Hi, my name is Jorge Cruise and I'm the number one New York Times bestselling author and leading fitness, nutrition, and peak performance trainer to the world's busiest celebrities. You may have seen my work with Oprah Winfrey, Khloe Kardashian, Tyra Banks, Kelly Clarkson, or even Dr. Oz. My career started because in my early 20s I was out of control and addicted to sweets, carbs and salty snacks, and experts told me to simply count calories to get control. They were wrong. My passion to get control of my hunger led me to find simple ways backed by science that would turn off physical hunger as well as my emotional eating instantly. And I know I can help you too. Welcome to the Jorge Cruise Show.
Well, happy Saturday night.
I'm Jorge, and welcome to the Jorge Cruise Show. This is the number one podcast to get radical control over sugar, carbs, and salty snack foods. And underline the word snack foods because the salt is never the issue. As you probably know if you're a listener of the podcast, that probably the biggest myth, uh, and the biggest misunderstanding in our world, our modern world, especially in 2021 now, and with COVID-19 being epidemic, and you know, so much of what we've learned is that, that these underlying health conditions can all be reduced by losing weight. And, you know, what we've been told for the last 50 years to lose weight is counting calories, or calories in, calories out. And unfortunately, none of that works. There is so, so many ways that you, you can try to do this. But I'll tell you, my whole life has been about this. I've written over 30 books, and this is my 20th year in publishing. And not that I'm not going to continue to write books, but once you've written over 30 books, you kind of scratch your head and say, you know, what is the key to this all? And so if you know my story, this last year in 2020 during COVID I had that, that silence, that stillness to kind of think. And I had a couple conversations that became podcasts on the show here, and that led me to creating the Zero Hunger Plan. And the Zero Hunger Plan is a plan that helps you lose 2 pounds each day. A lot of people think that's hyperbole, that that is bullshit— part of my language, part of my French. I usually never curse, but a lot of people say there's no And they say if it is possible, that it's unsafe. And I'll tell you, I know most plans that are out there, whether it's counting points or counting calories, you know, you're maybe happy with 1 to 2 pounds a week. And, and some people even settle for 1 or 2 pounds a month. But I'll tell you, there's no motivation in my, in my opinion, without results. And so on today's show, I'm so excited to share with you someone who has followed the plan for just 5 days. And in the 5 days, there was one day that this woman, Roxy's her name, Roxy Rodriguez, lost 4 pounds in a day. On average, she lost about 2 pounds a day because in 5 days she's lost 10 pounds. So on average, I have to give her a big round of applause, but she has lost 2 pounds a day. But we're going to sit down and talk on today's show about how she did all this, what caused her, because there's a, there's a recipe to success here that you're going to learn that you can use in your own life. Tonight and start tomorrow if you wanted to, or to start whenever you're ready, but that you can do this and you can see these kind of radical results. Because I'm the guy that, you know, 20 years ago with my first book called 8 Minutes in the Morning gave people a shortcut. And I want you to have for 2021, I think what is the most profound shortcut in the world to reducing weight and to improving health, to having maximum energy. And it's all about understanding how to create a zero hunger window in your life. And you're going to discover how Roxie did this. And how she created a 23-hour window where she wasn't hungry. We call it a zero hunger window, and she ate a very incredible meal for 1 hour. And then that 1 hour after she was completed eating, you'll see in the interview how she extended it further. And she even did a 3-day zero hunger window, which means she didn't eat for 3 days. And you would think she would have been dead and falling apart. We hear all these myths about people that do fasting, and that's another way to call this.
I, I'd rather not call it fasting.
You guys know me, I think of it as the word, because when you think of fasting, you think of Gandhi, you think of people that are skeletons, you think of people that have no energy. And, you know, you're going to meet Roxy, who's 53, who's active, on the go, has so much energy, and she's using the Zero Hunger Water. And I'm super excited because in 6 days as well, Woman's World magazine is doing their cover feature on the Zero Hunger Water. So please mark your calendars for this coming Thursday. I think it's January 28th, where you can go newsstands across the country. There's over 6 million readers, and so I'm super excited for that. But I want to give you the heads up on that, and that's this coming Thursday, Woman's World magazine. And tonight you'll be meeting Roxy and her incredible story of how she dropped literally, uh, 4 pounds in a day and a total of 10 pounds in 5 days. So it's inspirational, especially if you're midlife.
