Hey!
Good morning! Is this how you do it? [MUSIC] Good morning from Philadelphia. Pay no attention to the hair.
Ha!
I'mma get it cut today!
Can I get an amen? Amen!
Morning.
Morning.
We going to the gym, get us some shots. Justin Patton's already over there.
This is Camden?
Yeah, this is Camden.
This is nice.
What is this?
Velvet?
First day of going into the practice facility was It was dope. Appreciate you, Mr. Deacon, sir. Thanks.
So we'll give you the full tour, but I know you wanna get going, so.
[MUSIC] See that? 3-2, I mean 2-3, my bad, dyslexic. 2-3, baby. Over there, right there, that's Justin Patton. Justin, put your hand up. I didn't say turn around, I just said put your hand up. There you go. He went to Queens at the smartest institution. I have no idea where I'm going. Tell you one thing, that ain't the way. Guessing Hydro ain't the way, so, you know? Okay, here we go.
Ah, okay.
I'm from Senegal, yeah. Oh yeah? Oh shit, I get to talk shit to you now then. Y'all crazy, 'cause y'all think y'all can beat me one-on-one, so. I don't know whether to take that as disrespect or what.
Woo-hoo! Woo!
If you can be like, "Oh, he can't shoot." Make him drive left. Oh, he hit. Right.
City.
You're on heat. That's the chef? Oh, man, he makes the best food.
Word? Okay.
You can't cook better than me.
Bet.
Tell you, I flambe and souffle some shit so fast, you won't know what hit you. Appreciate y'all, brother.
Yeah, man.
I look forward to whooping that ass one-on-one. I'm telling you. I'm telling you. Early mornings, early nights. Just finished this first little light workout in the Sixer facility. See that out there? See that? Yeah, I know, I know, I know. I know what you're thinking. See that? I need to go get a haircut. I'm gonna go get one now before we head to this press conference. They got it set up for me already. Just walked into the building.
Yes.
Fresh cut, you see me. Do this press conference right quick. They messed up my suit, so I'm literally in sweats. I know that this city thrives and loves guys that just compete and work hard and want to win. And if you haven't been able to tell by now, I think I'm that guy that just competes and just wants to win at a very high level. So I look forward to it. By the way, I loved you in Office Christmas Party.
Thank you.
Appreciate it. That was the first time that I saw my jersey in my locker. The 23, Philly on it, a fresh new start.
Let's go. It's water time.
No marijuana whenever I smoke. What have you gotten to know about it?
What are your impressions of the city and its fans?
The fans are incredible. I think it's definitely an advantage whenever you come to the Wells Fargo Center. When you're playing there, the fans are always into the game, from the jump ball all the way to the overtime if that need be. The city is a beautiful one. You know, so much history here, and I just look forward to being a part of that history moving forward. I can't tell you how excited I am to be a part of this organization, this team, this family. And then I remember, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Sixers, 10, 9, 8, 76. I've seen that every time it comes on. Really looking forward to getting over there and meeting the people behind this organization. Damn, a lot of people here.
Holy moly.
Woo!
We are so excited to have you here.
Guys here. And, you know, this is a big moment. We've been working for years, a lot of us about 5 or 6 years to get to this moment. It's also nice to have a couple of Big East guys back in a Big East town.
He's not really the Big East though, like Creighton doesn't count.
They're not on the—
yeah, okay. Creighton doesn't count. I'm being here to let y'all know how good you are every single day. Or as much as I can, so.
Thank y'all.
Yeah, I'm super stoked to be here. Obviously, along with my young fella here. But I love people. And y'all see me a lot because I think y'all are the main part of this thing. And we wouldn't be who we are as players and as a brand without each and every one of y'all. I absolutely mean that. Thank you for having us here. We look forward to working with y'all.
What's that?
Why a minivan?
Look, let me tell you why.
Don't tell her.
Yeah, I got to, 'cause it throws everybody off. Everybody. Like, it's got a "Baby on Board" sticker in the back. I'm telling you, you'd never know it was me swanging that bad baby. So I stay real nonchalant with everything.
Whatever you do, even if you're a fan of another team, you can't wear it. You can't wear the colors. Gotta be Philly. I'm a Redskins fan.
You see the meme?
You see the meme face?
One group photo. We got a big lens.
Man, that shit was love. That shit was love. They really are really, really excited. That's the crazy part about it.
They say at the concrete, leave your reputation outside, 'cause we playing basketball in here.
The thing about this, you get out the car, you're walking up, you know that the cameras is gonna be on you. You know that they're gonna be taking pictures of you walking up. You know, you're walking down the hallways, you're seeing AI, you're seeing Julius Erving, you're seeing all the history that's on the walls. And it's like, I get an opportunity to be a part of this history now. I get to do what I do best. I get to compete. To the best of my ability, I get to try to help this team win. A lot of nerves go on, for sure. We're not gonna sit here and act like we're not nervous. At the end of the day, it's all basketball. When you get out there, you just play hard. You just play the right way.
Free! And the home of the brave! It's too deep.
Basically no chance. Butler, the step on Ingles, and how about that? Gets us started. To be really good defensively. There's Butler, and he drains the 3, Jimmy Butler.
Obviously—
Simmons for Butler!
Jimmy— okay! You guys get this game? Nice!
Butler again got it while he hasn't missed. Jimmy Butler 4-for-4 on his home debut, and the Sixers' great shooting beautifully done. And so now Henry Shamet on the floor. Jimmy Butler to the hoop, got it done. Butler in his home debut, shooting the ball very well. Butler for 3, yes! [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] and he gave it up. Redick with the steal. Here come the Sixers.
Butler all the way in, and he slams for 2! [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] Pick up your level of concentration. Oh, nice play. Butler lays it home! What a play by Ben Simmons! Jimmy Butler III! Thank you guys so much. One more time, give it up for Jimmy Butler III!
It's not just his offense, not just his defense, it's his energy, his camaraderie. As you saw, Philadelphia is chanting his name. The Sixers love him, we love him, so. And I'm glad we could make it work. Special, special player and special, special person.
We in Philly, we needed Jimmy Butler to come.
Jimmy Bowles!
That's why we here. We here to support. I came to support Jimmy Bowles.
Remind you, by the end of the season, the whole city of Philadelphia is gonna be here supporting the movement, yo. You look into the stands, and you see the fans and how happy they really are to have me here. The kids, the teenagers, the grown folk, everybody, the mascot, like, God, like, it's for real, a lot of love. That brotherly love, that's exactly what it is.
