Jim Johnson says roofing contractors who install solar need to handle it themselves, not just subcontract it out. Adding electricity to roofs creates fire hazards. Contractors who only sell solar without technical skills are exposed.

So I do think that roofing contractors have to do the work. They have to understand the products, do the research and make sure that their team internally can install the products. They're not just selling it like you like you referenced earlier. If you're just a sales organization and you don't have the technical know how to install the products or maintain and service the products then you can get into trouble because you're relying, you know, on that subcontractor or that third party to, you know, service the product and tell you what's going on. Like you need to know and make you look good or bad. Exactly. You need to know exactly what's going on because there's a lot of parts and components. You know you're introducing electricity to a roof. Right? There's a lot of things that can go wrong, fire hazards, all that. So roofing contractors are really good at weatherization. Solar companies are good at making connections and installing solar. So you got to blend the two.
