You know, I've been talking about environmental toxins forever, and laundry detergent is a sneaky one. A lot of them contain harsh chemicals like dyes, preservatives, and even UV brighteners. Those brighteners don't actually clean anything. They just coat fabric so your eyes think things look whiter or brighter. That's more chemicals I don't want on my family's sheets or skin. And if you've got sensitive skin or allergies around the house, this can be a big problem. That's what got my attention about Earth Breeze. It looks like a dryer sheet, but it's actually laundry detergent. You toss one in the washer and that's it. No pouring, no mess, and no heavy plastic jug. Their packaging is lightweight cardboard, which helps reduce plastic waste. And if you choose the fragrance free option, it's gentle, hypoallergenic, non irritating and non sensitizing. I really like how simple it is and how fresh and clean everything comes out without those unnecessary chemicals. Today's podcast may feel a little different to you, and what this podcast is today is a story of hope and transformation that's going to blow your mind. And I am so excited about sharing my friend Jennifer Love with you because I remember it was just like a year and a half ago when this whole thing went down and she was bucked off a horse. And literally, I remember getting the information, I'm trying to think that night or the next morning that she'd been bucked off the horse, crushed her spine. Doctors were saying she was never gonna walk again. She was in surgery. And we all the community that she's in with me, it's a female founders community. We all just leaned in like, what? How can we support you? What do we need to do? And what was interesting about that community is no one was like, oh, no, poor you. We were like, all right, you're gonna be stronger than before. You've got this. How can we support you best? And everyone just leaned in, and everyone leaned in with their expertise. And more importantly, Jennifer took this as the opportunity to, you know, really look at what, how did this happen for me and what can I do here? And you're going to hear a story of someone who has so much tenacity and resilience and took this, and you're going to be blown away at what has happened in 18 months because it's. It's like nothing you've ever heard before. It's literally like A complete miracle. And these are things. The things that she did to get there are things that we can all do. Yeah, yeah, it's quite the story.
All I have to tell you listening is if you're out running or anything, like, you might just want to sit down and. This is such a crazy story. And I still remember, and I was just asking you the date before we started, because I was like, it was like a year and a half ago, and all of a sudden we get this text. I think it was in the WhatsApp group that you'd been in this horrible accident, got thrown off a horse, and you were in surgery. And we were like, what are you talking about? So take us back to that day and then we will walk through the miracle upon miracle upon miracles that have happened since what you've made happen all along the way.
Yeah. Well, it was Friday, May 7, 2021. It was around 5pm and I was bucked off the horse. And the impact of that crushed my spine at the L2 L3 L4 range and ushered in cauda equina syndrome, which is an interruption of the batter and blau and sexual functioning sensations. I was rushed in to emergency and rushed in for emergency surgery the next morning at 11:30am during that time, I was told that I had a 10% chance of ever walking again. I was told that the best chance for walking was to have an emergency surgery and a spinal fusion that was all rearranging my spinal nerves coming off the spinal cord. And that was all locked into place, jj, as you know, with two titanium rods and eight screws. And so I went. I was in the hospital for about five days and then went into rehab hospital for nine days. And I was told during that time that if I did ever walk again, it was going to take me a year to two years to be able to get some level of leg use.
I'm really glad you're not a good listener.
And I just said, this is not how that's going down for me, guys. I said no. I said no. Thirteen days later, I walked out of that rehab hospital off of narcotics and at a pain threshold of less than 4, which was an absolute miracle.
And what did your doctor say at that point? Because I mean, that already at the first part of there's a 10% chance that you'll ever walk again. I'm like, okay, well, that's not zero, you know. And so you already had proven that first one and then this whole thing of like, well, maybe if you're lucky in two years and then you're up and out. What did that first doctor say at that point?
So, Dr. Derek Moore, incredible surgeon, one of the top, certainly here in Santa Barbara. You know, he just, he just kept encouraging me, he kept pushing me and saying, you can do this, you can do. You can do this. You know, I really took on the energy JJ that my mother had. It was like she cast a spell upon me when I was really young. She said, you can do whatever you put your mind to. And I really, I really stepped into that belief system. Now Dr. Lee, who was the doctor in the rehab hospital, he's like, I don't know how you're doing this. He would walk in because I was weaning myself off of the narcotics. He's like, I don't know how you're Jeffrey. I don't know how you're doing this. Took myself off of Academy and then I took myself off of the oxycon. He's like, how are you? How are you doing this? And I said, I decided. I decided. And I'm holding the belief and I'm choosing my reality and I'm gathering the support system and I'm setting clear intentions and I'm giving my. My intentions 100% of my attention.
