What God Knows About You that Others Don't

Jeremiah Tipton teaches that God knows three things others don't: your hidden compromises, your small acts of faithfulness that go unnoticed, and your trivial prayers and struggles. He uses biblical passages and stories like a girl with alopecia to show how God notices what feels too insignificant to matter.

I want to talk to you about what God knows about you that others don't. Many believers imagine that God is off in the distance and that he's not a personal God who's involved with our everyday lives. As I share this message, I believe that the Holy Spirit will cultivate in your heart a greater appreciation for God's love for you, because you've not been forgotten. You've not been overlooked. You've not been cast aside. I know that when we face trials, sometimes it can feel that way. When it seems like our prayers aren't being answered, sometimes it can feel as though God is overlooking us, like he set us to the side, like he's forgotten about us. But God delights in every detail of your life. He knows things about you that others don't, because the little things matter to God. If you believe that, I want you to type in the comment section right now, He knows my name. Just type that as a statement of faith, even if you're not feeling that as of late, even if you feel forgotten, overlooked, rejected. I want you to, despite your feelings, type that statement of faith. And I truly do believe that the Lord brought you to this moment. I truly believe that peace is going to be imparted. Maybe your mind is troubled. You're going to receive peace. Maybe you've been feeling this heaviness, this sadness. I believe the Holy Spirit is going to fill you with joy. Maybe you've been confused in the mind. You feel aimless, like you don't have a direction in which you should go. I believe the Holy Spirit is going to bring direction and clarity as you hear this wonderful truth about how God is involved in our everyday lives and that he cares for you. So number 1, God knows about the little compromises. These are things that God knows about you that others do not. The first thing is God knows about the compromises. He looks at you with all-seeing eyes. He sees your secrets. He sees your motives. He sees the inner workings of your heart. He knows your thoughts. What you think, he sees. It's as plain as day to him. And he looks at you with his all-seeing eyes. He looks at you With his omniscience, and he's able to know you in totality. And the one who knows you better than anyone else knows you loves you like no one else loves you. He's an all-loving God, and he cares for you. Now, we understand he's just and he has wrath towards sin, of course, but I'm talking to his children now, those whom he loves, so he corrects. He knows the compromises. He knows the secrets. But this isn't a message of condemnation. This is a message of hope and correction. Let me read something to you here. In Song of Solomon chapter 2, verse 15, the scripture declares, catch all the foxes, those little foxes, before they ruin the vineyard of love, for the grapevines are blossoming. Now, the Song of Solomon, for those of you who didn't know, Is a prophetic picture, a parallel of Christ and his bride, the church. And so in these conversations, we catch glimpses of divine love, of divine life, and we see a warning written: catch all the foxes, those little foxes, before they ruin the vineyard of love. Those little things that you let slip by. Can damage your relationship with God. I don't mean to say that God will reject you or turn away from you. Of course, if you're His child, He'll correct you and draw you in. He doesn't excuse sin, He corrects sin. But when I say damage your relationship with God, what I mean by that is, if you are living in guilt and shame, it's very difficult to receive of the love of God because you don't see yourself as worthy. If you're living in sin and darkness, then you're going to be very uncomfortable when it comes to thinking about the things of God, because you're convicted, because you're filled with shame. Well, think about how after you've committed a sin that you promised you would never do again, how immediately after that, the most difficult thing to do is open the Bible, or to go and be alone with the Lord and pray, or to go and attend church. Or maybe you've made a mistake and it's difficult for you to stand in the middle of a worship service and lift your hands. That's shame working in you. That's that condemnation working in you. And this is why we have to be careful, because if we allow compromise into our lives, what that's going to do is it's going to affect our ability to receive of and believe in the love of God. It's very difficult to believe in the love of God when you're walking in shame. This is why I believe that grace and forgiveness are the most powerful forces that work against sin. So grace doesn't empower you to live however you want. Grace doesn't excuse your wrongdoing. Rather, grace is God's empowering presence and ability within you to resist the wrongdoing. But how many of us have those little things in our lives where we let them go because they haven't done what we think is major damage yet? Let me tell you something. Those little foxes are destroying the vineyard of love. Those little compromises are affecting you in more ways than you realize. You may think nobody sees what you're doing. You may think you're getting away with it. And to some degree, maybe you are. Maybe nobody does know, except for the Lord, of course. Maybe none of your friends know about the compromises in your heart and in your mind. Maybe your spouse doesn't know about the secrets you're keeping. Maybe your children don't see the motives and the internal dysfunction. Well, God does, number one. But even though those around you don't see it, that doesn't mean they're not affected by it. Because that sin, that compromise, begins