Lynniah’s story raising $25 million & going from 0 to 88 units in 3 months

A first-person YouTube talk (July 2024) in which Lynniah describes transitioning from active entrepreneurship and short-term rentals into multifamily syndication. She recounts setting an audacious $100M assets goal, closing her first multifamily property within roughly two months after committing (Oct → late Dec/Jan), scaling from 0 to 88 units, and helping raise over $25M for a $50M-plus fund in a matter of months. The talk emphasizes three core principles for rapid portfolio acceleration: (1) walk in confidence (competence + community), (2) identify and fill capability or capital gaps, and (3) be radically accountable for success. The tone is motivational, practical, and faith-driven.

I have been investing in real estate for the better part of a decade now. I was working very actively in entrepreneurship and building out different businesses and selling them and all that good stuff. My work was just super duper active and exhausting. And I found myself in just so much burnout that I said, I need to figure out how to make money passively. And that's kind of what jump started my real estate journey. Was looking for passive income and I stumbled across Airbnb, started investing in a bunch of short term rentals, ended up building out a short term rental management company, and got myself in a whole bunch of active work again. And we just set out this crazy, random, super audacious goal to have over 100 million in assets. Just on a random Tuesday, decided that we wanted to have over 100 million in assets. And we're like, why not? Later on that week, one of our friends who is also in real estate had reached out to us and they're like, hey, you should come to this seminar. The guy who's putting it on is over 100 million in asset. And we were like, that is so crazy because we did not tell this man that that was our goal. So we said, yeah, of course we're gonna go. We go to the program and they start sharing about multifamily syndication. And we're like, you know what? This sounds exactly like what we're looking for. We're gonna do it because we knew this is where God was leading us. I mean, when, when I had gotten just the message from my friend about like the exact number that we had prayed about, it was a no brainer for me. And they showed me how this is a proven process. And I said, let's do it. Part of a credit card, maxed it out, invested in this program, actually a very similar program. To tell you firsthand, not nearly the accountability, not nearly the accountability, and a whole lot more. There was a whole bunch of other things to invest in and all that good stuff, all the upsells and whatnot that I had invested into this program just to find out a few weeks later that my main source of income was going to be done. And the only access to funds that I had was on that credit card. And it's maxed out. So what are we going to do now? We're going to go get us some apartments. That's what we're going to do. And one thing for me that was super important is I was committed to this journey. I was not about to invest at level, level of money into a Program that had exactly what I was looking for, that was going to teach me exactly what I needed and not get everything out of it. So fast forward, this is October. I set out a goal. I want to have one property under contract by my birthday. This is October, my birthday's end of December, basically January. A few days before January, I said I'm going to do it because I was 110% committed to whatever it took. I had four, ended up closing on that little less than two months on my first multifamily property, less than two months later. And so that's the story of 0 to 88 unit. From there I said, I'm not stopping now. I got in here and something that we're super big on here is the law of the first deal in this. Let's keep it going. Invested capital on multiple other deals. My mentors that had taught me this craft. What's going on here? You want to come help us raise capital? We've got affiliate 50 million dollar fund. You want to come join us? Absolutely. I raised over 25 million in that fund in just a couple months. And it all comes down to three things. If I can boil it up to three things, it's a whole lot more than three things. But if I could boil it up to three things, it would be these three things. And that's what we're going to break down now. The biggest three steps to accelerating your portfolio quickly. Number one, walk in confidence. Okay, that sounds like such a, like cliche thing. Okay, Linea, what does that even mean, walk in confidence? I didn't have an apartment building coming into this. I didn't have a crazy portfolio. I managed hundreds of short term rentals. I literally let all of my management contracts age out and close down so I could completely focus on this. I had my other form of income, but that was done. But so I didn't really have anything to work with. I felt so small not having any form of income, not knowing where God was going to take me. But one thing that I wasn't going to do is question the fact that this was my journey, this is my path and this is the commitment that I made. So I had to walk in confidence. And something that I thought about is I said, lynia, yeah, you may, you may not experience and whatnot, but essentially you're offering these people a check, whether it's a broker that I'm talking to, a seller that I'm talking to. And I realized that there is value that I'm bringing to the table, which empowered me to walk in confidence. So when you're talking to sellers, when you're talking to brokers, when you're talking to investors, I need you to remember the value that you're bringing them. Walk in confidence. Now breaking that down even further, what does confidence equal? Competence equals competence. One of the reasons that you have gotten into this program is so that you can become more competent. You can gain access to more information. Lean into your information sources. Anytime I had a question, I was going to get it answered. I didn't wait until my coaches were like Lynnea book a call and no, no, no question. I need my question answered. And I didn't just lean on them. I leaned on my community. I wanted to know every single person who was on this journey with me. You see all these faces in here? They are on the same journey as you. Do you know who is in the box next to you? You should. You guys are all on this journey together. Confidence comes from competence. You are