And did. Did that make sense to him?
No.
Like, I called Scott.
He didn't care.
The science. Woo. Like, you know, it's like, but there's so much science now to back all this up.
Yes.
And then living proof. Like, you all right? So you told him all that? And he kind of probably thought, okay, well, she's crazy, but keep going.
Yeah, yeah. And, you know, I remember the, the first day that I had been transferred from the hospital to the rehab hospital. It's day six. The nurse is going to like, roll me in to have my first shower. And I can't lift my arms up. I can't put them out in front of me to hug anyone. I can barely stand, and they're asking me what I want to wear. And I'm sitting there in that moment and I'm like, I have a decision to make. I can either be like, you know, this totally sucks. I wish this didn't happen. That's one choice. And everyone in my life would have been like, yeah, this totally sucks. Jennifer, we're so Sorry. Or I could be like, you know, I always wondered what it'd be like to have, like lady maids, like in Downton Abbey, that, trust me.
Let'S do that.
And I'm like, I choose option B. And so I just sat back and began to let myself receive. I let myself, you know, in the. What I mean by. I gave myself 100% attention. I mean that, like, I allowed myself to feel. I allowed myself to feel all of it, all the sensations, all the pain, all the emotions. Had some epic cries. No, I. By 100% attention, I mean I listened. I listened to what those sensations and emotions were telling me. I listened to my. What my body was communicating. I listened to all that fear. And then I said, wait a minute. Happening for me, not to me. I took myself out of being in victim and put myself into the creation of what I wanted to live into. And that meant that I had to let go. I had to let go of everything that was holding onto a belief of this is not possible and absolutely 100% stand in the power of I'm creating and I'm taking 100% responsibility for the creation of this happening for me in my life. And that's what I did. I gave it everything I had. Every day for four plus hours, I would be going into rehab to do all the things right. And I set the intentions. I'm going to be walking out of this rehab hospital off of narcotics at a pain threshold of 4 or less. And I did it. And then I kept saying, that's the.
Most important thing, right, to underline is that you can say, this is what I'm going to do. This amount of time, this or something better. This, like, very specific. And then you put yourself there, right?
And then I put myself there. And then I went all in. And then, you know, I mean, you witnessed me do it. You know, the whole group got to witness me. And I think that was a really important part of this too for me, jj, is that I gathered a group, I gathered, actually a couple of groups of people to witness and hold and support me through it. And it was just even like claiming. It was the claiming of, this is what I'm going to do. This is what's happening to me. This is my experience. And everyone just being like, oh, holy shit, go, Jennifer.
It was none of it, by the way. I'm thinking of our group specifically because we were all like, there was no pity party whatsoever in that group. And like, when we were texting, it was always like, you got this. This will make you Better. You're gonna push. There was. No one was like, oh, gosh, you know, you know, you can totally just sit back now, you know? Nope, it was. And I remember looking at this, going, this, this. And I'm watching you do it. This is just gonna make you so much better in every aspect of your life. Like, it just will. Because when you go through something like this, you realize that, that most of the things that people let get them tripped up aren't even gonna register on your screen, right? They're not. They're a blip. Like, they don't. Like, you're faced with, you'll never walk again and you're gonna lose all sexual function. You're not going to be able to go to the bathroom without a tube. You know, it's. It's a, it's a big thing to look at and then just go, no, that's not going to be the way.
That's not what's happening here.
It's not what's happening here. And I'm not going to see myself there.
Correct.
And I'm going to see myself. And, and the important thing is getting such a clear vision and such clear intentions. But then also, you know, because I see, I see this. I think one of the challenges with like a lot of this is that people have a very clear intention and then sit down.
