It doesn't matter how bad you are when you start. I have done so many pathetically stupid things in my life. Really, I have. If you looked at mistakes that I've made, they are born beyond belief. I look back at myself and I think, my goodness, what kind of a blithering idiot are you to do such things? But I learn. And I said the same thing, to listen and learn. Talk to your franchisor, talk to your fellow franchisees, read up on all the brilliant. Watch all the brilliant podcasts that Joel's put together. Read books and stuff, listen to talking books, listen to. Just keep on learning and learning and listening and drown yourself in good advice, good people. And in the end, and you just learn a tiny bit from each one and you keep on doing it. So I'd say that's the biggest thing. It doesn't matter where you start from. People think that you have to be brilliant. I think intelligence is grossly overrated. Brains is way, way overrated. Character, determination, ability to learn, willingness to learn, that matters hugely. It's far more. They reckon intelligence only makes about 4% of his success in life. The rest, the other 90% is other things. Partly background, experience, but also character, mainly character.
