PUE measures how much total energy a data center uses versus just its IT equipment, and it's the global standard for efficiency. Digital T-Trust embeds meters at utility and PDU levels to track it accurately, then delivers performance data through PowerView so managers can forecast power costs and plan equipment placement over years.

The PUE is the energy consumed by the IT equipment divided by the energy utilized at the utility level. The PUE is becoming a de facto standard globally. It's been adopted to be able to provide a global platform that can be benchmarked from data center to data center, from user to user. And we see that as being a very critical part of our business to demonstrate to the client that we have a consistent methodology by which we capture BUE across our global footprint. We look at the metering and the PUE being correlated topics. You cannot effectively look at a PUE without having a solid metering strategy in place. Digital T-Trust, early on we have embedded metering into our design to capture power consumption at the utility level and power consumption at the PDU level before it's distributed to the IT equipment. So it is imperative to have a metering strategy in place in order to have effective PUE readings, and that actually makes some sense and it's usable. POE has been developed to put in place a standard that can provide the end user a sense for the performance of its data centers. At Digital T-Trust, we actually implement PoE and capture PoE elements during the commissioning to establish what we call a performance curve. That performance curve is then provided to our customer over our web portal, a web-based metering platform called PowerView, so they have the ability to look real-time at the performance of their data centers as it relates to the IT equipment they're installing. We actually look also at PUE as a benchmark from an OpEx budgeting perspective. It enables the data center manager to project what the power consumption would look like over 2, 3, 5 years and to actually develop a deployment strategy to optimize their deployment while minimizing their utility cost.