Yes, yes. Yeah, well, and that's what I mean. It's like, yes, set that intention, but then give it 100% of your attention. You've got to go all in on that intention. And that means I was in rehab four plus hours a day, giving it all of my attention. I was letting myself feel all of it. And what was the. I went into the emotional aspect of it too. What was this trying to communicate to me what, what was I ignoring in my, in my life, in myself? That was like, hello, now that we have your attention, can we do some work on this, please? And I was like, oh, yes, we can. And, and did. And, and so really, really going all in on the intention with 100% of my attention is exactly what you're talking about. You've got to activate those rituals. You've got to step into them and really do them or it will not work.
So a couple things that came up when you were saying that. Number one, I had a great mentor early on. First of all, my mom said the same thing to me that your mom said. She did that going, well, that's really funny that mom used to have me when I had to go do things. I thought were too hard to do. She goes, you're going to be like the little engine that could. I think I can. I know I can. I think I can. I know it's like, oh, mom. But I had another mentor who would always ask this question. I'm like, it's such a great provocative question. And it is the. What are you pretending not to know? That once you kind of looked at this and went, okay, this is happening for me, not to me. And then what? What am I missing? What did I need to see that this is allowing me to see? And was there some big aha that you got out of all of this.
That you've taken forward a hundred freaking percent that I am a human being, not a human doing, and that the power that I have to create the life that I want to step into is absolutely in my responsibility and control. And I knew that I was living that ish, jj, you know, I was living it ish and practicing it ish. And I fully stepped into the ownership of my life in all of the ways I know. You have your own story, I have my own growing up childhood stories. And I had to do some shedding of what I call the three headed drama llama that I was still kind of on the stage playing out in my life in some ways. And so through this, through this initiation, I call it, you know, that three headed drama llama had to retire the show and pick up. Creating the life that I actually really want to be. Living what's true for me and get rid of the bullshit. Get rid of the bullshit.
So in order to heal, like, walk me through the things that you did. I know I was like, here, take these things, you know, but like walk me through me through what, what it looked like to come back from, from that. And then where you are now in terms of, because you mentioned rituals, like how has this impacted how you live your life now? So let's go back to what did you do to heal and then what is carried into, like how you now are.
Well, first I decided, so there's a decision that we have to make. I decided that this was going to happen. And I rooted myself deeply in the belief that I can do anything I put my mind to. And thanks, mom, for installing that. And then I gathered, I gathered a circle of people to witness, hold and support me. And then I set the intentions and I went and gave those intentions 100% of my intentions. But what that really meant is I felt I had to feel. I had to go feel all of it. I had to welcome the pain rather than resist it. It's so easy in our life, whatever aspect it is in ourselves, whether it's pain, emotional or physical pain, to want to put up a resistance, to put up a wall to it. And I'm like, no, I welcome it all in. I welcome it all here. And through that, it was amazing because I would go welcome the pain in my body. We go meet it, literally go to the spot in my spine where I was literally radiating that sensation of pain. I would welcome it. And to welcome it, I had to relax it. To relax would just slide. It literally would slide. It moved. And Then guess what? J.J. was no longer pain. I would practice that hundreds of times and I pass out because I would be exhausted after there's lots of visualizing. And then I was letting go of it. I was putting down all the things that, all the stories, all the things that I had held onto that I was afraid of for so long. You know, I had a bunch of people in my life, including my brother, who's an attorney, gone judge. He's like, oh, you need to go sue. You need to go sue these people, you know?
And I'm like, sue a horse? What are you talking about?
Thank you. Thank you for your. Thank you for your lovely, litigious intention. I'm not taking that on. And that was really. It's like I'm listening to everyone, the doctors, the rehab folks, the people in my life, and I'm like, yes, thank you. And that's going right over me, like, being a witness to other people's limitations and not taking that on for myself and taking full 100% responsibility that this is my work to do. I will do it. It's not anyone else's, but I can be held and contained in it. This is happening for me. So I went digging for the gold. Every day. I was digging for the gold of like, how is this a gift for me? What is this doing for me? Jj, there's a whole documentary coming from this of a whole restorative justice process, a self justice process, like what I've done for myself, but also the ripple effect of what this is doing now. I'm in conversation with the ranch and the owner is now in conversation with the rehab system for how we're putting limitations on people during this rehab system and that we don't need to do that. Right.
