John Rodrigues argues that AI agents generate low-quality interfaces because they lack design foundations. He built Florence, an AI-ready design system that gives agents the context to produce better UIs. A beta launch and masterclass demo are coming.

A lot of products and websites and everything is being shipped with AI right now. And it's producing a lot of AI slop, right? And people are like not trusting it, rejecting that. So, and the agents have gotten good at like coding, but they haven't got good at it like design, even getting like the most foundational UI principles and stuff. But I think a good design system becomes the context layer to these agents and they can produce, generate better user interfaces. And this generative user interface is one of the growing topics right now. And design, good design system is definitely a foundation of it. So I started building this Florence AI-ready design system that becomes a context layer to the agents. I'm going to launch the beta version of that soon because our masterclass is coming. We want to show the demo and everything. My thesis is a better good design system that's able to retrieve, if the agent can retrieve that properly, solves that AI slop problem. And then, but it's not that easy. The more I worked on it, I did months of research. The more I worked on it, I realized how hard it is. You almost have to define this like agent architecture and do all this context engineering and component contracts and all that nerdy stuff to get this right. But I think we are very close. And in the masterclass, we're going to do the demo of that agent-ready design system and stuff. I feel like if I can hit that 100%, it's going to be a big breakthrough to make your design system agent-ready.
