#103 - Happy new year, make 2021 your best year ever!
2 Jan 2021 · 29 min
In this New Year’s Day episode of the Jorge Cruise Show, host Jorge Cruise introduces listeners to his flagship “Zero Hunger Water” electrolyte formula (half a teaspoon of sodium, optionally with magnesium and potassium) that he claims instantly suppresses hunger and cravings when paired with a high‑fat, low‑carb (keto) diet. He explains how the water helps regulate cortisol and facilitates fat loss, and provides the simple recipe and sourcing tips. Cruise then shares his personal 72‑hour intermittent fast, describing his current 24‑hour mark, energy levels, and how the water supports the fast. He promotes the upcoming 19‑day “Zero Hunger Plan” challenge starting January 4, detailing the community format, coaching sessions, and the inclusion of workout and nutrition guidance. The episode also features a brief, Tony‑Robbins‑inspired goal‑setting exercise called the “compelling future,” where listeners are guided to write down a vivid, emotionally charged vision for 2021 that will pull them forward rather than push. Throughout, Cruise thanks sponsors Elemental Labs (electrolyte packets) and Dr. Tess (collagen tablets), providing discount codes and URLs. He closes with a call to action to subscribe, review, and share the podcast, emphasizing his mission to transform a million lives through the Zero Hunger Revolution.

Hi, my name is Jorge Cruise and I'm the number one New York Times bestselling author and leading fitness, nutrition, and peak performance trainer to the world's busiest celebrities. You may have seen my work with Oprah Winfrey, Khloe Kardashian, Tyra Banks, Kelly Clarkson, or even Dr. Oz. My career started because in my early 20s I was out of control and addicted to sweets, carbs and salty snacks, and experts told me to simply count calories to get control. They were wrong. My passion to get control of my hunger led me to find simple ways backed by science that would turn off physical hunger as well as my emotional eating instantly, and I know I can help you too. Welcome to the Jorge Cruise Show. Well, happy Friday! It is January 1st. I'm Jorge, and welcome to the Jorge Cruise Show. And happy New Year! Uh, it is 2021, guys. I'm so excited. Now I'm doing this show, uh, it's Friday night. Um, kind of feels a little weird because it felt like Friday night last night. It was New Year's Eve. I spent it with my sons, and, uh, it was kind of fun. It was a mellow night at home, not like last year or the year before, I think, for all of us, right? Because today, here's the great thing, uh, being that it's the kickoff to the weekend and it is the first day of 2021. And if you're like me, you know, I hope you know that this podcast has become really a place where you can get the support you need to get that radical control over sugar, carbs, and salty snack foods. Because I'll tell you, last night I wanted to eat some snack foods and all that, but I'll tell you, as much as I had an adult beverage, we'll say Uh, I felt so in control. It was like a, a really unique night for me because I felt like the culmination of my entire career. You know, I've been in publishing for over 20 years now, uh, it'd be 20 years this year, um, and as a trainer, uh, 25 years. And in all my time being someone who's been out there helping folks, you know, I've really not struggled, but it's always been an effort. You know, I've had to push myself and kind of discipline myself to, to eat right and to exercise and all all that. Now, for me right now, exercise has become almost like a drug. It's positive, you know, and it's a good drug. But eating less carbs and sugars and salty snack foods has always been hard. But on today's show, we're going to talk about a solution. You've heard me talk about the Zero Hunger Water, which is basically, um, trace minerals that we're missing in our body. Uh, it's sodium, magnesium, potassium— pretty much just sodium. It's about half a teaspoon. We add it to 32 ounces of water, and it literally turns off your hunger. So we're gonna talk about that recipe so you guys have that. But so many of you have been direct messaging me, emailing me about this recipe and wanting to know how to use it, how often to use it. So we're gonna talk about the Zero Hunger Water today. But I also wanna share with you what I think is so important, because as much as you may have a tool that can turn off your hunger, it can turn off cravings, it can help you balance and reset cortisol, which is really your body's ability to tap into stored fat around your waistline. Because when cortisol goes up high from stress or from sugar or inflammation, you're not able to lose weight easily. So we're going to talk about all that. But I'll tell you, the thing that's going to get you to do this successfully is really the second part of what I want to share with you today. And this is something you can do over the weekend. You can do it tomorrow, Saturday or Sunday. You can do it tonight. And it's something I've done for 20-some years now because I learned this when I was 23 from Anthony Robbins. And it's kind of a goal-setting workshop. And it's not going to be long. I'll keep it to 5 minutes. But it's about creating what we call a compelling future, because you need something that will compel you to utilize Zero Hunger Water. And if it's just to turn off your hunger, that's a great start. But it's got to be something that's visceral, emotional, that really gets you excited. For me, I'm turning 50 this year, and so I'm excited about really redefining 50. I have a lot of friends that tell me