And how yelled at during the rehab. So when my son was in the second hospital, well, in the first hospital, as you know, I just was sneaking everything in and doing stuff and they were like, what are you doing? And, you know, I brought in like popsicles so he could start to taste and balls so he could say all sorts of stuff to get him waking up. But at the second hospital, I. They had a gym there and I was like, you know, in between, I would pull him out into that gym and I had him doing push ups. And then they're like, you cannot do this. And I'm like, but he needs to be challenged.
Yes.
Like, he needs. You're sitting here telling him all the things he can't do.
Yes, that's right.
Let's. Let's push him to be pushed. Yeah, like, we're never better than when we're challenged. Come on.
Exactly.
Like they told us he would never, like, don't put him in the pool. So we took him out and took him to an Olympic sized pool and put him in the pool, and there he is swimming across the pool and we're like taking videos going, see, you know, so, you know, I had a great mentor who was like, the only limitations are the limitations in your mind. And I think that, you know, I called Grant Walking Hope. You have to have hope. And you, you just. And you just need the 1%. You know, you don't. They gave you 10%. We just needed one. As long as it wasn't zero. Right. You just needed some percentage that you could do it, that you could grab onto that. And then the bigger thing that you really talk about is like, then surrounding yourself with people who see that way too. Because as you probably noticed, there are a lot of people who have so much fear that you'll fail, that they don't want to support it. And I think that's where the medical system, they have to give you, prepare you for the worst so that they don't get sued. That's the only reason I can think of that they remove the hope.
And this is what I'm talking about, jj. This is the restorative justice piece that I'm stepping into with it. Because if we're coming from that kind of a framework with so many people that need support and belief system where they can step into and out of limitation, we can't be holding onto an old framework of I'm afraid of being sued. And so my brother's a judge. Right. So we're having conversations about this.
Why not? I'd love to be a fly in the wall in those conversations.
Yeah. And. And so, and so, you know, this is, this is for me as a money therapist where it gets into interesting Conversation about how we're in relationship with money. This is a whole nother conversation outside of today. But, you know, it's. We have to come from a different framework inside the system. And I think I can do something to bring and shed some light on that. And so that's what I'm up to right now with this. The holidays are all about family. But at the Chrysler Wrap up the Year sales event, it's all about you. Enjoy every mile in the most awarded minivan in America, the Chrysler Pacifica.

All right, so back up. We're going to actually get into some brass tacks because the important thing. And as you're listening and if you've heard my story with Gornett, you know, it all starts. Everything's created. Twice you've heard Mary Morrissey talk about this. First in your mind's eye and then in the 3D world.
And.
And you've got to start with that belief. You know, that belief that this would be the best thing that ever happened to you. The belief that you can be 110%. You know those. And I know when you and I were pinging, I'm like, this is gonna be great. You know, it's like, you're gonna be amazing. You're gonna hike up the hill with me. I know it. And so the mindset thing, clearly, like, you have it in spades. Like, you've got that piece. But then you did a lot of stuff through rehab, but what else did you do? Cause I know you were doing nutrition stuff. What else? Like, tell me, walk us through all the different things you did, because people want to know. They're like, what'd you take? What'd you eat?
Yeah. I was waking up every morning in that rehab bed, and I was visualizing. So I was taking what, like, I would imagine a whole white light, like a laser, like in, like, Star Wars. Like, I had my own, you know, little Star wars thing. And I was, like, literally taking it, and I was sewing up every little thread of my spine. And so I was visualizing this white light was literally sewing up my spine. And so I was meditating. I was visualizing. I was breathing lots and lots of ritual supplements. You were super generous and sent me a ton of stuff that even the doctors and they were like, we're not supposed to have this stuff. I'm like, I'm taking it, I'm taking it. And he's like, well, he was like, hide it. And I was like, fine. I was journaling, I was having conversations, I was documenting my progress. I was setting an intention. While in the rehab, we all knew what I was doing. I was going to walk out. And I walked out with, you know, with a rollator. And then I set another intention. I was like, okay, by the end of June, I'm going to be able to do a 90 minute nature walk. Okay, by the end of August, I'm going to be able to dance. Okay, by the end of October, I'm going hiking with you and some of our other gal pals. Right?
That wasn't like, by the way, this was hiking. This is, I'm talking uphill. This was not like, we're going for.
