God punishes believers for restoration, not rejection. The Holy Spirit works within you to reveal your new identity as a creation in Christ, guiding you toward righteousness through conviction and the spirit's presence.
For the believer, God's punishment is always about restoration, never about rejection. So while correcting you, the Holy Spirit is still working to bring out your true nature. If any man be in Christ, he's a new creation. All things have become new. The new you is the real you. He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him. So out of that new nature, we begin to live, and he's convicting you of that righteousness. To learn more about the Holy Spirit, get Holy Spirit: God Within You at encounterthespirit.com.