But before we do that, let's give thanks to our sponsors.

And you'll find all about— find out all about it at zerohungerplan.com. All right guys, with that said, let's get started with today's show. I want you to meet Roxy. We just sat down a couple minutes ago, literally just before I recorded this intro, And it's just incredible to meet someone who is 53 years young, going through menopause, has not been able to kind of lose weight, and in less than 5 days lost 10 pounds, literally. And in one of those days, you're gonna find out how she did it, where she lost 4 pounds. There's a, there's a secret there to it. You'll hear about it. It's about extending your zero hunger window. She did it for 3 days, and she didn't even try to. She just wasn't hungry. So that's the power of this plan, guys. So let's get started right now. I want you to meet Miss Roxy Rodriguez.
Everyone, welcome to the podcast.
This is a very special edition.
I'm so excited. What a great way to continue 2021 here. I have a client of mine, Roxy Rodriguez, who is in San Diego. Los Angeles. So, she is in my hometown and I am just so excited that Roxy has been able to join me tonight because she just finished the first 5 days of our 19-Day Challenge, this Zero Hunger Plan Challenge, and we have quite a few people joining her. But she has done some things I haven't seen before. She really has taken the plan to heart and she is joining me on the other line. Roxy, would you say hi to everyone?
Hi, everyone.
Roxy, I am just so excited you are here. Tell everyone kind of why we are here, because obviously the podcast is titled about losing 4 lbs. in a day. But is this true? Because people are like, there is no way. This lady is not being honest. She did not lose 4 lbs. in a single day. But tell them a little bit about that. Now that it has been 5 days, because we started officially on Tuesday and it is Saturday night. So, you have been on it 5 days. So, tell everyone what happened in that 1 day and then how many pounds 5 days. Yeah.
So, being on the Zero Hunger Plan, I was able to lose 2 lbs. each day, but one day I woke up when I was going into the second day and I lost 4 lbs. So, I was very motivated and I continue to be motivated following this plan. I have zero hunger while I am drinking Zero Hunger water. It is amazing. It is hydrating me. I am no longer with my dry lips. I live out here and it is a little dry sometimes. So, I am excited about that. I am not hungry and I am just motivated to see that number on the scale go down. So, and as of today, Saturday night, tell everybody about how you can join us.
Well, no, we are going to get everyone probably interested, but tell everyone. So, as of tonight, Saturday night, how many lbs. total then?
This morning I lost another 2 lbs., so 10 lbs. and I just started on Tuesday.
Yeah, Tuesday. So, that is literally 2 lbs. a day for 5 days straight. I mean, you are my, you are the teacher's pet here. You have rock started here. I feel like people don't believe me when I say you can lose 2 lbs. a day and you have done it. Now, on average, it has been 2 lbs. because obviously one of those days you lost 4 lbs. But I thought, let's get right into it because I want people to know your story. But I know people right now are waiting to know, how you did this. I know you are also someone who is in midlife. You know, I am almost 50. I turned 50 this year in 2021, and you are now, how young are you, Aroxi?
I am 53, so there are lots of hormones. I am in menopause. I am at that lovely number, so your body plays tricks on you. So, this is just an answer to a prayer that I need to follow.
Well, and I think, do you agree that a lot of women, and I don't know if you have girlfriends that are in your age group or maybe a little older, but they feel like, you At that age, it is too late almost, right? Do you hear that sometimes? You are like, ah, I am too old.
It is so much harder. I don't know if it is too late, but it is so much harder. This plan seemed easy. It was very easy. Jorge Cruise right here gives you all the instructions that we need. So, the support group of the Zero Hunger Program, it just keeps me going.