A walk, holy moly. Like, kind of walk. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it took me a little longer than everyone know, but I did it. And then I was flying on a trapeze, you know, the week before Thanksgiving. And so I just kept setting all of these intentions and living into them. And I was allowing myself to also be witnessed in it. And I think that's a really big key in it, is being with the witnessing of it, at least for me. But all the while I was also deeply listening. So I had a practice of listening. My morning ritual had gone from one hour a day. It's now four hours a day. JJ, I'm up at 4:30 to 5:00am and yeah, I'm in ritual for four hours a day now. And I take it really serious. What do you do?
Walk us through that four hours?
Well, it's a little bit different every day, you know, depending upon what I need. I'm doing a self empathy practice. I'm setting my energy fields, I'm meditating, I'm journaling, I'm doing my gratitudes, I'm doing my breathing, and I'm doing lots of journaling. Any energy leaks, I'm searching for any energy leak and then I clear them. I do whatever I need to do to clear those energy leaks. Maybe it's a clearing letter of some sort. Maybe it's a conversation that needs to happen. And I'm also getting myself into a state of play. And so how can I get into energy and play? One of the things I love to do. This comes from me, since I was a little girl. I love to make sounds and accents. And so I'll get on and have a good morning conversation with my sweetheart and we'll just play and I'll maybe making all these weird, like, you know, little country bumpkin or like ghetto valley girl or, you know, whatever it is. And I'm getting into a play mode, so. So it's lots of things. Sometimes maybe I'm having a challenging time accessing what's happening for me. So I'll go into a self empathy practice. Self empathy. Like, okay, what's the situation? What are, what are the sensations in my body? What are those? What's the emotions that are going along with those sensations and what are they communicating to me? What are the thought process? What's my thought process? And what are the needs that I have underneath that? And what can I do right now in this moment to either fulfill those needs for myself or make a request of someone else to help me get those needs met? Not demands, requests. So those are the kinds of things that I'm doing in my morning ritual. Now I'm also going to bed and I have ritual. Some of that includes reading myths, doing more meditation and breath work, but also asking, literally asking a question. Maybe I want to know something. Maybe I'm trying to process through something. And so I invite my subconscious, my dream world to do the work for me. My mom also used to say, in addition to you can do whatever you put your mind to, and that I came out running and I never met a stranger. She also said that I used to work all my problems out in my sleep. Now I literally take questions into my sleep state, into that sleep realm, and I'll ask a simple question and I'll invite the universe to help me work it out. So that when I wake up in that liminal state in the morning, which is my favorite time, that's when all the downloads happen. I receive all the information and intelligence that I need with ease. That's what I do.
So a couple weeks ago. It wasn't even a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't it last week? Was it last week? Two weeks ago? Maybe you posted something in our group, which I wonder what the percentage of people this ever even happens to are. Is it like 0.1? So tell us what the surgery you just went through, which I call, I said at first, you're a bionic woman. I go, no, you're an unbionic woman.
Yeah, yeah. So, I mean, Dr. Moore is like, you're a blocking medical anomaly. So, you know, I had the two titanium rods and eight spurs put in my spine in May of 2021. And the healing process has gone so fast and so well. That. And Dr. Moore is awesome. Serious props to this man for not only being educated and doing his work on himself, but for also really listening to me and trusting me as his patients in this process. And I give him a serious vow for that. So we've been in communication this whole last year. And I said. I said, early spring, Dr. Moore, my body is telling me that this metal is ready to come out. He's like, all right. We went in and we took a look, did a few CT scans. We were like, we need to wait a couple more months. I was like, okay. Came back.
He's like, what are you looking for?
He is looking for the fusion to be set enough that taking out the equipment, my spine would not collapse, because.
I've never heard of this happening ever. Like, I never heard of someone getting unfused.
Yeah. You know.
Usually when you get fused, it starts a whole process of bad, because now you destabilize, you know, the joints above and below the fusion, and then you tend to blow those out, and it just becomes, like, you know, a mess.
So.
So I never heard this before.
