You can build a marketing team in the Philippines starting with one specialist for a single task, then document, iterate, and expand across SEO, YouTube, podcasts, and ads. One SEO operation grew from a solo writer to a multi-person team; the key is shifting from doing the work yourself to managing people who do it.

Marketing doesn't have to be hard, it just has to be done. And it's in the finding of someone to do the actual work that most businesses struggle. And those who find someone great to do the work are the ones who succeed. So the question for today is can you outsource your marketing? Or specifically, can you outsource your social media marketing? Or I mean the reality is if you can outsource your social media marketing, you can outsource the rest of other marketing. Can you outsource it? The answer is yes. And I'm going to go through it today how you outsource your marketing. So let's start with the why. Everybody wants to know why you would outsource your marketing. Let's go through that. The number one reason is not cost. The number one reason is resources and time. So while yes, it is cheaper to hire someone overseas to do the work for you, actual real reason is it's just easier to find someone overseas to do the work, saving you time and money and effort. That's the real reason for outsourcing your marketing. With job boards like onlinejobs ph, you get really quick, easy access to super talented people that are experienced at social media marketing who can take over things for you. Finding someone is much easier than finding locally. Interviewing is easier. There's much less red tape, there's no government involvement. So that's the real reason. It's just easier to find the people and to help do the work when you outsource it versus hiring someone locally. So now, yes, the cost savings are there for sure. Typically, salaries in the Philippines are about 1/5 to 1/10 of what salaries are in the US. When you add these things together, the ease of finding people and the wages, it means you can very easily scale your marketing efforts. If you want to start with social media marketing, you can then easily move on to SEO marketing and Facebook and ads or media buying or posting on Reddit or whatever the marketing is that you're doing. It's pretty easy to scale that when you know how to find the right people, how to find them quickly, when you know that they're going to be affordable for you. It's really easy. And the last reason to outsource is you get a fresh perspective. You get someone else with a different perspective on what you're doing and on your buyers and your customers who can add new ways of doing things into the ways you're currently doing it. So yes, you hire someone who's an expert, someone who's really good at it. They're experienced, you're going to teach them the ways that you are currently succeeding with your marketing, and then they're going to bring in new perspectives and they're going to add to what you're doing because their experience is different than your experience. So now that you understand the why, let's talk about the how. I've done this probably a dozen times over the years, maybe dozens of times over the years. So let's start with a recent example of how I've outsourced our SEO. And I'm going to go through exactly how I did it and how you can outsource your social media marketing or your SEO or your media buying or your Google Ads. And with this example, you should be able to go from start to finish, from looking to hire someone to knowing who to hire and what to have them do for you. So in outsourcing my SEO, we've done this over the last couple years. I started with one person, and that's a really important piece of outsourcing your marketing. Start with just one person. Get that one person working with you. Make sure you understand the cultural differences, understand how it is working with someone new, and make sure you succeed with that one person. I have a team of people doing my SEO, but I started with one person. I hired one person to write content and build links. That person was a really amazing writer. That was why I hired them, was so that we could write really great content. And then from there I moved on and hired another writer and another and another. And we started building a team out. That's the correct way to outsource your marketing. Trying to hire a manager who's going to then hire a team is going to backfire on you most of the time. If you're really, really, really good at hiring teams and getting them doing stuff, okay, I'm on board with that. But if you're not super experienced with doing it, probably just best to start with one person. Now, I've been doing this for 20 years and I've hired probably 70 people over those 20 years, so I'm pretty reasonably experienced with it. And I still start with just one person. So start with that one person. Now. Next. I'm actually leveraging multiple different systems and teams and people here. And as you get better at this, you're going to be able to leverage this. So, for example, video marketing or YouTube marketing. Yep, we're doing that in conjunction with our SEO blogging. Yep, we're writing blog posts and we're linking them together with our YouTube marketing and with the SEO content that we're writing. Podcasts. Yes, I run a podcast, and that podcast promotes the YouTube videos and the blog content, and the blog content promotes the podcast. And yep, I have different people outsourced in the Philippines doing every one of these things. Our social media people post on Facebook about LinkedIn, they post about our YouTube, and they publish the YouTube videos on LinkedIn, and they link to blog content that we've written. All of it works together to create a cohesive marketing effort where you're putting out content and information and marketing pieces that people are going to find all over the place. It's going to