A former Liberal Party fundraiser explains why he switched to the Libertarians. He argues the Liberals protect wealthy donors through zoning and housing policies that inflate property prices, hurting renters and first-home buyers. The Libertarians, he says, are the only party actually fighting for ordinary Australians over the rich.

I frankly, have given up on the Liberal Party as somebody in business. I have been supportive of the Liberal Party in the past. I've actually run fundraisers. I've had Peter Costello, I've had Tony Abbott. I've had people coming to this place because I believe in business principles. I frankly, have given up on the Liberal Party. I really do not believe in them anymore. They are so pathetic and weak in terms of looking after the interests of ordinary Australians. And I think one of the things that I'm most concerned about is zoning. There's too many people. The trouble with the way the Liberal Party works is they depend on contributions from wealthy donors. And these wealthy donors do not want to see the price of their property go down or even stagnate. They want to see them rise and rise and rise. Because these people are millionaires, multimillionaires. They want to see the money coming in, the value of the property going up. So unfortunately, the Liberal Party is in a situation where in this particular thing where it comes to zoning, they're worse than Labor. This is the reason I've actually changed. I had a look around a few months ago, I started looking and I said, who in politics is doing the right things that will help ordinary people? Ordinary citizens, not the wealthy, not the millionaires, can look after themselves. People like myself doing pretty well. Okay, we're getting rich based on these stupid laws. We don't need to be considered. What is going to help ordinary people, People who are renting, people who want to buy a house, young people who are struggling, people who are poor, struggling with mortgage, what's going to help them? I looked around and that's when I came across libertarians. And I said, this is the one serious political party that actually has the right principles that are going to help ordinary people.
