Authenticity: How to build a deeper connection with yourself and others feat. JP SEARS

JP Sears leads a keynote on authenticity through humor and audience participation. He teaches a mantra, "I'm full of shit," to loosen certainty, and leaves attendees with a question: how can you show up as authentically as possible in this moment.

So as you're listening to speakers, as you're meeting people, I would ask you to have a fierce mindset of open curiosity. Suspend the certainty. I think it enhances our learning and connection. But even more than that, I would dare say what a curious mindset and heart set gives us is a deeper connection to who we really are, our authentic self. And in my delusional opinion. And I'm on the Internet, so my opinion counts. In my delusional opinion, your authentic self is the greatest, most priceless resource you have in your personal life and your business life.
As entrepreneurs, we love facts and statistics. And here are some that I'm sure nobody in the room knows. Fact number one, there are now 480,000 plumbers just in the United States. Mike, you may have known that. Fact number two, there are now 37,500 Roman Catholic priests in the United States. Fact number three. Yet there's only one spiritual plumber in the entire world. And you're going to have him as your host for the annual event. His name is JP Sears, and I've engaged him to give you mental enemas for the rest of the event. Why? Because so many of you have your head completely full of shit. So JP Is actually a certified holistic coach advanced practitioner, yet he is mostly known worldwide for his hilarious videos that get hundreds of millions of views on Facebook as well as YouTube. One of his videos is if Meat Eaters Acted like vegans, got over 64 million views. It's actually probably got hundreds of millions. And people often ask him, are you sincere or just being funny? And JP Usually answers yes. So you'll find out for yourself over the next couple of days at our Genius Network annual event. As JP does his shtick, he's. First off, I've become dear friends with J.P. the guy is an amazing dude. I love him. I think he's gonna add so much to this event, and I hope through his spiritual plumbing practices that it will help you get to where you want to go. So please give it up for my dear friend, Mr. J.P. sears.
Hello. So, hi, Sean. Would you guys leave? I'd like to talk to Sean for a little bit. Just to address the elephant in the room. I'm a lot more handsome in person than I am on video. I don't really know how that's possible, but it's just a thing. And I was backstage psychoanalyzing Joe. How many of you guys were psychoanalyzing Joe while you were ignoring what he was saying? Yeah. So you know how you tend to hear what you're thinking about rather than what's actually said. So I'm noticing Joe hearing Joel talk about open relationships when Joel's not talking about open relationships. So there's that. And then I notice Joe's intense denial of his involvement in open relationships, which is typically like the first sign of guilt. So what we're going to do in the back, we're going to have a sign up sheet. If you want to get into Joe's open relationship funnel, it's open to men, women, non humans. All species are welcome. Joe's not picky, he's just that accepting. It's wonderful. Yeah. And it really is a great honor for Joe to have me here. And from what he tells me, I should be very honored too. So there's that. Show of hands. Who has not watched my videos? Jesus. Keep your hands up, please. Wow. Why? Why? Did something happen to you in childhood? It's a thing I do when people are acting in a way I don't like. I just ask them, what happened to you in childhood? It's a way of discounting their whole being. I get great results. Who came here to learn something you don't already know? Show of hands. Cool. Who came here to connect with someone who you don't already know? Cool. Who came here to have a closed mind and just to be walled off? Cool. One person. That's pretty good. So we're everybody but you. We're in agreement. We're here to learn something. We're here to connect with people. What do we need in order to learn in a big way and connect with people in a big way? What do we need? It's a rhetorical question. Please don't say anything. You murdered my dramatic pause. Let's do that again, but don't say anything this time. What do you need in order to create a lot of learning, a lot of connection? I dare say you need an open mind and an open heart. Does that make a little bit of sense? An open mind to learn and an open heart to connect. Does that make a little bit of sense? Cool. Based on the silence, I assume you either agree or you're just afraid I'm going to shame you for talking. Both are true. So that you can get the most out of this event. So your mind can be very open, your heart can be very open. So. So you walk out of here with 10 times your money's worth. I'd like to give to you a mantra that will open your mind, open your heart in a very powerful way. This mantra was given to me directly by the Dalai Lama. And I've never met him, but I just thought of it one day and it felt like he was intuitively giving it to me. So this is unquestionably a direct transmission from the Dalai Lama. But before we do that, you got to get ready because this is a powerful mantra.