continuously bring them back to your other content, which all brings them back to your main product. So this is more than just outsourcing social media marketing, which, yes, you can definitely do. It's really outsourcing marketing systems to really good people who happen to be overseas in the Philippines. So how does this actually work for the business, for the business owner? Well, for me, I'm not an expert at Facebook marketing, nor am I an expert at SEO or YouTube marketing or blogging or podcast marketing, or any of it. And so by hiring someone who is knowledgeable at it, it allows me to focus on the overall strategy of the marketing. Here's what the marketing efforts should be doing. Here's how our customers are finding us. Here's what we're doing with those customers, here's how we pass them off. And it lets individual people focus on the details of their specific type of marketing. So our SEO people, they can focus on writing really great content and linking that to YouTube videos. And our YouTube people can focus on publishing the YouTube videos and really great descriptions and making sure that they're getting seen, while the SEO people then add to what the YouTube people are doing. And the same thing with podcasting and blogging and our social media efforts. So it allows me to act more as the CEO and direct this team and direct that team and direct the work and where it's going and how it's going in the direction everybody is taking. Rather than me being in the details of each one of these specific types of marketing, I can outsource to really good people here and really good people here, and they talk to each other and they work together, and they make sure our marketing efforts are not just working on each platform, but they're doubling each other by working together in all of this. I get to focus our team on our core competencies, making sure that we're sticking with what we're really good at and making sure Our focus doesn't just drift onto other things at the same time. Each of them gets better and better at the one thing they're working on or at the couple things they're working on. And they come up with other ideas of how we can improve our market. Now let's move into the actual process of how to make this work for you. Okay, so you've hired someone overseas, probably a full time person who's really good at writing, to do your social media marketing. What's the next step? Give them access to your accounts and get them working on a specific task. That one specific task is writing posts. They're going to write posts which in the beginning, you're probably going to approve these to make sure that things are working as you want them to. While you're doing this, you're creating documentation. You don't have to have created all this documentation ahead of time. I know it's really popular in today's business world to talk about creating standard operating procedures. You have to have them. You have to have them. You have to have them. I don't think you have to have them. I think they waste a bunch of time and are less effective when they're created ahead of time. Especially given today's fast paced marketing world that changes so much. So you're going to get this person working on one task. You're going to transfer as much of your knowledge to them as you can in that task. Probably not everything, because they're already going to be good at a whole bunch of stuff. They're going to bring you some ideas, you're going to bring them some ideas, you're going to get them started and focus on accomplishing one thing together. When you can accomplish one thing together, it means you can now accomplish all kinds of things together. And that first task that you're going to accomplish with them is really, really important because it sets the tone for how this relationship is going to progress in the future. Once you've accomplished this one task, now's the time to start reducing errors, improving processes, getting better at what you're doing, and you're going to do this all through iteration. You're going to iterate with them, they're going to do more work, you're going to give more feedback, they're going to do more work, you're going to add to the work, you're going to change their tasks slightly, you're going to give them more instructions, you're going to buy them another course that will teach them some other way of doing it. In all of this, you're never actually doing the work yourself. You're always just teaching someone else, or maybe not even teaching, but helping them along the path towards doing it better themselves. With my SEO team who I hired, I hired a really great writer. They had a pretty good base in SEO. So I had them put together a plan for how are we going to implement this? Some of the things they talked about I didn't really like. And so I helped them change that. Like, let's work through this piece. I don't really like this. How can we make this better or different? How can we adjust this according to today's SEO? Or how can we make this better according to how we actually work in our business? From there, we started the actual implementation and some of the things that they've done were not great and I didn't like it and so I made some corrections. The key here is do not make the corrections yourself. Give them the corrections to make for themselves. Once I had done this a few times, I brought in someone else to the team and it started to have them take accountability between each other. So one person would do some work, the other person would check it. They're both doing work and they're both checking each other's work, which makes them both accountable to the other person rather than just being accountable to me. That takes work off of my plate, puts the onus on them to do really great work. And when it comes to me, finally, I'm getting better quality work. This allows me to focus my time and efforts and