Jim Johnson tests roofing boots that grip asphalt, metal, and glass better than expected. He rates them excellent on 10/12 slopes but wouldn't replace Cougar Paws on steeper pitches.

The day that I flew out to come in to to meet you up there. I left in 15 minutes later, the roofing boots showed up. These ones that I was going to test for somebody. I remember that. I remember you telling me that they are great. They work awesome on asphalt, but they're amazing on metal, glass, all of it. Um, I was. I was really like, okay, these things are the real deal. I wouldn't say they're quite like, hey, I'm going to go on a 1212. Like I would with a cougar paw and just be, you know, sans ropes, but I would never do that. But they were great. I was on a 1010 walking cross plane and no issues at all.