Well, I am so excited because it has only been 5 days. We are back on Monday, guys. So, you know, for everyone listening to this right now on the podcast, you know, they're going to be thinking, all right, so this lady, she's, she's doing superstar work here. And I would agree with everyone thinking that, but let's, let's give them some of your secrets because as much as they're secrets, they're not really secrets. I think number one, would you say how important has been the recipe of the half a teaspoon of salt, right? In your 32 ounces of water. How has that really helped? Because we call it zero hunger water and we add a little magnesium and potassium and you've been drinking that now, how many a day? How has that worked? And does it really, like, do you use it when you feel hungry? And does it take hours? Does it take a few minutes? How quick does the hunger disappear?
I wake up, it's next to my bed. I wake up and I drink that and I may have a coffee and all day I'm sipping on it.
I love that.
And the other day I was very busy and I forgot to even drink it and I can feel the difference in my body. Like my body was like, feed me the water. Not that I was hungry, but I could tell I was a little dehydrated, so.
Yeah, well, and so many times I think people think that they're hungry when they are simply dehydrated. And what's great about the Zero Hunger Water, because it has the half a teaspoon of sodium in it. And a lot of people think that's the thing that makes you gain weight. And it's ironic, during the course this last week, didn't we, we kind of learned and talked about the misunderstanding about sodium and not just, you know, things like blood pressure and people worry about hypertension because they think they're going to have a heart attack. What were your impressions of sodium before this, this last week, would you say, Roxy? Because I know a lot of people, they think it's like the devil. It's been vilified, sodium, that you got to only sprinkle a little bit on. And there are even programs like the DASH diet that say don't even have salt. You've heard of these plans, right, Roxy?
I have. In fact, my whole family has high blood pressure and I right now, which I hope not to be in a few months, I'm on 3 different medicines.
Oh, wow.
For this. And, and I just started, it felt better and my blood pressure was going down.
Oh, wow.
And so that was really encouraging because I was Because since my parents had high blood pressure, we didn't put salt in our stuff.
No, no, of course not. I mean, I was told as a kid to be careful, la sal, careful, too much salt. You grew up in a Latin family like me, right?
Yes. And so we didn't really have salt. My mother didn't cook, you know, since the '80s with salt.
It's been basic food. And what's shocking, you know, this was the work of Dr. James D. Nicolantonio, the author of The Salt Fix. For anyone listening, we've talked about this in past podcasts.
I've interviewed him.
And his work, I think, has changed my whole life during COVID because last year I discovered his book. We did a podcast. We went deep. And I'm going to be releasing on Monday a new podcast with Dr. James that we just recorded last week. And, you know, he really changes the paradigm of what is required for optimal health. And he says, you know, that the experts got it all wrong, that sodium is so important, and it's obviously sugar. And I think you— we haven't seen each other like the way we have been now, you because I can see you right now and it's great to kind of be reconnected. And even though we haven't met in person this year, I feel like this last week we hung out the whole week, right, Roxy? Yes, on Zoom.
Very busy, very— all the support, it's great.
Yeah. And, uh, and if you remember, 11 years ago, I think we met at the W Hotel when I was doing an event, uh, for the Belly Fat Cure, right?
Yes. And I was on that and I followed that and I did lose weight, so Oh, I love that.
And so it's been 11 years since we've connected, and I'm just so happy you're back. But share with people a little bit of your story, because briefly, and then we're going to get into the details of how you not only lost 4 pounds, but how you lost— I mean, people listening are going to be wanting to say, how can I lose 10 pounds in 5 days? Yeah, we'll get into that. But tell them briefly, to put it in perspective, that, you know, it's not like you have a personal chef at your house, and it's not like you've put a padlock on your refrigerator. It's like you have a sense of radical control over sugar, carbs, salty snack foods. But you had a rough time in the last 2 years. Please tell everyone about the passing of your mom. Is that right?
I was gifted with being the caregiver to my beautiful mom.
Aw.
And, you know, as the caregiver, you rarely take care of yourself. Yeah. And so there was a moment that I was taking care of myself and I lost weight and then the Lord called her home. And that just crashed and changed my world. I was— she was my life.
Yeah.
And so I— it was really hard, you know, to be motivated to do anything. And, you know, when you lose someone like that, it's, it's difficult, and you have to rediscover who you are. And so just, just the hormones alone, you know, menopause and hot flashes, you don't want to do anything. In fact, last week— no, like 2 weeks ago, I couldn't get out of bed from headaches and hot flashes. But this week I felt amazing.
