A talent engine is a connected system where recruiting, hiring, and onboarding feed each other. When all three work well together, they create a cycle that attracts top talent and keeps them. If any part breaks down, the whole thing suffers.
And we're going to talk about these main components of what we call the talent engine. And this whole idea today is to create this talent flywheel that is irresistible. Come to work for, and people just start coming to you. That was one of the beautiful things about running my own business, is that we started having people come to us. And that was because we treated it like what I'm going to be teaching you today. So the very first thing that we have to take care of is we have to take care of the understanding that recruiting is one of the factors in us getting the best talent. We've got this recruiting mechanism that's important. We also have hiring. And so when you're thinking about your talent mechanism or how you're going to hire people, you need to be thinking recruiting, hiring, then finally onboarding. See if I can spell this correctly. There we go. Onboard. So we need to onboard people. We need to think of this like an engine. If I don't do recruiting well, I'm not going to hire very well, and I'm not going to onboard very well. But if I do recruiting and hiring great, and this one's out of sync. I'm not going to retain people very well. And you need to really think about these things being something that's important for you to attract the right people. Make sure you attract the right people to your organization, how to get those people to come to work for you. And then we're going to talk about how to get them to stay. So this is attraction. This is getting them to be successful, hopefully, and getting them on board, bringing them into the equation and then ultimately determining their success through our onboarding and how we go about doing that.
