Welcome to the Secret Sauce of Outsourcing podcast that's dedicated to making you better at outsourcing to the Philippines. This is episode 81.
EDSA Revolution Anniversary is a special non working holiday. Hopefully we publish this on February 24th, the day before the EDSA Revolution anniversary special non working holiday, which is February 25th.
So it feels like there's another.
There's another holiday here already from the Philippines. They have so many holidays. It feels like there's one every week.
Where in the US it feels like.
There'S one a month.
Now I know there's not one every.
Week, but there's certainly a lot more than in the US so tomorrow, February 25 is one of those days.
Let me just tell you a little.
Bit about this holiday. EDSA Revolutionary Anniversary is a special non working day that commemorates a set of.
Peaceful demonstrations from 1986 with where the.
People successfully ousted Ferdinand Marcos, who was the then president up until 2019. From like 1987 to 2019, this was a regular holiday, like Christmas.
Everybody takes it off.
It's a non working day.
When in 2019 the government changed it.
To be a special non working day.
To try and reduce the number of.
Holidays because maybe they were looking forward to like when so many people were working as ofs and it would be so foreign for Americans to have all of these holidays. And they were right because there's so many.
It's a special non working day only.
Because they have lessened it from a.
Full on full blown holiday.
But most people will still work tomorrow. You probably won't see an effect on your OFS tomorrow. They'll probably do their work. They'll probably send you their daily report as normal.
But if you don't see a daily.
Report, this is why, because maybe they didn't work. Maybe they have some family tradition with it.
So let me just tell you a.
Little bit about Filipino culture now.
So the EDSA is a major boulevard.
That runs through Metro Manila and it connects major cities.
And so if there's a disruption on.
The edsa, which often on this day they will stage rallies there just to commemorate it really. It'll create hours and hours and hours of traffic.
So if people are commuting like they're.
Working in a call center or like.
They just go to an office or.
They go to an office for you, then yeah, that's. And if they commute along edsa, it's a disaster tomorrow.
However, if your OFS work from home, then it's not an issue at all.
And it's really kind of nice, which is all of my team work from home.
So although this is a, you know, again, it's a special non working day.
You still might see something from your people that they're not working. I would expect that most of my team will still work, so.
