In this two‑minute trailer for The Unnoticed Entrepreneur podcast, host Jim James introduces guest Richard Blank, who shares a suite of unconventional sales and client‑relationship tactics. Blank emphasizes learning a second language as a marker of education and respect, and advises using strategic anonymity in the first three seconds of a cold call to gain attention. He recommends a "company‑name spike"—mentioning the prospect’s company early—to create rapport, followed by phonetic micro‑expression reading, pauses, and transitional tie‑downs to steer the conversation. Authenticity, due‑diligence via LinkedIn or website research, and customized voicemails or emails are highlighted as ways to stand out beyond charm and looks. The trailer ends with a sponsor plug for Prowly and a teaser for a full 20‑minute episode.

Learn their language. It's a great way to show respect. Keeps an open mind. It shows structured discipline and especially cognitive skills. Anybody that speaks a second language, to my mind, bears the mark of higher education.
Yeah.
I believe the best way to retain a client, to get an upsell, to get a referral, or best case scenario, exit interview, if you would fumble the football, is to speak with somebody and try to maintain that interpersonal communication and possibly resolve any sort of conflict management that you may have with clients or with yourself. The first thing is when you're making a phone call is to use your anonymity for your advantage. You don't do that for the whole call. That's shady, but you get your first 3 seconds. And the best thing that I would do is the company name spike and ask how the company is doing. Hey, how's the Unnoticed Entrepreneur Podcast doing today? We're good, thanks. Who are you? Hey, Jim. So glad that you asked that. My name is Richard Blank. Who is Richard Blank? You know, I was going to tell you that. My company is Ghost Recon, and then we keep buffer boomeranging until we can. Till we can even out the tone. And then we have a conversation. And that's where the microexpression reading comes in. A phonetic microexpression reading. Pause before names and numbers, use them in transitional sentences and tie-downs. That's what you do. And if you can practice that, dedicated practice, you'll have beautiful conversations with people. I think the greatest thing to do is show authenticity in the beginning. Oh, oh. Do your due diligence, look at a LinkedIn profile or website. So at least you can custom make a voicemail, email, or as I would say, a company name spike when you're calling them and say it better than Alex does. No offense, but you know, I'm going to say it better than you.
And that's the way to buy me 30 seconds to get past the pitch to speak to Jim. Now, this was just a 2-minute trailer for a full 20-minute show. The show will be dropping into your feed in the next day or so, so Do look out for it and do enjoy it, share it, and review it. Thanks for listening to this trailer of The Unnoticed Entrepreneur.