to affect you in the very core of who you are, to where you're saying things, doing things, to where you're not saying things and not doing things based upon this compromise that's working in you. And so, while it's possible to have a form of godliness, while it's possible to wear the facade so that others aren't able to see what's happening, People will be able to see that something is just not quite right. Maybe in the way you speak. Maybe in the way you're acting a little bit different now. Maybe in the way you allow certain things you wouldn't have allowed before. Maybe in the way you gossip about others. Or maybe the way you lash out in anger. Or maybe in the way you're always moping and moody. Look, we could go on all day about the way that sin manifests itself. But even if others don't see the sin itself, God does. And even if others don't know what you're doing in darkness, that doesn't mean that you're not being affected in a way that's affecting your relationship with others. Sin damages us from the inside out. So catch those little foxes before they ruin the vineyard of love. Catch those little compromises before they become something that's so big that it feels like you're spinning out of control. It's a great lie that many believe that they can keep their sin in check, that they can keep their sin small enough to be a pet, and they believe that it will never grow large enough to be their master. They think they're keeping a pet when actually they're becoming prey. And so you got to catch those foxes. And that's the thing about foxes is they'll slip by, and they're little foxes, so you may not notice them if you're not being vigilant. So here we're being given a picture of not just removing the compromise, but also a picture of being so vigilant as to catch the little foxes on their way in, so that you're not allowing those things to slip in. Maybe it comes in just as in a thought. Maybe it comes in just in a conversation. Maybe it comes just as a craving. Maybe it comes just as an entertained memory. Listen, a message on social media today to somebody you shouldn't be talking to can quickly become tomorrow's adultery. Today's social media message can become tomorrow's adultery. Today's vice can become tomorrow's addiction. Today's private sin can become tomorrow's public shame. Catch all the little foxes before they spoil the vine, the vineyard of your love. Now, the Lord sees those things even when others don't. That's number one. And he sees the compromises, and he cares for those things because they break his heart. Ephesians 4:30 tells us not to grieve the Holy Spirit by the way we live. So when we sin, not only are we damaging the vineyard of love, Not only are we being affected in our nature, in our character, in our hearts, and in our minds, but we are also grieving the precious Holy Spirit. And there's nothing more heartbreaking than that. So he cares about the little things because the little things can cause big problems, and he sees the compromises when no one else sees them. Number 2, God sees the small acts of faithfulness. You ever feel like you're being overlooked? Like you bend over backwards for people only to be cast to the side? Like you go out of your way for everyone else and people don't seem to even consider you in the smallest way? Or maybe you feel like you're constantly lending an ear to others for them to vent so that you can be there for them. You're constantly checking up on others. How are you doing? How are you? How's your family? How are your children? You're constantly helping others through generosity and prayer and encouragement and checking up on them, but it seems like nobody does that for you. And if you're not careful, number one, that can create this disillusionment, this disappointment that can quickly become bitterness. So be careful about that. But the point I'm making here is that even when others overlook it, God sees it. This is why the Scripture tells us to do everything as unto the Lord. Why? Because ultimately, the lives that we live each day can be presented to Him as an offering. And when we present our lives in that way, we can say to the Lord, Lord, here is the way I live my life today. Here is the way that I chose my thoughts and my actions and my conversations. And now I gather all of my choices from today, and almost like you gather all of your choices like you're gathering a bouquet, and you present it to the Lord at the end of the day as an honor offering, and you say, Lord, in my life be glorified. May today have been an offering unto you. Well, can we say that if ultimately we're doing it for the praises of man? You see, sometimes we say And I'm just going to be honest with you, sometimes we say we're doing it for God's glory, and then when people forget to compliment us or thank us, we take that to heart. Why? Because yes, we understand we do things for God's glory, but there will always be a part of the flesh, the sin nature, that desires to be esteemed and looked to as important. Now, I'm not saying that you should never receive a compliment, and I'm not saying that it's wrong to want to be acknowledged in these ways. But I'm saying that in all of that, we have to remember that ultimately everything that we do is unto His glory, for the expansion of His kingdom, for the sake of His name, so that when even others overlook those small acts of faithfulness, God sees. In Matthew chapter 13, verses 31 through 33, the Bible says here is another illustration Jesus used, and Jesus said the kingdom of heaven Is like a mustard seed planted in a field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants. It grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches. So here we see Jesus talking about the nature of the kingdom of heaven, namely that what begins as something small ultimately becomes something great. Think about how the Lord Jesus took 12 apostles Well, eventually