A short conversational YouTube video (Jim Johnson) about overcoming stage fright and connecting with audiences of varying sizes. Speakers discuss fear of large audiences, treating workshops like conversations, using relatable persona ("Batman" metaphor) to connect, and embracing imperfection to teach from experience.
I think the biggest group I've ever spoken in front of was about 5,000 people. Are there, are there differences in how you communicate with those different sizes of groups or is it the same?
Usually there is a stage fright or you know, people fear big audiences. Why? Because if you talk to 15, 20 people you see each face just see, you know, lots, lots of circles you know and you don't actually see the audience. So I always treat a workshop like a conversation and as long as you get gain experience then you will be better. I always tell my clients you need to be Batman, not Superman because I'm not a superhero from another planet. But Batman is an ordinary person who developed a very unique perspective and techniques. This is why people connect.
Yeah, I've made all the mistakes that you could possibly make and I want them to know that I'm not perfect. I want to help them not make as many.