Hey, I hope you're enjoying this video. And I want to let you know that I have a new book that's come out, and if you'd like to get it absolutely free, there's a link below in the description. You okay with that, Paul? Okay with that? Okay, that too, was a rhetorical question. So I'm going to ask you to, like, rototill the soil of your mind real quick to get you ready. Would you agree that to open your mind, opening your body is a good thing? Kind of like the mind is the body, the body is the mind. Typically, everybody agrees with that unless you're sedentary. So I'm going to ask you to stand up if you can. I feel the resentment. Okay. I feel controlled by JP at this point. But we're also kind of building rapport, which is nice. We're all doing things in mindless unison. I like that. So I'm going to ask you to just move around a little bit. Get a little bit primal. Jump up and down, shake your body, make a primal noise. Yeah, you're all primal naked weirdos underneath your business casual. Say, I'm alive. I pity the fool. I love Mr. T. Have a seat. Here's the mantra I'm going to ask you to repeat after me. You ready? Thank you. One person speaking for everybody. Here we go. I'm full of shit and it's okay. We're going to repeat this a couple times, and if saying shit isn't appropriate to you, you can say fucking shit. I'm okay with that. Here we go again. I'm full of shit, and it's good. And again, I'm full of shit. And it feels good to finally admit it. I'm going to ask you to turn to a neighbor real quick. Person A, Person B. Person A. I'm going to ask you to introduce yourself, like, in a legitimate way. So figure out real quick who's person A, who's person B. And if you don't have a partner, it just means you're unlovable and nobody likes you. Cool. So you should have a partner. If you don't have a partner at this point, you need a lot of outside counseling. So Person A, repeat after me, my name is. Then state your name. And I'm full of shit. Nice to meet you. Person B, you're up. My name is. And I'm full of shit too. Nice to meet you. Okay, now shut the hell up. We're done with this exercise. Does that feel good? Do you feel results? Like exponential results? Dean Jackson, Exponential. Why do I ask you to do that? In my opinion, when we're stuck in a place of certainty, what happens to our mind and heart? Closed or open to me, very closed. And when we're full of shit, which in my opinion is all people all of the time, but when we're full of it, but we don't know it, or we're not okay with it, I think we go into a fear based place called certainty. And I think it feels good, I think it feels safe. But I also think it's incredibly limiting. Does that make a little bit of sense? I'm just asking you so you can say yes in your mind. We're continuing to build rapport. That's good. Does that make sense? Yes, of those. So I dare say an open mind and an open heart is what we're looking for. So instead of having a mindset of certainty, I think the mindset of curiosity, it really serves us. If you're looking to grow in your life, in your business, curiosity might be homicidal to the cat, but I think it's enlivening to humans. And I think it takes a lot of humbleness to be in a mindset and a heart set of curiosity. For me, the humble warrior of life is one who can look out and say, yeah, there's more that I don't know compared to what I do know. And even what I do know, that might not be on point, it might be really false. It might have served me once upon a time, but it might not serve me so much anymore. So as you are listening to speakers, as you're meeting people, I would ask you to have a fierce mindset of open curiosity. Suspend the certainty. I think it enhances our learning and connection. But even more than that, I would dare say what a curious mindset and heart set gives us is a deeper connection to who we really are, our authentic self. And in my delusional opinion, and I'm on the Internet, so my opinion counts. In my delusional opinion, your authentic self is the greatest, most priceless resource you have in your personal life and your business life. I think sometimes we bury the treasure of self. We cover it up with the dirt of who we think we're supposed to be, what we think we're supposed to do to get business. But I dare say the more we can push the chips into the center of the table, wager on ourself, the more we win. So a pervading question I'm going to ask you to carry with you this weekend as a way of honoring your authentic self, which I think does nothing but work for you in magnificent ways in your life and business. I'll ask you to carry this question with you. How can I show up in this moment as authentically as possible? Old, you might be sitting around some new people and feeling a little insecure, like we're all children dressed up in adult suits. And it's okay. You're wondering, is his email list bigger than mine or smaller than mine? It's like, yeah, it probably is bigger or smaller. But what if you start to ask yourself, how can I just be more real with this person? How can I be more authentic? That is super inexpensive because it's super priceless. It's always available to us. The question is, do we have the awareness to know thyself, to be as authentic as we can in any given moment? And do we have the courage to express who we really are? And in my opinion, being a genius, And I love how this is very narcissistically called the genius network. Still psychoanalyzing Joe. I know he named it. So to me, what a genius is not. It's not about acquiring something you don't have. It's not about becoming something that you're not, to me, a real genius. It always comes from the genius within. The real genius is being who you already are and expressing it, having the awareness to know who you really are and the courage to express it. Are you guys okay with that? Cool. Well, I'm looking forward to having fun with y'. All. And before I bring our lovely next person on stage, who's going to introduce our next person? So I'm going to introduce the next person who's going to introduce the next person. It's very meta. I think this is like 10xing the introductions or something like that. Show of hands. Who thinks Joe is looking younger? Yeah, he looks like three months younger to me. And I don't know for sure, but my suspicion is he started getting botox injections into his scalp. And talk to Joe about that. With that said, thank you guys. I'll talk to you soon. Joe Polish, are you here?