it became 11, but they did replace them. And they turned the world upside down with the message of the gospel. Well, that began as something seemingly small. That was a seed that ultimately became a tree. And so those little acts that you do, those little acts of faithfulness to your spouse— because by the way, God cares about how you treat your spouse. God cares about how you treat your children. God cares about how you treat your finances. God cares about how you treat your property. God cares about how you treat your friends. God cares about how you serve in the ministry that he gave you to steward. And what you're doing is you're planting those seeds, and each seed planted is unto the glory of God. Now, it may look small, and sometimes that can be frustrating because at the beginning it's as if you're saying, I almost don't want to even get started because of the great project that seems to be before me. But this is why you have to just do the next thing. Don't look at it in the big picture all the time, because that can become overwhelming. Sometimes you have to just take it day by day, moment by moment. You know, God's call for your life— I want you to hear this— God's call for your life is ultimately fulfilled in the daily small acts of obedience. And so we look at the destiny we have in God as some overwhelming responsibility that we have to hit with 100% precision that we have to fulfill now, that we have to make sure we make no mistakes ever moving forward. No, it's not, it's not like that. It's simply daily trust and obedience toward the Lord Jesus and walking as you trust and obey. It's going to be impossible to miss your destiny. But that's where it gets frustrating because we see the small, but God sees the potential. We see the beginning, and that's our limit, isn't it? We can see the beginning, and we can see the now, but we can never see the end. We can see the seed being planted. God ultimately sees what will grow. And that's the difference between us and God. We think in trees. God thinks in seeds. That's the nature of the kingdom. Number one, he has to do it that way because he needs to be able to entrust us with the greater responsibilities. Why is he going to give you? You know, what is it called? Why is he going to give you a sprout if you haven't been faithful with the seed? Why is he going to give you a tree if you haven't been faithful with the sprout? You have to be faithful in every season because if you get now what you want for the future, if you were handed everything that you see in the vision, if you were handed everything that you see in the divinely inspired dream that God gave to you, if you were given all of that right now. The weight of that responsibility would crush you. You know, I often look back at different intervals of the ministry. Now, I'm young and I'm just getting started in ministry, technically speaking, but this isn't to say that I haven't been through some seasons where I can look back and see the faithfulness of God. I've seen his hand move. And it's interesting to me because I look back at my former self and knowing what I know now about the responsibility of this phase of ministry, I know that if God were to give me yesterday, years ago, what I carry today in terms of responsibilities, I would have been crushed under the weight emotionally, mentally. I would have been physically exhausted. So we think in trees. God, I'm praying for the tree, and then he hands you a seed and you go, oh well, this isn't what I wanted. But here's the thing: you're praying for trees. God will put seeds in your hands. And this is why he knows those little acts of faithfulness. He pays attention to those things. We may be overlooked by man. Maybe your pastor overlooks you. That could be the hand of God. Maybe he's not— maybe God's not ready to raise you to certain places yet. So instead of getting mad at your pastor, you should say, okay, Lord, where do I stand with you? And so God gives us these small deposits, and he watches to see how we handle what he's given to us. This is the law of stewardship. You take care of what you have like it's what you want, and God will bring the increase. And that increase is not a reward. That increase is a responsibility. And we are servants. And so he gives to us these responsibilities. And as we are faithful in the daily, as we are faithful in the seemingly mundane, then God begins to add to our responsibilities as time goes on. But he's watching those small acts of faithfulness. So let me encourage you, Pastor. If you're pastoring a church and you feel like it's getting stuck in terms of growth, keep going. God sees what no one else sees. If you're a Christian content creator and you're putting videos out and you're not getting any views, keep going. God sees what no one else can see. You're a parent who's trying to disciple your child, but you're running into a difficult patch with them. Keep going. God sees what no one else sees. In every aspect of life, in every sphere of responsibility, God sees what no one else sees. And that faithfulness that, that you demonstrate is going to ultimately bring about a greater increase in responsibility. And so God sees certain things about you that no one else does, and that's not to discourage you, that's to encourage you. Do it as unto the Lord. So number one, God sees the small compromises, and he cares about those small compromises because small compromises can become absolutely destructive to your life. Number two, God sees those small acts of faithfulness that others constantly overlook, and he cares about those small acts of faithfulness because small acts of faithfulness ultimately bring about Great increase in responsibility. Now number three, this one I'm about to share with you, I think you're going to find especially encouraging because I don't think many of us think about God in these terms. In the first two, yeah, we think about