Jeff Lee, a technologist-turned-investor, gives a short first-person testimonial about his experience investing in multifamily properties after joining a faith-based investing community. He highlights three main takeaways: (1) the community’s faith-based identity was a primary attraction, (2) the broad collective experience of members (lawyers, technologists, commercial real estate professionals, lenders, brokers) has been highly valuable as he advances in multifamily investing, and (3) face-to-face events and boardroom interactions foster connection, shared vision, and practical learning that he finds game-changing.
My name is Jeff Lee. My background is in technology. I grew up in technology and a couple years ago I decided to start investing in multifamily properties. I got connected and the very first thing that stood out to me was that this is a faith based community and I really valued that. And so that was the first, very first thing that stood out. The second thing that stood out to me initially was the vast amount of experience. And so it's not just experience in commercial real estate, it's all different sorts of different types of experiences. You have people that have practiced law, you have people that are in technology like me. You have folks that have done commercial real estate for years and years and years. You have lenders, you have brokers, you have lots of different collective experience amongst the community. And that's been really helpful, especially as I take step further steps in investing in multifamily. This has definitely been game changing being here. I think it's not just setting aside time for me to focus on this. It's meeting people face to face, it's learning about their experiences, it's learning about their motivations, it's learning about in many cases, the shared vision that many of us have. So I think that's been the best part of this event. And being a part of the boardroom, it just really this event opens my eyes to the whole team and creates a greater connection between me and the fellow community members.
