If a Person Is Suffering From High Blood Pressure, Would You Still Suggest Bulletproof Coffee?
15 Dec 2025 · 6 min
JJ Virgin says MCT oil and butter in bulletproof coffee aren't the issue for high blood pressure, but caffeine can raise it. She recommends testing your blood pressure before and after caffeine, then switching to decaf if needed. Exercise, magnesium, and fish oil help more.

A lot of them contain harsh chemicals like dyes, preservatives, and even UV brighteners. Those brighteners don't actually clean anything. They just coat fabric so your eyes think things look whiter or brighter. That's more chemicals I don't want on my family's sheets or skin. And if you've got sensitive skin or allergies around the house, this can be a big problem. That's what got my attention about Earth Breeze. It looks like a dryer sheet, but it's actually laundry detergent. You toss one in the washer and that's it. No pouring, no mess, and no heavy plastic jug. Their packaging is lightweight cardboard, which helps reduce plastic waste. And if you choose the fragrance free option, it's gentle, hypoallergenic, non irritating and non sensitizing. I really like how simple it is and how fresh and clean everything comes out without those unnecessary chemicals. Right now you can try Earth Breeze for up to 40% off with free gifts@earthbreeze.com virgin that's earthbreeze.com virgin for up to 40% off plus free gifts on your first order.

All right, so high blood pressure and coffee. And actually I'm gonna take it. Not just bulletproof coffee. Cause the MCT oil and butter that make bulletproof coffee, that make up bulletproof coffee along with the beans are not going to be causing a problem. Here's the other part of bulletproof coffee. It's the beans. And the beans from bulletproof coffee are the ones that I drink every day. Why? Because they are mold and mycotoxin free. And one of the things that is a problem with coffee, coffee can be amazing for you. It's got a lot of antioxidants, phytonutrients in it. However, it also is one of the more moldy crops and also can be a very pesticide laden crop. So you want to make sure that you're getting clean coffee beans. That's super important that you're starting with that now. As far as whether it's going to be triggering any issues with blood pressure, here's the thing, what I would do. The best way to tell if caffeine's impacting your blood pressure is to take your blood pressure, drink a cup of coffee, take your blood pressure and see. But I drink decaf coffee. In fact, over this last couple months, I have detoxed myself all the way back down to decaffeinated coffee, which is a huge deal for me. In fact, I think we should everybody stand up and go, woo hoo. Mainly because I was working on it more for some anxiety and stuff going on. So I found that the caffeine was triggering me. For a lot of people, caffeine can be great for helping you get a bigger, better workout, helping you with burning fat. But you have to see how it does for you, for all of us. We should quit caffeine by noon. And if it is causing a raise in blood pressure, if it's causing a rise in blood pressure, if it's causing any anxiety or stress or irritability, then cut it out. And if it's impacting your sleep, make sure you're having it very early in the day or you might be one of those people that can't use it at all. And of course, if you've got any adrenal issues, it can raise blood sugar as well. Now, if you've got high blood pressure though, can I throw a couple other things out to you that can be super helpful for blood pressure? Number one is exercise. Exercise is really important, consistent exercise for blood pressure. And I would look here at doing some high intensity interval training to train your sympathetic nervous system on how to handle stress better and getting out there and doing some walks, moving more. Other thing that can help here is magnesium. So an Epsom salts bath at night, taking some magnesium before bed, super helpful here. Fish oil also is helpful and olive oil. In fact, I would suggest getting 2 tablespoons of olive oil a day into your food, really important. And then of course, keeping good blood sugar balance through your diet. So that means that your meals have protein, fat and fiber for the best blood sugar balance. What's an example of that? Well, it could be some brussels sprouts, a little bit of wild rice, half a cup and some wild salmon. You get the healthy fats from the wild salmon. I put some olive oil on the brussels sprouts and the wild rice, so that helps with that blood pressure too. And I do the brussels sprouts for the non starchy veggies and fiber and the wild rice, which is a grass, not a grain for the, for the fiber as well. So super easy to do. So again, one of the most important things you can do is you've got to be your own best diet strategist, right? You've got to see how foods affect you. So really pay attention to how do you do with caffeine? Because again, for me, I was doing caffeine fine for quite a while and then I started to feel it creating some issues and so I backed it down. So let's see what it does for you. How does it make you feel? And then again, you can either do half decaf, half regular, or take it all the way down to all decaf. But the MCT oil and butter are not going to be the issue. It would be the issue of the caffeine potentially. All right, if you've got questions, I've got answers.