that—the guy in the sky who can see my sin, or the man in the sky who rewards my good deeds, right? That's how many people see God, and sometimes they choose either or as opposed to both and, and they they they fall into those extreme perspectives. But number 3, I think, is key. And I really want you to consider— if you hear anything I say, I want you to hear this. Number 3. Number 3, God sees the things that matter to you. Now, when I say something like this, automatically, if you come from a background that's legalistic in nature, you're going to be triggered, as they say. I don't necessarily like that word, but I think you're going to have a strong reaction. to me telling you that God cares about the little things in your life? Because we have this weird mindset that's not founded on biblical principles whatsoever. We have this strange idea that we've accepted, and when I say we, I mean many parts of the body of Christ. Many people in the body of Christ have accepted this very strange idea that to ask God for the little things is ridiculous, that to ask God for a personal prayer request is immature, Or selfish, or somehow a demonstration of doubt. Listen, we have a Heavenly Father who loves us, and we are His children, and He loves us with an everlasting love. Yes, I believe in preaching against sin. Yes, I believe in preaching on the righteousness of God, the judgment of God. Yes, I believe that God is storing up wrath against all ungodliness. We understand that, okay? That's true. But we mustn't also forget— excuse me, we mustn't forget About his love for us too. To say that Jesus loves you isn't a compromise. It's not a watering down of truth. It is the truth. And think about the fact that those of you who have children, you're willing to give them good gifts and you don't mind them asking for things. You don't mind them making requests of you. Yes, you want them to ask for food. Yes, you don't mind if they want a bed to sleep in and clothes to wear. Those are the needs. But you also don't mind buying them some ice cream now and then. Maybe they see a toy that they like and you can't get it right away, but you wait, you save up, and you get them that toy that they like. Now, this may seem childish. This may seem like— again, again, if, if, if you're coming from that legalistic mindset, this sounds like a watering down of the gospel to you. It's actually a more Holistic view. It's more of a complete view of who God is, because that's who He is. God taking care of you doesn't require that He removes the blessing from someone else. See, we have a scarcity mentality. We think that God is running low on resources. So we say things like, Lord, I don't really need the job. Just take care of others. They have it worse. Or Lord, I really don't need to have my car repaired. Take care of someone else. who has it worse. Maybe they don't even have a car. And that's good to consider others. Don't hear what I'm not saying. You absolutely should consider the needs of others, and we should be generous in helping to meet those needs. But this idea that God has to take from someone else in order to give to you is just not biblical. You can ask for the little things because he cares about the little things. There is no miracle so big that God cannot do it. And there is no miracle so small that God will not do it. The Bible says, Psalm 37:23-24, the Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fail, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Matthew 10:29-31, are not 2 sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care. And even the very hairs of your head are numbered. So don't be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows. 1 Peter 5:7, cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. He cares about the little things. I'll never forget seeing a young girl from the Midwest She suffered from what's called alopecia, and that is severe hair loss. Now, when you hear about alopecia, maybe not all of us, but some of us might be tempted to say something like, "Well, that's not as bad as cancer," or "That's not as bad as heart disease," or "That's not as bad as fill in the blank with a very severe disease." And so some might be offended at the little girl's prayer, and they might say, "Well, you know." It's really not that bad. And they'll say things that are real insensitive, like, you could just wear a hat, or maybe you could just get a wig. But I want you to really think about this. A little girl who is growing, who's learning her way through the world, and she's starting to develop an image of self and what she thinks about herself, and she's comparing herself to other little girls, and, and she doesn't feel pretty because her hair is falling out. You don't think God cares about that? And that girl today has a thick head of hair. The Lord healed her. It was a miracle. But cynics, religious people might say, well, that's just ridiculous. Oh, so God healed her alopecia, but he wouldn't heal cancer? Look, God is sovereign. He does what he will. But to say that God has to choose between one or the other, that's a false dichotomy. And it is, again, coming from this scarcity mentality, as if God is running low on miracles. He cares about that little girl. He cares about the little things. He cares about those things that stress you out that others look at and say, well, you need to get over it. Well, you're just, you're just being dramatic. No, some people are, are being dramatic. We, we acknowledge that. But you do realize that God cares about the details in your life. You do realize, right, that he— He loves you so much as his child that he's willing to look into the details for you. Again, it's not a lack of faith to ask. It's not, it's not doubt to ask. It's not immature to ask. It's not selfish to ask. He cares for you. He cares about those little details. What does God see in you that no one else sees? He sees those desires that go