on higher value tasks and to push down the other tasks on them so they have more responsibility. In addition to their responsibility, it also helps boost their morale and boost loyalty to the company. When they get responsibility, when they feel important, when they feel recognized and loved. All of this serves to increase productivity and quality in the future. After bringing in the second person, I then started adding other types of tasks. We weren't just writing this particular content, we were writing these other pieces of content. We were doing other types of linking, we were doing other types of outreach. At this point, I was ready to bring in a third person onto our team and to also bring in a manager, which I did both of those. The manager is now managing the team and doing work. So I really have four people doing the work and one person managing those other three. They're all bringing in their own ideas to the team and I'm stepping away more and more now. This process has been basically the same with all of my other teams. With my YouTube marketing, I have someone that does the editing of my YouTube videos. That person publishes them on YouTube. Someone else is writing the title and the description. Someone else is creating thumbnails. Those people are all working together, producing ideas for the content that we're going to create. They pass that information off to the SEO team into the social media team. All of these things get passed around. Now, I'm a lot of years in to this outsourcing of my marketing. So let me go back to the beginning when I really very first started doing all of this. I didn't have a team, I didn't have a designer to do everything. I didn't have someone specific to work on my YouTube marketing, or someone to do my podcast, or someone to post on Reddit. I didn't have all of that. So I hired one person to start doing something that I was currently doing that was writing content and publishing it on the Internet. It was something that I had tried myself. It was a process that I knew was working. So in your business, take a process that you know is working and find someone to do that task for you. Hopefully it's something that you are currently doing. So you get that task off of your plate. You now become a better manager. You become better at managing their process because you've done it and you know what you're doing. And you also become better at doing something else in the business, which now allows you to hire someone else to do that other thing. Now you have two people. The first person you hired working with the second person. Their efforts start to multiply. So it's not just one plus one. You start to multiply and you get one plus one is three. And then you get two times two. All of a sudden your marketing efforts start to do more than just what that person is doing in doing all of this. Recognize nobody needs to be an expert. In the beginning, it's helpful, but it's not necessary. It's easy to work together to come up with ideas to make tasks progress. You don't have to have someone that is going to implement every single thing right in the beginning. In fact, outsourcing generally should be an iterative process. You accomplish one thing and you get better at that one thing. And then you move on to accomplishing something else. Hopefully you're doing these things together, you're accomplishing something else now. And now you're doing less, they're doing more, and you move on to the third thing and you're doing even less. And now you're able to manage two people, and now you're getting six things done and now you're ready to manage a third and a fourth person. And then you're ready to hire a manager over these people. It all builds on itself as you outsource your marketing efforts. So, you ready to get started? Let me give you a couple simple steps. Number one, decide the task, the single task that you're going to hire someone for. Yes, it's better if you have a role that you're going to hire for. But if you're not ready to hire a role, then hire for a single task. You want to hire someone in the Philippines? You're just more likely to find someone good in the Philippines than you are anywhere else in the world. It's not that you can't find good people elsewhere. You can. You just increase your odds if you go to the Philippines with it. Number three, OnlineJobs ph is the biggest and easiest place to hire really great talent at really affordable rates. Post a job interview, people. Hire the one that is going to work with you to accomplish that one task. From there, you can start to iterate and start to make progress. Can you outsource marketing tasks? Absolutely. I've talked about a whole bunch of marketing things that we outsource. Actually, let me give you some others. We're active on LinkedIn. We publish a newsletter that goes out to nearly 200,000 people a couple times a week. We have a referral program or an affiliate program that's all done by people in the Philippines. We run all kinds of ads on all platforms. Google Ads, Facebook ads, newsletter ads, LinkedIn ads. We're running all of them. Someone in the Philippines is doing these things. Different people in the Philippines are doing each one of these things. We do influencer marketing. We publish a blog. We're doing all of the marketing that you've heard of. I just don't do the work I outsource to people in the Philippines. They actually become part of my team. It's really more of insourcing where I'm bringing them to work with me, not just sending my stuff overseas. They're now on my team. I work with them to accomplish what we want. They work towards accomplishing my goals, our team's goals, our company's goals, and they feel like they're a part of it. So take one step today. Start to leverage your time. Hire someone in the Philippines. Go to onlinejobs PH to get started to post your job and see what kind of talent you can find.
