A short coaching-video monologue by Jim Johnson (head coach, Contractor Coach Pro) recorded at a networking event in Dallas. Johnson urges contractors to leave their "bubble" by attending mentor groups and networking events to learn practical solutions (e.g., handling rising labor/material costs) and collect actionable ideas to improve their businesses.

Hey, guys, this is Jim Johnson here, the head coach at Contractor Coach Pro. With day three of being disciplined to giving you guys some coaching moments, helping you with your businesses, hopefully helping you grow in your business, get better at what you do. And today I am here in Dallas, Texas, at what they call the Cowboy Star, I believe, and I am going to April Hall's SRC networking event. That's what I want to talk about today, is this idea of networking and getting out of our bubble, getting out of our box, taking the blinders off and learning it from other people, seeing what they do, how they do it. Who knows, we might even gain a little tidbit, a little bit of information that helps us with our own business. We know that it's important here at Contractor Coach Pro to not get caught up in thinking that we know it all, that we've got everything figured out. So we like to go to events like this, make sure that we are listening to what's currently happening in the world out there, seeing how people are dealing with the struggles, whether it be rising labor prices, material prices, unavailability of materials. What can we do to solve those problems and bringing that information back and maybe helping you guys out with it so that we're great coaches and we can learn from that as contractors out there in the world as well. Hey, go find a mentor group, go to networking events, get outside of the walls of your business and the way that you do things and learn from others. It's amazing, the little tidbits you'll pick up, the little golden nuggets that you'll get that you can add to your war chest and your strategy that will move your business forward. So make sure to consistently, don't just do it once, consistently. Get out there and learn from the others out there, the industry that may have gone before you. It's a great way to get ahead. We'll talk to you guys later.
