#1 - Big announcement! Not just intermittent fasting (or flat belly) shortcuts anymore
19 Sept 2019 · 13 min
In the inaugural episode of the Jorge Cruise Podcast, bestselling author and celebrity trainer Jorge Cruise welcomes listeners and announces a major expansion of his wellness brand beyond the well‑known intermittent‑fasting program Cruise Control. He explains that the podcast will deliver weekly “shortcuts” to help mid‑life adults work better, reduce pain, improve memory, garden more, and sleep better. Cruise outlines a three‑pillar approach: (1) Nutrition and intermittent fasting (Cruise Control), emphasizing “cheating the fast” with cheat meals; (2) Movement, highlighted by his revived 8‑Minute Yoga routine, which he positions as a quick, equipment‑free way to boost serotonin, dopamine, strength, and mobility; and (3) Cognitive/behavioral strategies, including sleep hacks, supplements, biohacks, and even gardening as a form of exercise. He shares personal anecdotes about injuries, mid‑life clients (e.g., Steve Harvey, Brooke Burke), and his own experience with back pain, underscoring the importance of maintaining freedom of movement. Cruise promotes the podcast’s launch date (Monday, September 23), weekly live meetings (Mondays 5:30 PM PT/8:30 PM ET), a free‑week trial of his online portal, and multiple channels for engagement (jorgecruise.com, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, #JorgeCruisePodcast, #8MinuteYoga). He repeatedly calls listeners to subscribe, rate the show, and share it, framing the program as empowerment to “live as you choose” and to have the best years ahead.

Hi, I'm Jorge Cruise, number one New York Times bestselling author and celebrity trainer, and I want to welcome you to the all-new Jorge Cruise Podcast. Every week I'll bring you the shortcuts to work better, reduce pain, improve memory, garden more, and even sleep better. It's not just about intermittent fasting or getting a flat belly. My mission is to give you simple ways that will empower you to to live as you choose. Welcome to the Jorge Cruise Podcast. Hey everyone, it's Jorge Cruise and welcome to a special, special podcast. Uh, this is, uh, volume 1, episode 1. This is number 1, and it's a welcome podcast because I want to give you a little update from Jorge himself. Uh, I got some emails from you guys and I want to first thank you for sending emails, always at hello@jorgecruise.com. Again, that's hello@jorgecruise.com. I think I made an an email that everyone can spell finally. And I got some emails and you guys were beyond excited on Monday and Tuesday because I did something that I haven't done in a little bit of time. Uh, I have— 20 years ago in 2001, about 20 years ago, I launched my very first book called 8 Minutes in the Morning. And it was a simple way to start your day that toned and firmed your body at home. It was super simple. And I just relaunched that version of exercise this last Monday. And I'll tell you, my email blew up, I got a lot of DMs. So many of you guys were in love that I was doing this now 8-minute yoga. We kind of created a hashtag, #8MinuteYoga, and it's kind of gone crazy and viral already in less than a week. And I feel like after reading emails and DMs from Instagram and Facebook, I feel like I had to do something. And so this is my announcement. I'm gonna do a drum roll, a proper drum roll on the table. Nothing too fancy. But here's the bottom line, guys. You have asked me to go beyond intermittent fasting, and as much as I love Cruise Control and believe in it as a powerful modality, and hopefully you'll always pick up a book of Cruise Control, the diet, it's out there, it's everywhere, Books-A-Shelf's number one in the country. I love my Cruise Control because it teaches us the power of intermittent fasting and how to cheat it, more importantly, so you're never hungry with these cheat meals. And I have a paperback edition coming out in January, so it's going to be amazing. I love it. But you love the exercise as well, the minute, uh, yoga, and so to make something more comprehensive, so it's not Cruise Control, 'cause Cruise Control obviously is about intermittent fasting, it's what the book's about, and I created that podcast just for that. We've interviewed a lot of great people, but here's what we're doing. We're gonna expand that to bring in the 3 parts of what I call wellness, and that is obviously understanding that nutrition, that fitness begins in the kitchen, and that intermittent fasting, what I call Cheating the fast, or, you know, feasting while fasting is critical. And obviously there's a book that goes with this whole method called Cruise Control. You can get it anywhere. So that's really the first pillar, if you will, of health, of wellness. The second one is understanding that movement is critical to mental health. Yes, it's gonna firm, tone, build cardiovascular health, but the reason I created 8 Minutes in the Morning was originally more for those vanity reasons— to look good, to look toned, to look leaner. But I'll tell you, the internal benefits, the the surface, underneath the surface, underneath the good looks, the strong arms, the strong core, strong butt, all those things, you know. Exercise is the most efficient modality to transform how good you feel and how to transform serotonin in your body and dopamine. The science on using exercise as a rapid way to transform your emotional well-being, your mental health, is proven. And I'll tell you, I'm in midlife and a lot of my celebrity clients like Steve Harvey are in midlife. Brooke Burke is 48. A lot of people are near 50. I work with so many people that are over 40, shall we say, more in their 50s and 60s and 70s. And if that's you, kind of like me, we're in the second chapter. And how do we make the second chapter better than the next? Well, it's really, in my opinion, very simple. It's about understanding that as much as we, how can I say, want to lose weight and get a flat stomach, it's about living as you choose as you get older. Because for me, there have been times I've been sick, I have a bad back, I've had adhesions in my shoulders, I've broken an ankle or fractured an ankle and had a cast and limping around and all that. And I can tell you, losing your freedom and your