I look like I'm in my mid-30s, and I always say thank you. But I do feel younger than 50, and I do feel like my lifestyle has given me an edge, you know. And for me, I want to make that edge even better this year, 2021, which is hard to say, but it is 2021. And I want to turn 50, uh, not just in style, but I want to, I want to redefine what that looks like, what that feels like for me. And so that's my biggest goal right now. And I got about 90 days till my birthday. So it's exciting, but at the same time, the next 90 days for me is really about taking my game to the next level. You know, for example, tonight I'm doing a 72-hour fast. Now, I haven't done this before. I've done, uh, 48 hours. And typically what we do on Zero Hunger Plan is most of my clients will end up drinking 6 of these beverages, and takes them to about 5 or 6 at night. So they drink Zero Hunger water, 32 ounces, about 6 of them, And then by the time they're done drinking these and they get a little hungry, you end up eating. You know, you have your keto-based type of meal, which is high fat, high protein, turns off hunger for the rest of the night and keeps you full, healthy, keeps your muscles strong, keeps your body looking its best all throughout the next 24 hours. And then you do it again. But I have only, you know, I've been doing that a lot. I've been doing that since almost the middle of summer of this year. And for me, you know, more than, if you go back 5 years, I never did. What we call intermittent fasting. It was something so foreign to me. If anything, I was taught by my grandmother who raised me, she was a Latina from Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia. She would say, "You have to eat," in Spanish, right? "And you have to eat." And if you weren't chubby or round, you were unhealthy and you were going to be weak and you could get some disease and have a weakened immune system. And the irony is because of COVID-19, we all know that underlying health conditions aren't from being too lean. It comes from being heavy. It's, it comes— it's the opposite of what my grandma taught me, right? And literally, the leaner you are, the healthier your immune system, the healthier you'll be. And I don't mean scary skinny, you don't want to do that. But truly, you're— the human body, our bodies can go days without eating, especially if you have some body fat, you know. And I got my, my body fat measured recently, 18%, not bad, but I want to get to 8%. So I want to get to a higher level of lean. And for me, I've never been that low, under 10%. And so that's my goal for '50. I'll keep you posted on it. So I want to challenge you to come up with a goal for you that compels you in 2021. So we're going to do that as well on today's show. We're going to do both things. We're going to talk about the Zero Hunger Water and then lighting something that ignites within you, lighting a fire, if you will, that will propel you forward effortlessly, not, not have to push you. There's a difference between push and pull. We're going to talk about all that. So I'm excited for today's show, especially being that that it's the first day of 2021. Super perfect timing for that. Now, before we get started, I gotta say thank you to our sponsors. We're brought to you by Elemental Labs. Thank you so much, guys, for supporting us. Elemental Labs was created by a dear friend of mine, Rob Wolf. He's created these little packets of sodium, magnesium, potassium— literally, um, a shortcut to creating your zero hunger water. You just order these online. He's giving us $40— a $45 value when you do a value bundle for 2021. It's exclusive to the show, so check it out. Go to this website, go to drinkelement.com/jorge, and you'll get a free box of the electrolytes. It's a $45 value when you do a value bundle, and you can select flavors that are awesome. I typically will order, um, you know, this bundle and it'll last me the whole month, and I usually have about 4 to 6 a day, usually 6. It's what I've been doing. And when I fast longer, like I'm doing right now, I obviously need more. So try these, these are delicious. Go to the website again, let me spell it for you because it's kind of a unique spelling. It's drinkelement.com, and element— I'll spell the whole thing— it's D-R-I-N-K-L-M-E-N-T.com/jorge, J-O-R-G-E, and get your free box of electrolytes. If you do a subscription to this where you get it every month automatically, you save even more money. So check it out, and a very special thank you to Rob Wolf for doing this for us. Super excited and great to him. We're also brought to you by shopdrtesse.com. Now, Dr. Tess is America's favorite dermatologist. She and I met on set at, um, I think it was CBS Studios in Los Angeles on the show called The Talk with Sharon Osbourne. Super incredible woman, dedicated— has dedicated her life to, to, to aesthetic beauty. She is trained at Stanford University, and out of her passion for beautiful skin, hair, joints, nails, all that. She's created these collagen tablets that I take every single day because as much as I like a high-fat, high-protein diet, unless you're eating bone marrow, like the inside of bones, what they call collagen, it's the same thing. You're not getting this. You don't get this when you eat a steak or a burger or chicken or fish or eggs or cheese. You don't get collagen. Collagen only comes from bone. Marrow. So in 2021, I want to challenge you, especially if you've got a bit of weight to lose, to use collagen because it's going to help you recoil skin. And if you only have a couple pounds to lose, take it so you have