Welcome to the Secret Sauce of Outsourcing podcast that's dedicated to making you better at outsourcing to the Philippines. This is episode 117. The Philippines doesn't do daylight savings time. So if you're in the U.S. daylight savings time started a few weeks ago. Unless you live in Hawaii or Arizona, who doesn't do it? Or potentially, I mean, the US may not be doing it moving forward. There's a lot of states who have already voted to not do it. Utah, where I am, is one of them. They voted as long as other states around us also stop doing it. But then the Senate just said, hey, we're gonna stop doing it. It hasn't passed the House. I don't know. I've never really been a fan myself. In the summer months, it doesn't get dark till like 9:45 at night here where I live. And like putting kids to bed when it's light outside is. It's like there's a revolt every night. No, no, it's still light outside. We can't go to sleep yet. It's rough. Daylight saving time also bugs me because it's something that ofs have real problems with. They don't do daylight savings time in the Philippines. And so a lot of them don't really understand the concept of like, you change the time. How does the time. How does changing time work? How about computer? They don't understand it. And why would they? Because they've never done it. I know that we've had like complaints from our customer service people of people have missed interviews because they got the time wrong or the time zone difference didn't happen. And then right around daylight savings time, it's even worse. Nobody knows. Nobody knows what time it is. It's really, it can be really rough. So if your business requires your people to be on time to things, make sure they understand how daylight savings work. And one of the solutions to this, you can have them install a world clock on their computer so that they know what time it is, your time right now, all the time. That's helpful. You can also Google like, what time is it in Manila right now? And then you can like count the. This is what I do. I count the hours. Oh, it's. It's 8pm in Manila right now and it's this time at my time. So appointment that we just scheduled is in four hours. So that would be 9, 10, 11, 12 o' clock Manila time. So that's how I do the conversion often. This isn't the only thing that your Filipino needs to know, but they've got to understand about daylight savings times. There's a whole bunch of other things that I talk about in my book, the Outsourcing lever, like scheduling meetings or how to do interviews or time zones. I talk about a whole lot more in my book, the Outsourcing lever, which is free@outrigourcinglever.com if you'll pay shipping, which I think is $7, it'll ship right to you and you get it. And it's only a couple hour read, so. And it'll be really helpful to helping you get really good at finding, hiring, managing, working with online Filipino special.