Yeah. Well, his assistant, who I also became close to during this whole last year, he said, jennifer, I've never seen Dr. Derek Moore do this removal surgery in the five years that I've been working for him. And I was like, oh, okay. Well, I'm not going to take on any fear of that, but cool. This is a rare situation of what we're doing here, and, you know, Derek and I, we made a. We made it. We made a pact, you know, he was like, listen, I'm going to pull the stuff out, and, you know, I'm going to keep you for several hours, and we're going to see how it. How it all just starts to settle. And if I. If there's any movement, he took me downstairs to do a bunch of X rays, and he's like, if I see any movement, I'm going to have to go back in and put a couple screws. And I was like, deal. So we did. That's what we did. And you know what? Don't need the screws. I'm good to go.
He did the surgery, and he said, if there's any movement. But you were under at that time, right? Or not?
Well, I went under during the surgery, but they kept me. I didn't stay overnight for post the second surgery, but he kept me for several hours in the hospital post surgery. So it was about a three and a half hour, four hour surgery. The second time, the first one was like almost nine hours. The second one was like three and a half, four hours. And so he kept me and wait until I came back from post op. And then a few hours later took me down for the X rays to see if things were moving or not. They weren't. We were good to go, but then he put me in a backpack.
So I went down to the X rays. What was going through your mind?
Well, I did a lot even going into the surgery, jj, because I invited in a healing circle that morning and I wrote out some intentions that the surgeon, the anesthesiologist and one of the nurses like, read out loud. So they each took a turn and like read these affirmations and I made a playlist.
I'm so thrilled that this group did this.
Oh, yeah, they did. They were all in. They were absolutely all in. I made a four hour playlist. Get this. I made a four hour playlist for the team. They're listening to it after Dr. Moore after post op. And Dr. Moore comes into my room before he's rolling me down to do the X rays, he comes and he sneaks in, everyone's gone. And he's like, I know you're going to get this. He's like, in the middle of the surgery, I'm listening to your playlist. All of a sudden I have this memory of my best friend who died and he's like, I start grieving my best friend and so he's like. So I switched over to my best friend's music and I just let myself grieve as I'm doing the surgery. And I'm like, holy shit, that's amazing. I'm so happy for you.
Wow. Well, I have been really excited about, like, you know, this, this past year, as you know, with Grant. And for those of you who don't know, I have a son who at 16 was told that he was going to, that we had to let him die because he'd been a victim of a hit and run and literally left for dead in the street. And we did not listen. The doctor told us there was a.0125% chance. And we're like, not zero. So it's been quite a healing journey back. But it has started, of course, with just that mindset of, of this is going to be the best thing that happened to you and for all of us, for you and us. And you're going to be 110%. And what do we need to do? And now, once you've made that decision, what actions do you need to take? And what's been really interesting is starting to do a lot of the Dr. Joe Dispenza work and really seeing how much of this is in our hands. And that for the medical profession and those of you listening in the medical profession, you have your protocols, you know, the things you do think about if the patient is doing their work, too, like, you know, exactly. Perfect proof. Exactly healing that happens when. Exactly Seeing themselves there, and then the doctor's doing their piece, and all of a sudden you're like, what the heck just happened here? And you hear it all the time, you know, where it's like, oh, okay, we'll just keep doing what you're doing. You know, it's like, well, you know, my. My dream is that what will start to happen is that doctors will guide their patients into this piece of it, because if the. If the patient can see themselves healed and they see where they're going to be and then the doctor's giving them what they need to do on their end, it's like, you know, it becomes. Like, it becomes an exponential effect. So that's my dream. That's my dream, too, of it, because you're exactly what happens when you do this, right? And, you know, the fact that you had a doctor crew around that. That went all in with you just is so cool. It's so cool.
Yeah.
So it's fantastic. And that's, you know, that's really my wish for everybody listening, because I think the last couple years, we've just lost hope. And without hope, we got nothing. Nothing. And, you know, it's. It's like you just. But if you look around, there's miracles everywhere. They're just there. And the thing. When you start to look at all this stuff, you realize how much of that can come from within. So I love your story so much, and I love you, and it just makes me so thrilled, like, just. Just to see how you've taken this. And what I'm really excited about is where you're going to go with it, because we all know this happened for a big reason and a big purpose.
Yeah. Yeah, Exactly. Thanks. Thanks, jj. Yeah, yeah. Take. I'm taking this out to the. To the. To share. This is. This is not just for me. This is for all.