beautiful skin regardless. It's going to help bring back elasticity, it's going to help you recoil skin, it's going to keep you young. And it also helps with hair and joints and nails. So if you're older and you have a bad back or you have a bad knee, it can help rebuild a lot of the tissue that we've lost in the, in the and the actual connective tissue. So collagen is powerful. And typically, this is something that never existed before. You know, back when I was a teenager or in college, collagen was unheard of unless you literally boiled bones. And, uh, but now because of modern technology, you can take a capsule, or these tablets I should say. And that's Dr. Tess. To get 50% off her, what she calls Lively Healthy Skin, which is a collagen tablet, simply go to her website shopdrtesse.com. Shopdrtes.com, S-H-O-P-D-R-T-E-S-S dot com. And the coupon code at checkout is Dr. Tess, T-R-T-E-S-S. All right, and last but not least, we are brought to you by my website that's hosting our 19-day challenge this coming Monday, January the 4th, zerohungerplan.com. I want you to check it out because we're going to be sending out this weekend, probably on Sunday, uh, an invitation to everyone that got accepted to the plan, and then you'll have all the information, link to sign up and get involved. So Monday, you can literally start the first Monday of 2021 with me live for 19 days. And we go straight through the weekends and all that. We go 5 o'clock live Pacific time. So wherever you are, we had people from Australia last time, we had people in, in France and Italy, we had people from around the country. I think we had 12 countries represented in our last challenge. We had 800 people apply. We ended up having 100. So check it out, and it's available right now. If you go there, you can add your name to what's called the waitlist, and then we'll email you as soon as we have all the details and links so you can sign up and join us. The website is zero— Z-E-R-O— hungerplan.com. And I'll talk about it at the end of the show too, just for a minute, because I really think if, if you're wanting to transform your health, being coached by me for 19 days. You can do the plan too without the coaching. You can do it and you'll save money, but for a little bit more money, you literally get me and the coaching, uh, combined with the materials. So you have everything you need. You know what to eat, you know how to create all these different beverages that we're going to talk about right now, and you have the, the essence of a community to support you. It's powerful. So check it out. It'll be starting this Monday. I hope you do. ZeroHungerPlan.com. So with that said, let's get cooking, guys. It's the 1st of January. It is Friday night. You and me right now, let's think about this. And if you're hearing this over the weekend, this is a great time regardless to work on your future. Because think about it, 2020 can be the best year of your entire life, and you just have to make a decision. It's all in our heads, because whether COVID stays or COVID goes, you know, as they always say, plan for the best but expect the worst. And with that said, we want to still be happy. We want to be healthy and happy and strong. So the first thing we're going to talk about was the Zero Hunger Water. I'm going to tell you right now, Zero Hunger Water really gives your body, uh, a source of this deficiency that we have of these minerals— sodium, magnesium, and potassium. And if you go to the show notes for today's show, 103, it's episode 103, you will get the recipe. You can also get it at ZeroHungerWater.com. .com. We'll have that next week there, but just go to the show notes, just go to jorgecruzeshow.com, look at, uh, under episodes, you'll see episode 103, today's episode. You get the recipe. It's so simple. You have most of these ingredients on hand. Sodium especially. We'll give you the links and the brands if you need to get magnesium, potassium. You don't need a lot of it. It's a much smaller amount, and you can start it right away, even with just the sodium. And in a nutshell, here's the recipe. If you just keep it to the bare bones, it's half a teaspoon of sodium salt. I prefer an ancient source like Himalayan salt, pink salt, right, or anything that's from underground deep mines. Because one of my favorites is, uh, is a, is a one in Utah that's 6 miles underground. It's called Real Salt. It's amazing. But it doesn't matter the brand, just make sure it's hopefully not a contaminated source of salt. And what you're going to discover right now is that this sodium, if it's paired without a high-carb diet— so we're going to talk about the diet in a sec because what you want is a high protein, high fat diet, which is very keto. If you do it that way, sodium will never raise blood pressure. It only goes up when you eat an insulin spiking diet, which is typically pasta and pizza and all that. And the great thing is, if you join our challenge, I'm going to show you how to make those, those comfort foods with a different type of substitution for the carbs. So you can do it, still get a pizza, still get pasta, but you're going to learn how to make things like spaghetti squash, which is super low in sugar, doesn't spike insulin, and you can still get the same texture and flavor. There's a pizza that's super delicious. There's obviously a lot of meat-based dishes, protein, fish, chicken. You're going to learn how to make it delicious, and you're going to want it high fat too. So you're going to learn all this if you sign up. And again, just go to zerohungerplan.com to get all the details