Wow.
It's just a godsend to, to learn how to take care of your body and listen to it and to value yourself enough to take care of yourself. And that's what I'm still learning.
Oh, Roxy, what you're saying, I think there's so many people can relate to what you've been— I, I was in a situation years ago where I lost my mom more than 20 years ago. It was in 1997 and she was only 64, super young. And then I lost my grandma maybe 10 years later. She was 103 though, so she made it quite a bit longer than my mom, and almost 30 more years. And then my dad just passed last year, you know, last Christmas Eve. So it's been a lot. And when we go through things like that, we— our serotonin levels go down, you know, because we're not happy. And so we crave things. And what were some of the things you probably craved that were sweet or carby, or, you know, or salty and crunchy, or what did you do?
Comfort food, just comfort food. And you know, as because in the Latin community, it is like comida. You come together and you eat. Even over this last holiday, I made tamales for the first time and, you know, everything I did. It was just, we were just celebrating, but I realized, you know, my body, everything hurts. I can't celebrate with food.
Well, it does hurt our body. Where did you get to the point where you said, hey, I am going to reconnect with Jorge Cruise and do the Zero Hunger Plan? Because how many pounds had accumulated during the last, well, since your mom's passing, probably, right?
Probably 40 pounds, I think. Wow.
Yeah.
So, you know, that is very, um, it just does a number on your psyche. It does a number on your self-esteem. And it's just my body was telling me, take this weight off. My feet hurt, my ankles hurt. What didn't hurt, right? Yeah.
Yeah.
And as we get older, especially caring for someone, you see the deterioration of their body and it's heartbreaking. And we don't want to Now that we know better, we need to do better and take care of ourselves so there is longevity and it is a good life.
Absolutely.
Amen to that.
Yeah, no, I feel like—
My dad passed away from Alzheimer's and there was nothing I could do about that, but I can really be, you know, proactive of my own health.
So, well, then let's do this. Let's get into how you did this miraculous 5 days, 10 lbs. In one of them, you lost 4 lbs. I feel like, you know, I led you down a path, kind of like a compass. About learning about this fancy word that comes from having what we call a long, you know, a 1-day zero hunger window, where in traditional terms it's like a 1-day fasting window, you know, but I don't like that word. I think of it as the F word because it turns people off when I say, let's do a 1-day fast. They're like, I'm not going to eat for a whole day. I'll pass out and die. But if we call it and substitute the word out from fasting to a zero hunger window. That is what you did. It is what I suggested on Monday night, and you did that on Tuesday. I believe that is where you lost your first 2 lbs., right? You did a 1 day, which is what we call a 23-hour window where you don't eat anything, correct?
Yes.
Then you have 1 hour.
I survived.
OK, so start with that. How did you do on that first day? Do you recall? You survived.
On the first day, I, you know, I was fine. I was fine. I was drinking more. I was more conscious of my intake and water, but I wasn't hungry. I was excited to feel better and I was hopeful. You know, this is a new plan. I am going to try it.
For sure.
You know, being in menopausal age, it is really hard to lose weight. This plan, while I am drinking the Zero Hunger water and it is satiating me. Yeah. I mean, and I am not hungry. I am not grazing. I am not looking. Even though I'm cooking dinner or whatever it is, I'm, I'm good. And it's nice to say that, to be in control of your hunger.
So it has given you the control. I always say it gives you radical control. But for that, did you feel literally like you could say, like, you were in charge, not the food, right?
Yeah. And, and I think, um, so because a lot of times, you know, you get anxious or you want to eat something or something to, to And I don't feel that way anymore. I feel like this is, this is the Zero Hunger Water is calming me down and it's drink, it's, it's making me hydrated. So I feel better. My skin's better. I feel better all over. And then I wanted to try it for 2 days. You know, I was going to try it for 2 days and I wasn't even hungry. So I continued one more day and that opened a window today where I can eat. And even eating was like overwhelming. Like, that's a lot of food, right? I don't think my appetite's that big, but I'm gonna enjoy it with— yeah, you know, with my husband. I'm gonna enjoy it, and we're gonna enjoy it, and then I'm good. I'm good till tomorrow.
