Jim James builds a reusable podcast guest prep template using SimpleMind Pro, creating two layout versions and exporting them as PDF and text. He uploads the files to Zoho Projects, attaches them to tasks, and adds them to Trainer Central as handouts in Module 9, Unit 1 for learners to access.
Okay, it's 17th of October and, uh, I'm resolved to get this course built. So in my software plan, I have got to prepare my podcast guests for an episode. What I want to do is to give them a template which they can use each time. So I'm creating a mind map so they can create show notes. I'm doing a mind map because if it's in writing as one long form, often it goes over, and people can also visualize better using a mind map. They can draw pictures. So I use a software called Mind— it's called SimpleMind Pro, and this is out of Europe. You can get it for your desktop, your mobile, and for your iPad, or if you're using Android, it's the same, goes across different platforms. It's really, really helpful. So what I'm doing here is I've created a new mind map. So you can create different mind maps here. It's, it's a really nice software, and you can take templates. So what I've done is I've created one here so far, and what I'm doing is I'm Completing here the different aspects that I would want someone to have in mind before they go on to a show. So I'm saying, okay, the show, the host, duration, the audience, and the name of the show. Okay. Um, and with the mind map, then the idea is they can fill this in themselves. So I want them to tell me their story, their challenge, their breakthrough, and how it helps others. Their objectives. So the ideal outcome of this particular, um, podcast and what they want the audience takeaway to be. Okay, so here, here will be, say, get— okay, and then it wants its takeaway And we actually want to listen to the whole show because otherwise they don't leave too soon. So we've got a key message. So what I'm doing here, I want them to have a key message, what I want people to know. Okay. And you know what I want people to know. So what is the key learning that you will share. Okay. And here, how is this important? So impact the audience. Now, how is that different? Let's just delete that one. How is that different to the audience takeaway? So Why should the whole— why should the audience listen to the whole show? Hopefully something like it's going to change a particular part of their lives, part of their business. Ideal outcome. What do you want them to get from being— what do you want to get from being on the show? Now here, right, this can be e.g., life transformation. Okay. What's the key learning? It could be, you know, Then here, e.g., how to approach mindset, for example. Okay. Because they have limiting behaviors. Okay. So this is here what we're doing. So I'm going to finish this off and then come back to you and show you what we're going to do with the mind map next. Okay, now you can see here I've created my mind map. I've got the story, I've got the objective, I've got the key message, and then I've got 3 examples. Okay, so this then forms the structure for the guest to prepare their mind for what they're going to talk about when they get on the show. Okay, so now what we're going to do is we're going to export this. And I could export this. Let me just see, export my map. Camera's in the way, right? So I can export as a text. I can also export as a PDF. Okay, and as I want it to be a handout, that is what I'm going to do. So show prep, give it a file name. And it's called the Podcast Pro Guest Show Prep. Okay, we're going to call this version 1 because you never know if you're going to need it again. Right, so put that there. And what we can also do We can also export the mind map here as a— okay, export. Ah, here we go. As a text outline, give it the same name. So you can see what that looks like now. Then what we can also do is we can duplicate this. Okay, let's be a copy because some people may find it easier to see in another format. So Okay, so then what we can do here, because not everyone may like this layout, I'm going to change the layout. Can you see there's one here called Matrix Layout? So let's try that. And if we do— very nice. Well, that's very nice, isn't it? Then, then people could use this as a way to write their story out if they find that easier. So let's take that. Unfortunately, this is at the bottom, but that's okay. So that will work. So then what I'm going to do is export that mind map again. We'll do it as a text, and this then will be V2. We'll export it as a PDF. V2. Okay, then, then what we'll do is we'll upload that. So now I've done that, close this out. Now what we're going to do is we're going to go back into my Zoho Projects, and under Tasks we've got Interview Prep. And so here we want to do, okay, before the interview. Okay, and we've got some documents here. So then what we can do is we can attach this document. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to put this into my work drive, okay? And I've got here my favorites, and I know it's Module 7, okay, because I found that from here, okay? And if I look at my Trainer Central, my academy here. I can see my curriculum, and you can see here before the interview. Okay, so we've got pre-research. Let's see. Right, so here we're going to put this here under Module 9. Okay, and this is going to be around getting prepared already for your, for your course. So we're going to put that under Module 9, so not Module 7. Okay, so then what we're gonna do, put it here under Module 9, Unit 1. Now then, what we'll do is upload these. So here we've got our downloads. Oh, they're in iCloud, that's why. Here's this one, this one. Okay, I can— well, I won't do the mind map because I don't think other people have the mind map software, but let's put it in there. Then if people want to use it, they can. Okay, so now if I go here These can then be my handouts. Attach files, work drive. Now we're flying. I do recent files, and here it is. How cool is that? Okay, so anyone on the internet can view it. And those then are there. And what we can then do is get everything in that module before we then take it and put it into Trainer Central. But what is— this is the nice bit. Now it's in my work drive. If I go into here and I want to add files from library, I can do that here. So I can pick from my Word drive, recent files. Oh, let's see, Module 9, Unit 1. Ah, because this will only take PDFs. Okay, so what we want to do is we want to give this as a handout. So what we're going to do is— that's— now we can preview this. That's very nice. Okay, and I want to add my other one. 1, prep 2. Oh, it's already in the session. That's, that's clever. It's saying it's already in the session. That's very clever. We like that. We like that a lot. Okay, favourites, module 9, 1. Now, because although it's number 1, it's That's there. Okay, so let us add a file here. Right, that's not it. We want a handout. Oh, here we go. Okay, and what we want to do is I also want to upload, um, I'm going to add this, both of these into here because then I've got both of those in Module 9. Oh, I can't know which is which. Damn. Okay, so now What I need to do is to then explain this. Okay, so now if we preview this, I can then, let's say, preview all lessons. Okay. Then chapter nine, we just done. Dun dun dun! Very nice. So that shows you then how to do that, and those are the handouts. Then what I do is I record a video, and so what I'll do is I will then record this and show people how to do their story. Okay, that's exciting. Another one done. So now I've actually started Module 9 because I have so many people coming on the show that I want to try and start to get them to use this tool. So I'm starting there, but I've got to go back and, and get all these done anyway. So that's exciting.