on that if you want. But more importantly, this recipe is free, so check it out. That's at the show, jorgecruiseshow.com. And it's gonna miraculously do the one thing we haven't been able to do, which is turn off your desire, your cravings for sugar, carbs, and salty snack foods. And that's what this game is all about, because those are the only foods really, the macronutrient called carbohydrate is literally the only thing we overeat. No one overeats protein, almost no one overeats fat. That's where we get control in 2021. And when you get that kind of control, you're unlimited, you're unstoppable. And for me, that's the only stuff I crave when I'm fasting. So right now I'm, you know, entering almost, uh, my 24th hour of fasting. I'm going to continue for 2 more days. I'll keep you posted. We'll talk about it tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. But I've never felt better. I have high energy and I've been drinking the water all day. I'm on my 6th, uh, 32-ounce bottle. I'll put I'll probably have one more before bed. There's even one for a chocolate-flavored recipe, which you're going to love. And it's super simple, super simple. And you're going to drink water. It's going to work, and it's going to be different than regular water because it will turn off that hunger and it'll help facilitate the baseline, ideal baseline of cortisol, which helps you release belly fat. So that's the first part. Second part is this thing called the compelling future. And being that it's New Year's day, and it's the first day of 2021, and it's Friday night. This is my favorite thing to share with you right now, because for me, what I had to do years and years and years ago was have this taught to me by Tony Robbins. And it's so simple, because I'll give you an example. When I was in my 20s, I thought I was going to go to law school. I wanted to get into government. I wanted to go to Washington, D.C. So as someone who was young and didn't have parents that really guided me too much, I kind of just felt this desire to help, and I wanted to help people. And I thought it was going to be going to Washington, D.C., and I'd become an attorney, then maybe a congressman, then maybe a senator, and then I could get, you know, work at the White House, do something like that. That was really my plan. When I was 18 years old, I went to this thing called Presidential Classroom in Washington, D.C., and it was super fun. It was all 18-year-old kids from around the country that were hand-selected, and I got to go because I was Latino. So they always needed some Latino guys, and I was the one. And it was fun. And so I got hooked on that, and I thought that was going to be my life. Well, flash— or move forward, flash forward, or move forward, whatever the saying is— to my junior year in college, I had my degree pretty much done in political science. And now I had met some people that went to law school that had been attorneys and had quit And I was like, why? And these were fraternity brothers of mine. I was in a Sigma Chi fraternity, and they had really been— what's the word— uh, overwhelmed with the career choice. They weren't thrilled. They were, if anything, warning me to be careful, to be cautious, because they had overdrank, overused substances. I mean, when you get stressed, you know, there's a survival mechanism in us. And what if we don't go to sugar and carbs? Some people go to go to drugs and alcohol, you know. And so they had been through that, and they said, you know, if you can find something else to do, you should do it. And so I kind of got closer to the real deal. And as I got closer to that career choice, I said, you know what, what am I going to do? So as luck would have it, I met Tony Robbins. And through his work and through his, his support, he helped me really realize, like, if I couldn't fail, I would want to be healthy, because I was an unhealthy kid in high school and in I was, I was asthmatic, I was overweight, I didn't play sports, I had issues with, you know, my weight being almost 240 back then. I was 40 pounds heavier than I am right now. I'm kind of in the low 200s or upper 190, 189, usually 199, 200 is my baseline weight. But I was 40 pounds heavier and it wasn't muscle, it was all fat. And so for me, you know, that was my passion, kind of a personal private one. But when he said, what would you do if you couldn't and fail, I was like, well, I'd lose the weight and I'd help others, you know, maybe not through politics, but through health. And I was thinking, well, what am I going to do? Am I going to go back to school? Went to UCSD, they have a medical school. I was like, oh, do I do that? I'll be 40 by the time I ever help anyone. And I thought, well, you know what? I may want to be a trainer and help people through exercise, because I knew for me, that was my dream. And as I talked to Tony, the more and more we spoke, the more he got me to realize, I said, that was totally doable. So it was like a lightning bolt hit me, and I basically flipped my career around, dropped political science even though it was completed. Still have the diploma here in my house, but have never really used it. And I became a trainer, then a nutritionist, then I just went after a lot of other credentials down to even yoga instruction. And I can tell you, for me, health and fitness has become not just my passion, It's my obsession, you know, because it is my compelling future. And now that I'm going to be 50, as I shared, guys, it's really my goal to redefine that. So you can imagine the kind of motivation I have inside to take what I've done for 