mobility Physically is scary. It's scary for me. I'm getting closer to 50. I don't know how scary it is for you, but what this podcast is here— it's for people in our age group that want to work better, that want to have that edge over a 20-year-old, that want to reduce pain, whatever that pain is, you know, reduce it, improve memory and recall. As I can tell you, there are ways to improve your memory, and you don't have to go into dementia. You don't have to go into this place where you could lose your marbles, literally, that you can fortify your mind. And it's important, it really is. And there's simple strategies to recover like that. Gardening is a big deal. So many of you wrote me about having a garden and that you prefer to— does gardening, you know, was a question, count as an exercise? And it sure does. And it's a good thing. It's a win-win for the earth. It's a good win-win for you. It gets you out in nature. I challenge you all to plant a garden. I really do. And you're going to garden more with, with this method of, of really this three-prong approach, three-prong approach. And you're going to sleep better because so many of you in midlife are not sleeping. And drinking more wine, as much as I like a glass every night, is not the key. And using edibles, whether it's medical marijuana— I know on the COVID of AARP, I'm going to be posting it, they just did a big feature on medical marijuana, and it's kind of a big deal. It's legal in 33 states, and it can help you sleep better. And there are modalities on that. So we're going to be talking about all these kind of revolutionary, cutting-edge biohacks, from intermittent fasting to cheating it, to using healthy fats, to how to fortify your body through yoga to reduce pain, to improving your memory through certain supplements and nutritional needs that you may have, and how to get that strength back in your lower body, upper body, and your wrists, in your body, just everywhere. So you have that empowerment. And again, it's not so you look better necessarily, it's about really living as you choose and just feeling healthy. And it doesn't mean all your conditions may go away, but you feel healthy and you can get to work. And there's no pain. I think that's what this is about. And so I wanna call it the Jorge Movement or the Jorge Podcast. So if you guys can help me spread the word that #JorgeCruisePodcast is launched. Give us 5 stars please. It starts this Monday, September 23rd. And it's so much more than cruise control. And I love cruise control and I'm not retiring it. We're gonna talk about it here in this podcast, of course. But we're also gonna talk about movement and 8-minute moves. We're gonna talk about yoga. We're gonna talk about recovery. We're gonna talk about how to ask big, 'cause that's a program I'm really excited about and wanna share with you about how to create internal strength to go through things in life, midlife, whatever part of life, so you can overcome obstacles and not feel like your best years are behind you. More importantly, you can feel absolutely confident with this podcast that your best years are in front of you. And that's really what this podcast is about, and it's giving you the power to live as you choose, which is true empowerment. So I hope that makes good sense, guys. I just wanted to share this with you because I'm so excited. I didn't want to wait till Monday. And I want you to know that you can just go to jorgecruise.com. It's the center for all this. Uh, the website is really the, the place where we have all 3 modalities. Obviously, try cruise control. Check out my meeting on Mondays at 5:30 PM Pacific time. I have a little quick announcement I wanted to add here at the end of the show, and that is for you to join me every single week for my 8-minute yoga routine that is on the web. It's free. Uh, I usually post it up on Instagram, so you'd have to follow me on Instagram, but you can also see it on Facebook. It's also on YouTube. On Instagram is where we put it first. It's Monday mornings. You can use it all week long. It's an 8-minute full flow routine that's designed to help you work better, reduce pain in your body, improve your memory. It'll help you end up sleeping better. You'll even garden better. And you will need no equipment, although you can use kettlebells if you like. I use kettlebells at times. I love, uh, the strength option of doing that, but for many of my clients at over 50, just using your own body weight is all you need. Keep it simple. You don't need a fancy yoga mat. If you have one, use it, bring it out. Just, you can wear your pajamas. You know, I do, I just wear my yoga pants and then we do this and I post it on Mondays live in the morning. Uh, it's recorded, but then it's, it's posted and I, and I do it just for you. So check it out. Go to instagram.com/jorgecruise. If you're on If you're on Facebook, it's @JorgeCruise. If you're on YouTube, it's @JorgeCruise. And again, Jorge Cruise is spelled J-O-R-G-E-C-R-U-I-S-E. And it's everywhere. And if you go to my website, I put it in my blog as well. So check it out because it is a resource that I feel is gonna give you the empowerment you need to not just feel healthy, it's about really just living as you choose. It gives you that power, that edge to come from the right perspective that's gonna give you the advantage over say, 20-year-old, because you're gonna have the confidence, the endorphins, the strength for you to move forward. And I feel like sometimes, you know, we forget how powerful movement is for our own mental well-being. And if you want good mental health, yoga is life-changing. I've been doing it for 15 years because I got adhesions and knots in my back, and I had this severe pain that was debilitating. I wasn't able to work or type. So for me, it was critical. And in 8 minutes you can transform all that, literally. And it's just like brushing your teeth, you do it every day. But join me, and every week there's a new one. So check it out, you can use it all throughout Monday through Friday. It's a great 8-minute flow, you're gonna love it. Hashtag is #8MinuteYoga. Check it out, I'm the 8 Minute Guy, I've been doing it for 20 years. Come join me, guys, you're gonna love it. All right, have a beautiful rest of your day.
