Jeff Hays and Denise Gosnell on Joe Polish's Genius Network

This is a short YouTube interview/testimonial where Denise Gosnell and Jeff Hays describe their experiences in Joe Polish’s Genius Network (the "25k" group). Denise (a five-year member) credits the group for multiple recurring clients and recounts strong emotional/supportive responses when her house burned on June 20, 2011. Jeff (filmmaker) describes rapid mindset shifts after his first meeting and emphasizes the value of both annual large events and smaller monthly Phoenix meetings (~40 people) for building deep relationships and business connections. Both recommend the group for people serious about growth and contribution.

I'm Denise Gosnell and I've been in genius network for five years. And eight of my 12 recurring clients that I currently work with are Genius Network members. So I've met some of the best clients that I've ever worked with in my life through this group, met some cool people like Jeff as well. And it's just been a great group. And you know, I have to tell you, when I first joined, because I know some new people that may be considering joining may be watching. Now, the first meeting, I wasn't so sure because Joe's the kind of guy that doesn't really have an agenda. He kind of goes off on what may seem like tangents and things. And I found that whenever he would wander off, we would get to exactly where we were supposed to. And one of the things I was looking for in the meeting came out of what at the time seemed like a random discussion that was headed nowhere. And at the same time, I have, obviously I've been in for five years, so I wouldn't keep coming back if there weren't great things there. But what I actually love about the process is it makes each meeting unique. So each meeting ends up being the best meeting that I've ever been to. So I just can't highly recommend the group enough. But only join if you are very serious about being around kick ass people that do things, want to make a difference in the world and are willing to go implement stuff and get stuff done. So that's what I would suggest.
So I'm Jeff Hayes from Jeff Hayes Films. I do movies that make movements. This 25k I was mentioning to a group yesterday, I would hate to imagine my life without my friends that I have. Through 25k, I've made some of the most important business and personal connections right here in this group. I think it was three or four years ago, maybe I went through a goal setting program called Lifebook with Joe Polish. And going through that with Joe and Eunice and some of the people from his staff, I got to know this nut, Joe Polish. He's like, you should be a part of 25K. And I'm like, yeah, it just didn't make any sense to me. And then a friend of mine, Garrett Gunderson, is a member. And so I went ahead and came and holy cow. Within an hour of my first meeting, I realized, man, I've been thinking too small. And I have that experience every single time I'm here, I'm thinking too small. This is a group of people that if you're right for it. You'll know it the second you get around them. This is a group that inspires, that lifts. Everybody comes not for what they can get out of it, but what they can put into it. Everybody's looking to serve one another and it all works out. If that's you, then you have to be here. It literally has been one of the most impactful things I've ever done in my entire business.
You know, I had a house fire June 20th of 2011 and the people that showed the most love and appreciation towards me during those most difficult times were the 25k group. I had people calling me from all over the world that were in 25k that heard about my fire, wanting to know if I was okay, how they could help. You know, you guys even sent me books to help replace my library of what I had lost. And I will never forget the feeling that my genius network 25k family showed more love and appreciation than some of my own extended family. It was remarkable to me and I'm always grateful for that.
The big annual event kind of draws the most attention. I was talking to a member, Mary Ellen Trimby, she's like, oh, I've never been to the Phoenix events. I'm like, you're kidding me. It's like the annual events, like a party, it's like a bonus, it's like dessert. But what these monthly events in Phoenix, you come, it's only about 40 people and this is where you really spend time getting to know one another and establishing relationships. And it's interactive, they're far and away. I don't want to say I like them better because I would never skip one of the annual meetings. But you know, that's more of a almost a seminar format and seeing lots of people. These smaller meetings, it really is a mastermind. I love this small group format.
Yeah, I would agree with that. And what I would add to that too is, is that the annual event is more where Joe is able to assemble some of the most world class speakers that come in as guests to speak on the leading edge topics from any kind of subject matter that you can imagine. And then it does feel more like a seminar context. But you still meet a lot of great people and get to know some of the 25k people. But there are a lot of non 25k people there as well that end up joining as a result of it. But then the 25k meetings are more like what you see on Trump's Apprentice where it's this more intimate environment where people are joking back and forth with each other and lashing out insults and growth ideas and just this bantering back and forth where great things come out of the discussion and just so much more intimate. But they're both great. I wouldn't miss an annual event either, but I also always look forward to coming to the actual Piranha offices here in beautiful Tempe, Arizona.
