Speaker A attacks Gina Rinehart's donation to Pauline Hanson. Speaker B counters that Labor takes $72 million annually from unions, corporations, and billionaires. Speaker A calls the hypocrisy charge a barrier to moral grandstanding.
Aha! Look! Pauline Hanson spotted accepting thousands of dollars from Gina Rinehart for nothing in return! Quick! Tell everyone to get on social media and make a big deal out of this! Hey, look, Albo! Anthony Pratter sent us another couple of million! Ah, just chuck it on the other $7.6 million he sent us.
Don't you think it's a bit hypocritical of us to make a big deal out of this when we collect $72 million a year from unions, major corporations, and billionaires?
No, Penny! I'm not gonna let a little hypocrisy get in the way of my moral grandstanding!
Pretty good.
I like it.
Yeah, yeah, that's true there. Yeah, I think it's absolutely true. The amount of money they get from these special interests— why, why on earth do we have these featherbedding contracts where we spend hundreds of billions more than we do to— obviously because the Labor Party basically— the unions bribe the Labor Party by giving them contributions to keep them afloat so they can get many, many, many times more in return.
