15 Dec 2025 · 8 min

JJ Virgin frames sugar, dairy, and gluten as gateway ‘drugs’ that trigger cravings and immune reactions; she recommends elimination/reset diets (the Virgin Diet or Sugar Impact Diet) for several weeks to identify trigger foods, emphasizing that food acts as information affecting energy, inflammation, and weight. The episode closes with a promo for JJ Virgin’s supplement AppControl.

You know, I've been talking about environmental toxins forever, and laundry detergent is a sneaky one. A lot of them contain harsh chemicals like dyes, preservatives, and even UV brighteners. Those brighteners don't actually clean anything. They just coat fabric so your eyes think things look whiter or brighter. That's more chemicals I don't want on my family's sheets or skin. And if you've got sensitive skin or allergies around the house, this can be a big problem. That's what got my attention about Earth Breeze. It looks like a dryer sheet, but it's actually laundry detergent. You toss one in the washer and that's it. No pouring, no mess, and no heavy plastic jug. Their packaging is lightweight cardboard, which helps reduce plastic waste. And if you choose the fragrance free option, it's gentle, hypoallergenic, non irritating, and non sensitizing. I really like how simple it is and how fresh and clean everything comes out without those unnecessary chemicals. Right now you can try Earth Breeze for up to 40% off with free gifts@earthbreeze.com virgin that's earthbreeze.com virgin for up to 40% off plus free gifts on.

J.J. virginia, you know, it totally drives me crazy, this idea of a cheat meal or a cheat day. And let's be honest, if you're thinking of doing a cheat meal or a cheat day, what are you thinking of cheating on? Are you going, you know what? Today I am going to just binge out on some wild salmon and brussels sprouts. No, that's not what's happening. Right. You are going to go after sugar, dairy, gluten, possibly all three. The trifecta of an opiate hit on your brain. Because you know what? Food, food is a drug. And sugar especially is our number one drug of choice. I'm going to say dairy and gluten too, because of the opiate like effect on the brain. And when you eat these things and have a little bit, what does it do? What happens when you have a little sweet? What do you want more of? More sweet, right? A little cookie. What do you want more of? To me, I look at all this and it's a gateway. A cookie is a gateway drug to a whole lot more worse stuff. Now the addiction part of it is one part of it, but there's also the intolerance piece of it. In the virgin diet, I talk about the seven foods to lose for three weeks by doing simple swaps to let your immune system cool down and then go back and rechallenge to see which foods work for you and which foods don't. And this came out of of me doing testing in loads of different doctors offices where I looked at a food sensitivity test and would go over the results with the patients, with the doctors. And what I found was that the same foods always showed up. And when we pulled those out, amazing things happened. And if we could leave those foods out for three to four weeks, the body had a chance to heal. And sometimes those foods could be incorporated, backed in on a rotational basis, but sometimes they were foods that just didn't work for someone. And so often people would say, oh, I'm not intolerant to anything, jj. I feel fine. But what's happened is they feel low grade bad all the time. They just don't realize it. They have no idea what feeling good really is. Like that. That is their real normal. And when they go on the program, either sugar impact diet or virgin diet, and they get these foods out and they know that high energy and no pain and great focus is really the normal, then they realize that that little bit can put them totally off track. And that's what I really want to emphasize here. When you do a cheat meal, it's not a matter of hitting yourself with extra sugar or calories because our body's not a bank account, it's a chemistry lab. It is the impact that that food has on your system. Is it going to fire up your immune system to start a cascade of problems? Joint pain, headaches, brain fog, gas and bloating, weight gain? Right. Is it going to start that, then start a trigger of addiction back again so that you just want that food again? Because I'm betting you're not craving a food as a cheat meal, right? That isn't something that you have an issue with. I know for me that I have trigger foods, gateway foods. Popcorn is a huge gateway food for me. Sourdough bread, cheese, cheesecake, yogurt. If I eat those things, I want more of those things because they start this chain like reaction of a drug addiction for me. I can't have a little bit having a cheat meal of that is going to start a cheat day, a cheat week. And heck, there's that whole other part that happens during that time where you go, oh, you know, I blew it anyway. I might as well just keep going. So I am anti, anti cheat meals or cheat days because I know what they set you up to do and they truly set you up to fail. Here's the thing. If you're listening to this right now, going, okay, but I don't want to give up my XYZ foods. And this is what I'm going to encourage you to do. Think of doing what I'm going to call a reset where whatever it is, if sugar is your issue, go to the sugar impact diet. If you got a gluten, dairy, eggs, corn, soy, peanut issue, if any of those foods are things you go I cannot live without, go over to the virgin diet and take a couple weeks to let your immune system cool off and to reset so you can get your new normal. And then you're going to go back and you're going to connect the dots. You're going to try that food and see how you really because you don't know if you've been eating it all the time, see how you really feel, connect those dots and go, you know what? Food is information. As I'm eating this wow, it's zapping my energy, it's making me bloated or.
Hey, I feel great.
Then you know and think how empowering that is because you're not going to want to cheat anymore. When you know that a food either makes you feel great or bad, it's a totally different conversation. So go ahead and do that. Let's change the conversation. Take back control that the food has over you. Don't get into that cheat cycle. That cheat cycle cycle will take you down. Get into the cycle of food is information and you want to be making sure that you're eating food that helps your body burn off fat, create great energy and de age you.
