Hello and welcome to the Secret Sauce of Outsourcing Podcast, the podcast that's dedicated to making you better at outsourcing your work. My name is John Jonas, and this is episode 58, how to build your business differently through OFS. So things are kind of getting back to normal somewhat? Yes, The Omicron variant is raging. We had it over Christmas. Church was canceled last week for us. It seems like everybody we know has it, but generally things are kind of getting back to normal. Kids are in school, travel is opening up, depending on the day. We've all realized that remote work is really good. Now's the best time to hire an ofs, an online Filipino specialist. So, yes, you're busy. I understand you feel like you're too busy to hire someone. I totally get it. But hopefully your business is growing or recovering from COVID and as you build momentum, there's going to be more work to be done ahead. Like that. The amount of work never gets less unless you do something about it. So you want to build your business differently. Here's the concept that I took years ago. I wanted to build my business based around the concept of other people doing the work. Can other people do the work, or is it always me that's responsible for doing the work? Because if it's other people, then, like, what we can do is limitless. If it always falls back to me, then it's always going to be limited. And frankly, I want to ski instead of working. I know I love what I do, but I want to ski anyway. So here's how you can start by getting other people to do the work for you. So pick one task that you think you can get someone else to do for you. Hopefully it's something you know how to do. Maybe you're doing it, maybe you're not doing it because there's not enough time in the day. And then hire an OFS to do that task for you. You. So since it's something you know how to do, hiring the person should be super simple. Posting your job should be simple. You know what skills you're looking for. You know how to give training for, you know how to give feedback. You know what results look like. You know, you know, you know the whole thing. You know how to do the task. This is super, super simple. And you'll find the process is really easy, especially if you follow my one VAOA training, where I'll walk you through the process and it's not long. This shouldn't take you more than two to three hours total to find this person. Just so you know, when you hire them, things probably aren't going to work out perfectly the first time. Sometimes they do, but usually they don't. You're going to work with them to get it right. It shouldn't take you very long to work with them to get it right, especially if it's something that you know how to do and you can teach someone else to do. Once you get that task right and they're doing it correctly, have them work on another task. Have them do something else. Assuming their time isn't completely 40 hours a week spent on that one task, maybe it is, and then you need to hire someone else. But assuming they're taking, let's say they're taking 15 hours a week doing that one task, now you get them doing another task. And now you got two things off of your plate. As you grow, you're less busy and able to handle more things. Just start working out better. What happens next? Well, you hire someone else to do the next thing. After that, things get really, really cool. So the next time you sit down and think, oh, I need to, you'll immediately think, wait a minute, I don't need to do this. What I need to do is get someone else to do this for me. And that's where the whole build your business differently comes in. Now you're at the same place I am, where you think, how can I get someone else to do the work here? In this opportunity that we have, does it have to fall on me or could someone else do it? And I wonder if they could do it really as well as I do or better than I do. And that's where things start to change. So from that point on, your business is different. You'll be more efficient.
