Johnson explains why caring about the job, the quality of work, customers, and crews leads to greater success in the roofing business and ties this lesson to earlier keys (loving and serving).

Good morning, it's Jim Johnson here, the head coach with Roofcoach Pro with this week's two minute drill. This week we're going to talk a little bit about caring. The last two weeks we've talked about loving and serving and the three keys to success. This is our final week and we're going to talk about caring a little bit about what you do. Mostly we want to care about our job. A lot of us look at this business as a little bit of a part time gig. We get up, we watch SportsCenter three times in the morning, go out and knock some doors in the afternoon, sign up a customer here and there and make a little bit of money at what we do. But if we care about our job and what we do and how we do it, we can reach unlimited levels of success. We can be so successful in this industry that we can make more monies than doctors, lawyers and a lot of those people that were our competition growing up in class that everybody looked up to. As a roofer, we have a responsibility to care about what we do. Care about the work that goes on, care about the final product, the quality that you do, the crews that you work with, care about all aspects of what you do. Care about your customer. Do something nice for them whenever you have the opportunity. When you get finished working with a customer, we call it finishing with a flourish. Give them something that is personal, that shows that you care about the work that they provided you, and then finally want to talk about caring about others. I watch all the time where we're a little bit self centered about what we do. It's all about us. But whenever we take the time to care about those that are around us. A particular example would be the crews. The crews work their butts off. They're out there in the hot sun, busting their tail every day, taking out a five gallon jug of Gatorade or providing some lunch for those guys. Show that you care about what they do and when you care, they care. Which creates a great relationship for your customer in the end to get that care and the service that they need. So that's our final and our three keys to success. Loving, serving and caring. You apply those three keys to what you do every day on a daily basis and I guarantee you that you'll be successful.