25 years as a career, 20 years in publishing, and now that I'm turning 50, Zero Hunger Plan is the tool that I'm using to transform. You know, I'm trying to lower my body fat to 8%, which is intense for someone my age, But you know, we've had people on the plan that have lost like 21 pounds in 19 days, and you do it all with the Zero Hunger Water. So here's what I want you to do right now, and I'm gonna put some music on, give you a minute to do this. I want you to take a deep breath in, and if you have something to write with, maybe a yellow pad or a journal or some sort of book, you know, something other than a Post-it note hopefully, but if that's all you got, then that's all you got. And then I want you to, with the music on here, I want you I want you to think about, about your life, but more importantly, what would you do if you couldn't fail in 2021? What would you do? And think of it as a time to come out of a cocoon. Hopefully we're all kind of reemerging, hopefully. And if not, you can still be in that cocoon, but in your mind, you're emerging as someone who now may make better choices, may change their career path. And we may all have to do that because I can tell you, I've definitely done new things now in 2020, and in 2021 I'll be continuing them that I never thought I would be doing. Zoom coaching, I've never done that before, and it was all in person before, but now I can help more people, which I love. And so you may have to redefine your career. You may have to expand it. You know, as much as I love books, I love Zoom meetings more. I love social media. I love Instagram, Facebook Live, and all that. And it's very different than it was 20 years ago when I started my career in 2001. Very different. So with that said, guys, take a deep breath in and think about your future this year. And if you couldn't fail in 2021, what would you do this year? What would you do that would get you excited? And try to make it something that really is visceral for you, that makes you feel good. You know, is it hopefully a trip a trip, maybe this summer, where you have a bathing suit on and you're like me at 8% body fat and looking quite good, looking very beach body ready? Is it something more important, maybe your health? You know, not that looking good isn't important because it's our confidence, but is it overcoming diabetes? Is it lowering your waist circumference to 32 inches or less? Is it overcoming some sort of medication you're on that you're only using because of your You know, is it becoming stronger? And so when you get the, the COVID vaccine, you don't get the symptoms that some people have been getting because your immune system is strong and you're not, you're not addicted to sugar and carbs that lowers your immune system. What is it for you that would motivate you in 2021 that would put the wind in your sail so you are pushed forward like the wind pushing you? It's not effort. It's not like you're pushing yourself. It's just, it's, it's pulling you forward. You know, it's almost like magic. Think of it more when we think of magic, think of magnets. Think of a magnet. You guys know when you take the two ends of a magnet and that they're not the right setup, they push apart. But when you turn them around and they face each other and they're set up right, they pull each other in. That's what we want here. I want you to be pulled forward. Forward to want to do this, not being pushed. You don't need someone to yell and scream and say you're lazy, you, you are not capable, and giving you a lecture. What you need is to drop that and to find something that you care about so much in 2021 that this becomes your obsession— not a passion, even an obsession— to make this year your healthiest, fittest year ever. You know, Zero Hunger The plan also includes a workout plan and thinking positive, but this is a key part of what we're doing right now. This whole idea of creating a compelling future. That's what you need in 2021. All right. So take another minute. I'm going to keep my mouth shut, music on, and write this down right now. What would you do if you couldn't fail? Take this minute for yourself right now. All right, with that said, let's call it time. If you need more time, you can obviously pause the podcast, just hit the pause button, whether you're listening on Apple or Spotify or wherever. But here's what I will say: with this exercise done and with you having a reason that hopefully is not just something superficial, or hey, I want to lose 20 pounds— not a lot of motion in a number like 20 pounds or 50 or 100. You got to write down why you want to lose that weight, why you want to improve your health. And sometimes we want motivation in a sense of a stick, and sometimes it's a carrot. I prefer carrots because they pull you forward. A carrot's going to pull you forward. A stick, obviously you need someone to, to be working the stick, and I'd rather not. I've had enough of that in my life. I don't know about you. So, uh, please listen to this podcast again, share share it today or this weekend with your loved ones, especially on your social media. Um, share it with loved ones that need to focus on their health and let's make 2021 the best year of our entire lives. And with that said, I also want to invite you to join me on Monday, January the 4th. Check it out. Just go to zerohungerplan.com and put your name on the waitlist. You'll get info this weekend. All right, let's have a great, great weekend, guys. Enjoy this peace and purpose. Hope you had a great New Year's Day, and please share this message with all your loved ones.
