A young elephant, six months to a year old, fumbles with its trunk for the first time, swinging it in circles and hitting grass. Its clumsy attempts mirror how human babies learn to walk and talk, all uncoordinated movement and gradual discovery.
Those little ones, they're like human babies. Like, we have to learn how to walk and talk. They need to learn how to use their tongues. So in the beginning, they, they have no idea what to do with it.
How young would he be?
That one's probably maybe six months to a year. Normally when they're about level with the mom's belly around there, they're about a just about six months. Just like a kid though. So he's probably thinking about a year old. I was like, can I just get this thing off me?
Does he ever actually pick anything up with it?
He doesn't know how to use it.
Again, does he ever pick anything up with it?
Yeah, he will. He'll pick things up. You'll feel a little bit, but it's still. Doesn't know how to use it. He's just hitting the grass and stuff. I've seen some of them, they're swinging around in a circle like this.
