now that might seem somewhat offensive, but let me qualify it once I say it. If you are in bondage, you're not living the Christian life. Now notice I did not say that if you're in bondage, you're not a Christian, because that's not what I'm saying. The Christian life is one of freedom, one of victory. The Christian life is filled with joy and peace and patience and love. This doesn't mean that you'll never have any struggles. It simply means that victory is yours in Christ despite how you feel. Victory is yours in Christ despite what your circumstances say to you. And so, So when we as believers understand that the victory we have is internal, then we realize that no matter what comes against us, we have freedom within.