I love that. So let me, let me take a little bit of what you just said to make sure I understood it. But is there going to be some people saying, did she say she wasn't hungry for 2 days and then she went 3 days? And that's what you did, right?
Yeah. And And you're amazed. You're like, wow, I wasn't— because even usually every January I try to jumpstart my, my, my eating plan, and I do the Daniel Fast, which is all this vegetables. And I was doing that earlier, and I just felt bloated. A lot of those vegetables weren't doing good for my body.
Well, do you remember in class what we talked about? These vegetables, a lot of these plants, uh, even things like kale and spinach, which are superfoods that Beyoncé loves, right? You know, you think everyone is super smart when they're that successful. But what did you learn from the class over the, over the week, right, about how certain plants have a toxicity spectrum, right?
Yes, the toxicity. And I experienced a lot of the inflammation, and, and it didn't serve me well. So if it doesn't serve me well, I'm not going to eat it. And so I was willing to try, you know, eating the meat.
Yes, and that's what you did, right? Because we have a couple meal options. I mean, obviously you can do a meat lover's plan, which I think is what you're doing. It's what I do.
To do.
It's the most satiating. But for those that like carbs, we do have carb lovers, and we do a spin of like pasta and pizzas and burgers with gluten-free versions. And usually we try to use like squash to make spaghetti and, and coconut flour to do pizzas and all that. So we try to lower the inflammation with less toxic carbs. So we have that for anyone that's listening. We also have Mediterranean, like seafood, and salmon is, is pretty good, and chicken, like a Greek chicken recipe. We have a lot of different recipes, but I feel like you're on because if I am hearing you right, basically what you did each day was just you listened to your body and you weren't hungry, right, Roxie?
I wasn't hungry.
Then before you knew it, when did you finally end your eating window? After how many days?
3 days.
OK. So, after 3 days and then is that the window or that time window where you lost the 4 lbs. in the 1 day?
Yeah. It was the 2nd day, actually. It was the 2nd day morning.
Wow.
I think I drink more water.
Yeah, 2 lbs. on day 1, 4 lbs. on day 2, and then now you have lost another, is it another 2, right?
Another 2. So, I am really motivated to continue with this and as a lifestyle. I am still educating myself as we all want to know what is working, right?
Yeah.
Yeah. So, I am following.
I love it. I am so proud of you. Then, you weighed in on today's scale Saturday. And were you down another 2 pounds? Is that correct?
Yeah, so I was down 10. Yeah, all together. Whoa. I mean, I'm excited that, that definitely— because sometimes you try really hard on other diet plans and it— you don't see the results as fast.
Well, I know people that have— that I've worked with that have done Weight Watchers or DASH or this or that or whatever, they're happy to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week and, and they're motivated, I guess. And then there's some people that are okay if they just do 1 or 2 pounds a month, but I don't call that motivation, do you, Roxanne?
No, this is a lot of motivation. I mean, I am skipping meals and I am not hungry. So, it is very motivating to see that scale going down.
Amen.
Yeah.
We always want, you know, to fulfill that, to be thin, to be healthy more. Like, the benefits are in your body, not even in the mirror. It is mostly in your body. It is telling you you're healthy.
That's rewarding. Oh, 100%.
Let's—
let me talk to everyone that's listening about the benefits of this, because, you know, Roxie, we talked in the class last week about autophagy. And autophagy is the mechanism that allows your body to do housekeeping, but it only activates when you do a longer window. You know, you have to do a zero-hunger window that's at least 23 hours, and then it just starts to activate. But when you go to that day 2 or day 3 like you did, Roxie, that's why you got such incredible results where you lost 4 pounds in a day and things like that.
Were happening.
And then best of all, as you extend it to 3 days, you also improve your immune function, which is huge. You do stem cell improvement, which keeps us like babies, young, right, Roxie? And why don't we— I mean, I say let's keep our libidos and let's keep our skin. Let's keep our hair looking young. Let's keep everything young, right, Roxie?
