Hard work builds character and strength, not just burnout. The speaker cites Colossians 3:23-24 to argue that work is worship, and doing your job with full effort, as if serving God rather than a boss, matters because God sees and rewards diligence.

Let's be clear, hard work isn't toxic. Being a hard worker is honorable, and it's actually good for you. Now, culture tells us that we should flee at the first sign of pressure, but what does God say? While we must acknowledge that there is such a thing as being overworked to an unhealthy extreme, and even that sometimes work environments are so unhealthy that you should go elsewhere, we have to also remember that it's good for us to be stretched beyond what we think we can handle. You can't grow stronger without resistance. You gain strength of character as you lift the weight of responsibility. In fact, work can be an act of worship. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. That's Colossians 3:23-24. If the company you work for overlooks you, if your boss is difficult, if your coworkers are disagreeable, remember that nothing do is wasted. You've heard it said, minimum wage, minimum effort. But the Bible teaches us, as unto the Lord, so maximum effort. Be diligent, work hard. God sees everything.
