JJ Virgin explains why women over 40 should lift weights and take creatine. She covers how fitness trends have shifted from cardio to strength training, shares personal stories about her gym experience, and details creatine's specific benefits for aging women.
Finally, we're not doing all this cardio craziness and we're starting to lift weights.
Yeah, because go back 20-some years ago, it was all cardio.
It was all cardio. And if you went into a gym and you went into the weight room, there weren't any women there. And I remember back, I was in LA and we had a special area for women. They had a women's gym that had the inner outer thigh machine and the lighter weights. Like, what do you do with this? Right? So, I mean, things are now finally starting to change. Long overdue.
JJ Virgin. I know that you're strong in creatine. Even that is not new. No, creatine has been there for a long time.
Here's the thing, I remember being at Gold's Gym in Venice. The bros took creatine and they were also taking steroids. So I was like, oh, I'll have none of that, because I associated creatine with steroids with bros. And it wasn't until a couple years ago when I was looking at the research and I went, oh my gosh, like, if anyone should be taking creatine, it should be women. Like, we're the ones that need it more. We have less tissue stores of it. And if you look at all of the benefits them. It goes far beyond working out, far beyond muscle.
