A brief conversational excerpt where Jim Johnson identifies and confirms characteristics of an "impact-driven leader," listing traits such as vulnerability, authenticity, genuineness, service orientation, celebrating others' success, and empathy. The other speaker affirms his characterization.
I've been listening to the conversation and it feels like you're sharing some characteristics of an impact driven leader. They're vulnerable, they're authentic, they're genuine, they're service oriented, they celebrate the success of others. Am I on the right track?
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, I forgot empathy. Got to have that one too.
Empathy is key. I think a part of it in this is embracing your fears and insecurities because you're never going to be able to remove them. You just have to embrace them, own how they show up, how, how they affect people. And then you're never going to remove them, but you're going to be able to change your mindset and beliefs about them. Hey, my insecurity is that I don't have value. My insecurity is that I, I don't have value for people. So what will I do? And so it comes back to, you know, as you mentioned earlier, when you're willing to recognize that, hey, my job is to help you do your job better. It isn't about what I know or what I can do, it's how I can serve you.