unmet. He sees those prayers that you whisper under your breath, the ones that you may maybe feel are not worth others' time or not worth even uttering aloud. He sees those little things. He cares about the insecurity. He cares about the intrusive thoughts. He cares about the painful memories of the past. He cares about the doubts. He cares about the confusion. He cares about those little things. I remember one time I was walking through an airport, very expensive food at the airport. Everything is marked up because they know they have you. And I was very conscious at that time, probably more, more so than I should have been, because sometimes you can take things to an extreme. At that time, I was in a very extreme mindset about health, and I just refused to eat anything else And for some reason, I thought a granola bar was healthy. I don't know if it is or isn't to this day, but at the time, in my mind, a granola bar was healthy. And so I remember walking through the airport, I was starving. The food was either too expensive or it was too unhealthy. And so I just uttered this prayer out loud to the Lord. I said, Lord, I could really use a granola bar right about now. You know those ones that when you open them, The crumbs just immediately fall everywhere and you have to vacuum. It was one of those. And so I just uttered the prayer. It wasn't anything major. I didn't fall on my face in the airport. I just— it's just a whispered prayer. I said it out loud. And so I get on the airplane, and the gentleman who was sitting next to me settles in, starts rummaging through his bag, and he Elbows me slightly, just nudges my side with his elbow, and he pulls out a granola bar and he says, would you like one? I said, absolutely I would. And all I could do was eat that granola bar and smile because the Lord was delighting in the little details of my life. The very hairs on your head are numbered. He cares for you. So number one, He sees all the compromises, and He wants to help you correct those because those small compromises can be destructive. Number two, He sees all of those acts of faithfulness. Even when others overlook you, He sees them. Why? Because those acts of faithfulness are ultimately going to be rewarded with greater levels of responsibility. And number three, He sees those little prayers, those desires you have in your heart that Maybe you're too embarrassed to utter aloud. They're seemingly insignificant. He cares for those. He sees those because He delights in every detail of our lives. Now, I want to pray with you in just a moment, and I want you to ask the Lord to help you be aware of what He's aware of. In other words, to recognize that He's not a God off in the distance. He's near to the brokenhearted. He's near to you right now. He hasn't forgotten you. You're not overlooked. You're not unimportant. You've not been cast to the side. He cares for you. If no one else does, the Lord cares. So Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift that one to you now who feels distant from you, who Who feels as though they've been overlooked and like you don't see them. I thank you, first of all, Lord, that you've brought them to this moment, that you ordained this moment here and now to remind them that you care for them. Touch their lives. And precious Holy Spirit, I pray this over them now. In those moments where they feel overlooked, Holy Spirit, remind them of This word. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Type it in the comments if you agree. Amen. If you think others need to hear this message, make sure to leave a like on this stream right now to help spread the word. Also, I want to stay connected with you, so make sure you subscribe to my channel so that you can continue to receive the teachings on the Holy Spirit, prayer, and spiritual warfare, as well as the video footage of the power of the Holy Ghost moving At the events that we host around the world. And now, people of God, I want to invite you to take a step of faith with me. Typically, this is the part where people log off, so I want to challenge you to continue watching just for another minute or so. I'm thankful that you've received the word. I'm thankful that you were blessed, but I want to challenge you here to resist the urge now to click on kind of what's next. You know, sometimes we do that. We see the other thumbnails. Just stay focused here for a moment. And hear this challenge. I know that the enemy is working overtime in this season to pump fear into the hearts of God's people. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. Now remember, fear grips, faith releases. Fear holds, faith gives. I want to remind you that no matter what the world is saying, God is in control. Listen, so-called experts for years now, for centuries, so-called experts have been crying out that the sky is falling and it's yet to hit the ground. And I understand that the economies of the world are being shaken. I understand that there are troubles with all different kinds of currency, and people are looking at things like job markets and economic predictions and so forth. Look, I understand, be wise, that's all wonderful. But even in exercising wisdom, don't forget faith. This is something I've learned a long time ago, that in those seasons where I feel that fear trying to grip my heart, I shake the fear off by performing an act of faith. And so I want to challenge you to live in faith, not in fear, and go right now to support this work financially. You will not lack. The Lord will provide. Think of all the things, even in what they say is a bad economy, think of all the things that you still give your resources to: entertainment, streaming services, apps, time, you know, going out, the movies, and so forth. Will you also support the gospel? We, as the people of God, have a responsibility to continue to support the work. The devil's not taking a vacation, so neither should we.
