Claude Code for Designers: I Built an iOS App & Figma Plugin Without Being a Developer

So hi there. So in this video, I'm going to talk about Claude Code and what I've built with Claude Code and giving you a better understanding what Claude Code and what it can do for you as AI product designer or AI product builder. So let's get into it. So when I saw Claude Code for the first time, so I was quite skeptical because it felt like a developer tool and it, I was like, what do it looks like a terminal and what do I do with this and how will it help me as a designer? But the sooner, the more and more I started using it and it started becoming like an important part of my workflow, to be honest. And since then I have built like Orbi AI, an iOS app for productivity. Then I built like Ollie AI, then I built my portfolio and everything. And it has been drastically improving my workflow. Even though we are kind of like using all these IDEs to build. And then the one question that I have was like, how do I integrate this with my Figma? And I was able to do that as well. Now I connect like Cloud Code to Figma and able to automate some of my design system work and repetitive work with Cloud Code, which is insanely good. And that's all with that Figma MCP. It's basically an agenty coding tool. And with that, you probably have seen like wipe coding tools like Lovable or like Anti Gravity or Cursor. Similar to that, this also, with this you can wipe code and its capabilities are really good. And then you can write code just with the terminal without having to use the other tools. But also you can take this to the other tools like Cursor, Antigravity, or any coding tools you want. You can take there and then build from there. And the capabilities are getting more and more better every day. One cool thing about this and something that many people are sleeping on is like the Claude skills. So you can start building like capabilities for your Claude code. For example, my portfolio, right? I can create like a visual language for my portfolio skill. and it will improve my visual or maintain that consistency. So I kind of had thought this as well as our design systems will eventually be just probably like skills. And if you lack some skills like motion or frontend, you can create like dedicated skills for Claude and its capability increases the more skills that you create and it's become very personalized to you instead of being a general chat interface. If the terminal kind of like scares you, they also have a desktop app in which you can chat, you can do like coworking sessions and you can also use the Claude code from there. So it's quite versatile and they have like a browser extension. You can automate your workflows and things like that. The cool thing about this is kind of gives you that ecosystem of sorts, which I'm personally enjoying a lot and it has definitely improved my workflow and ability to build products. So before it used to take so many months and like millions of dollars or thousands of dollars to build an MVP and a product. But now with like Cloud Code, you'll be able to build that within weeks. And I personally, I do know some frontend and like design engineering, but I'm not like a full-stack developer and now I'm able to ship like both like frontend, backend and like to publish the app and everything and people are able to use it. And I launched my Oddbee AI in TestFlight and people were able to kind of use it and give me feedback. So as a designer, it definitely has improved my— augmented my ability as a product designer. So that being said, just to summarize, when I was like starting building with this, I did feel like challenges of like how to integrate it, how to set up and how to set up like better workflows and system. And I did a lot of experimentation through which I was able to build the Ollie AI Figma plugin. And then there are a few users also on that through the community. You can check it out. And then Orbee AI is an app that I'm currently launching to improve my productivity. And it's been a lot of experimentation and trial and error for me to get it right. But once you kind of get it right, it starts feeling very like natural. There's always going to be a lot of bottlenecks for building, and building a product is not that easy. And many people will tell you like, oh, it's one shot, you can build a product. That's not very true. It still goes through a lot of iteration and that design process. Of prototyping and testing it and like iterating and iterating till you get it right. And it's, but it's very decent enough. It's definitely is augmenting my capability as a designer and it will augment your capability as well. And you'll probably have seen a lot of like people on LinkedIn and everything sharing about this Figma and Cloud Code integration. It is definitely going in a place where our repetitive work is getting automated and then it's improving our efficiency. And it's a matter of identifying this workflows and leveraging that to to move fast because the industry also is moving so fast. It's important for us to move fast as well.
