God's voice sounds different to different people: loving, stern, deep, like many waters. The Bible shows it both soft and loud, not contradictions but proof that divine communication is multifaceted. You can't pin it down with adjectives alone, like trying to identify a loved one in a crowd by description.

What do you believe God sounds like? Some say he speaks lovingly. Others emphasize his sternness. Still, someone else might say his voice is a deep knowing. The Bible even describes his voice as sounding like many waters. So what should we be listening for? This is where I think we should acknowledge that God's voice eludes description. For example, in 1 Kings 19:11-13, God's voice is described as not being in the fire and soft. But then in Deuteronomy 5:22, God's voice is described as being in the fire and loud. Is this a contradiction? No. God speaks in many ways, and people describe his voice according to their experiences. So we shouldn't try to reduce God's voice to a single formula or description. Think of someone close to you. This could be a spouse or a sibling or a close friend, whoever you know well. Now, I want you to hear their voice in your mind. You know their voice because you know them well and hear them often. You can hear their cadence, tone, volume and unique qualities. Now, if I were to ask you to describe their voice to me, what words would you use? Perhaps you might say their voice is high or deep, raspy or smooth, authoritative or timid. Here's the problem. Though you would be able to give me helpful descriptions of their voice, I wouldn't be able to pick their voice out of a crowd of hundreds of people. I might be able to guess, but I wouldn't be able to know their voice for certain. In the same way, when we try to hear God's voice based on the descriptions others give We set ourselves up for failure and life-altering mistakes. So the solution? Look to God's Word. The Word of God is the foundation upon which we build our knowing of His voice. Then trust God to know how to get through to you when He desires.