going to gain more confidence as you lean in to the information that you're given and to your community. Competence doesn't just mean the knowledge and the information and the accumulation of knowledge. It also means learning from other people's experiences, learning from other people's failures, learning from other people's successes. Right. So make sure that you are hungry for knowledge and hungry for growth. That's going to fuel your confidence. But also remember, I'm bringing something valuable to the table. I'm bringing an opportunity to make money. When we're talking about the capital raising side of things, and I'm going to dive into that a little bit deeper as well. When we're talking about the capital raising side of things, you're offering people an opportunity for their money to make money. I'm going to get to that in a second because I got to, I got to go to the deeper on that one. Okay. You don't need to know everything though to walk in confidence and to get a deal that I can say that because I had closed my first deal before I had even finished all of my trainings. So walk in confidence knowing that there is so much value to be extracted here. I'm a part of something that brings value. So the deal is going to bring value to you and your goals of expanding your wealth, building your portfolio, all of those good things, and it brings value to so many other people too. Walking competence. So that's number one. Number two, fill in the gaps. Okay? I need you to be extremely clear about what your strengths are and what your weaknesses are. We're talking about for most multiple million dollar assets, big business. And it's, it's not, I'm gonna say it's easy, it's simple. As long as we make the numbers work, as long as we're doing our due diligence, it's a proven strategy. But this is big business that we're doing. Know your strengths and know your weaknesses because when you're clear about that, then we can find a solution. When we know I'm not good in that area, then we can find a solution. Or we might be able to. So when I say fill in the gaps, we might be able to find somebody else who can fill in that gap for us. Or we, we know that we need to fill in that gap for ourselves with some extra time, some extra energy, some diving in. Is it underwriting? I fill in the gaps. I'm making sure I'm analyzing deals even though I don't want to even, I even analyze because I need to fill in that gap for myself. I also, with my investment group, we have an in house underwriting team. They feel their strength. So I know what my strengths are, I know my weaknesses are. Okay. I also know what my value is versus my limitations. What was my limitation on my journey? I didn't have any money, so that meant that I needed to fill in that gap with something else. If I don't have the money to bring to the deal, what do I have? Oh, I've got the time. Oh, I have all these years in sales, I don't mind asking people for money, especially if I know that I'm going to be able to double their money in three to five years. But out of, you know, doing this, and that's, that's my value, knew what my value was versus my limitations and I made sure that I filled in those gaps. Okay? You cannot afford to have gaps. When we're managing multiple million dollar assets, you can't afford to have gaps. So if you can't fill it, be humble enough to know that you can't fill it and go get it filled. However, whatever means necessary, go get filled. Okay, fill in the gaps. Number three, you have to be radically accountable for your success. Radically accountable for your success. I had coaches who had thousands of units and I had access to them and I had my peers who also had the same access to them. And they would come to me and they would complain to me like, yeah, I mean, they just told me that I need to go research my market. You understand? They have exactly what you want. I, I Just have all these questions and I don't understand. So this is my friend. You understand that they have. Why aren't you getting your questions answered? Your questions answered? Be 110%. Forget that. Be a thousand percent accountable for your success. I wasn't going to let there be any gaps for myself. It goes back to number two. I knew, like I'm coming into this. I don't. My investment group has over. We have thousands of units. I didn't. I didn't know the cap rate. I don't know anything. But I wasn't going to let anything stop me from being successful. I burnt my boat. Wasn't going to let anything stop me from being successful. I can't afford not be successful. Do you have that same mindset that you cannot afford to be. To not be successful? Do you have that same mindset? And are you making. Are you money's worth? But you gotta, you gotta get his word because you invested that money, right? I love what Myron golden talks about. I think I mentioned this in my last call. He said, all work works, but you gotta work the work. So lean on your resources. Make sure you get your questions answered and make sure that the ball is in your court. I got to get this done. And something I thought about all the time. I don't ever want to lean too much on the program that I was a part of. I don't. I don't want too much on them because I'm not always going to have them. I got to know this for myself. I got to get this for myself. All I know is they have what I want to have. They have the expertise. They have the resources. They're providing it for me. I got to go get it. Remember, this is your business. Your freedom, your dreams, your purpose, your call. When we meet Jesus one day, we don't get to say, hey, I wanted to do this, but this happened, or they didn't do this for me. But that was the call that I gave you. That was the assignment that I gave you. So just make sure that you have that mindset. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, this team and I know Chris is here, an incredible one of our coaches. We have meetings every single day. We pray over you guys every single day. We communicate with each other on how can we best serve every single day. We want to help, we want to serve, we want to support. But it's up to you to make sure that you're getting everything that you can get out of this. And we want to do that. With you. We want to make sure that we're partnering with you on that. Okay. And that was the difference between my story and some of my peers. Some of my peers have the same or similar stories, and many of them don't because of those three things. And mainly number three.
