JJ Virgin created ChiaTine, a creatine supplement designed to reduce bloating and gas that over 75% of women report with traditional creatine. The formula combines creatine HCl with magnesium and taurine for better absorption and fewer GI issues. Upcoming research explores creatine's effects on menopausal brain fog and fatigue.

The way ChiaTine was created was JJ Virgin, of course, 4 times New York's best-selling author in diet, and she's a Fitness Hall of Famer, and she loves creatine. But some of the challenges she was facing when she was promoting creatine on her podcast, interviewing guests, is that women in her community were responding and saying, I can't take creatine, I don't feel well, I feel bloated, I get gassy, and they stopped using it, which is not good. Everybody should be on creatine. We were at a conference, I think a little over a year ago, and JJ found Mark, and Mark is the creator of ChiaTine. He's got a company called Concrete, and we've taken this concentrated form of creatine HCL and we put it into this product, as well as magnesium and taurine, which are also very important for the body.
There's a couple studies that will be published this year, one of them that is validating exactly what Tim just spoke about with regard to the side effects that those women were experiencing when they were taking creatine monohydrate. Creatine monohydrate is— it's a good molecule, it's just not very bioavailable. Its absorption is challenging for the body, and so you take a lot to only get a little into the bloodstream, and the body struggles to get rid of the rest. And so in this study, it was over 75% of the women in the study experienced some form of bloat, puffiness, GI distress, water retention. And it's also on the heels of another study that has been done specifically on menopausal and perimenopausal women and the effects of creatine, the therapeutic effects of creatine, on those life stage symptomologies, brain fog, fatigue, and it'll be published in one of the top journals. It'll show how important it is for a compound like creatine to be a part of everyone's supplementation or everyone's diet, but particularly menopausal and perimenopausal women.
