Prashanth Rao explains how GraphRAG combines graph databases with vector retrieval to capture relationships that embeddings alone miss. Naive RAG chunks text, embeds it, and retrieves top matches, but GraphRAG adds explicit entity-relation-entity triples to provide richer context. The two-stage pipeline extracts entities and relations into a graph during indexing, then queries both the graph and vector DB together during retrieval.
