The Holy Spirit isn't a reward you earn by behaving well or lose when you sin. The speaker argues the Spirit indwells you permanently from conversion and is your only source of holiness, the power that actually enables you to be good. Jesus promised the Spirit will never abandon you.
Remember this, the Holy Spirit is not a reward for holiness. Far too many Christians imagine that the Holy Spirit comes closer as they do well, and then he takes steps backwards as they make mistakes. But the Holy Spirit doesn't work like that. When the Holy Spirit came to dwell in you, he came to dwell in the fullness of his power, and he united with you. So that now your spirit is one with the Holy Spirit so that when you make a mistake, it may feel like the Holy Spirit says, well, you know what, you've messed up one too many times. Now I gotta pack up and leave. Now, Jesus promised that when the Holy Spirit came to abide with you and when the Holy Spirit united with you, that he would never again leave you or abandon you. Ask yourself this question: what sense would it make for God to remove from you your only power to be holy as a punishment The Holy Spirit's the only chance you have. He's not your trophy for being good. He's the only way you'll ever be good, and he's the only way you'll ever even desire to be good. I'm so grateful for the Holy Spirit.