And it takes away brain fog, all those things.
And you experience that as well, right?
Yes.
Less brain fog.
Yeah. Lots of energy. For some reason, you get lots of energy.
Well, the dress-up for me for a minute, because I think that is one of the greatest— I don't want to say myths, but when I visualize, if you were to type in fasting on Google, right, pictures of Gandhi come up. Remember, he did all that, uh, you know, he kind of starved himself for political reasons, and he always ended up being like very gaunt, and he looked like there were bones popping out of his arms and all that. But, you know, you know, it looks like they don't move too. They're like skeletal. They're literally like dead, you know. But were you active and alive? Please tell, share with us how you felt during this 5-day, um, zero hunger experience so far. Yeah.
Well, well, my experience with fasting too, before the intermittent fasting, I do spiritual fasting and I always would feel like, oh, help. Cause I didn't have the magic answer of the Zero Hunger Water.
I gotcha.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. So this makes a difference and you feel supported by your own body because it's not telling you eat, eat. This water is amazing. Zero Hunger Water. The half a teaspoon of salt and 32 ounces, a pinch of magnesium and potassium. It makes a difference. I've never felt this much energy because even for Christmas, my husband's bought me an exercise bike and I'm all excited. And then I'm thinking, but I'm doing this, I'm not going to have energy. Well, no, I do have energy. Good.
And you know, the best time to work out is in a fasted state because you burn more stored belly fat. And now I can. Yeah. And you have been. Yes.
Yeah. Yeah. I haven't even exercised yet. I was waiting for my bike. It's coming Monday.
Well, now get ready because I mean, next week you may lose, I don't know, 3 pounds a day. I don't know what you're going to do. Well, we'll check in next week. But let's do this as we wrap up for anyone out there. I don't care any age, whether in their 20s or 50s or 70s, or maybe even older. And age is just a number, guys. So, you know, I'm joking there because it really is a number. You know, I want to redefine 50 March 2nd. I was 56 when I turned 50, and you're redefining, you're redefining 53 and menopause for women everywhere.
That's right.
You're a walking endorsement that life can get better as we get smarter, right, Roxie?
That's right. The knowledge is power. We use this knowledge and try it.
I love it.
End with this. What is your best tip for someone right now who's like, I don't want to do this? Yeah, I can go to the website, zerohungerplan.com, and I'll sign up. But I don't think it's going to work for me. This is, you know, I'm too old. I think when we did an Instagram Live this morning, there was some woman that was 52 and like 200 and I forget the weight. She was 275 and she's like, well, this worked for me. So pretend we're talking to that woman on Instagram Live right now and she's listening or anyone's listening that's, you know, that's, they've given up hope maybe. What would you say to someone who's given up hope and thinks they're too, too gone? You know what I mean? You know what I mean?
Well, today I was talking to my sister-in-law and she was saying that she has gout or she's not feeling well. And I said, you know what? You're worth it. You need to take care of yourself. You need to redefine what it looks like to be healthy and to lose that weight. And because she would say, I don't like to, you know, prepare anything for myself. If someone was here and I said, well, that's a cop-out. You need You need to take care of yourself, and this is the time because, you know, we, we don't know what tomorrow holds, but today we got to live, live right and take care of ourselves. You know, the Bible says that, you know, this is our temple. This is where God lives. This is where we live, and we need to honor it. And how do we honor that is to live a healthy life, to be an example that you can be full of life and then you can teach someone else what it is to do. And that is what I am here to do. And that is, that is his whole life. Jorge Cruise is here to teach us. He just learned this and he is spreading it. So, get on the Zero Hunger Plan and join us and you, too, can lose 10 lbs. in a week.
Yeah, no, you have done such a great job. And, you know, I think, Roxy, you are an example, a role model, really, the possibilities of just having faith faith, the power of faith. And obviously, you know, you've paired up with me in the past. I can't believe it's been 11 years since we connected in person like this. But as much as I hope to see you in person, real in person soon with COVID and all that, but at least we see each other every week and through Zoom and all that. And yeah, and if anyone wants to join us, you guys can go sign up for our next challenge. It will start in February. This window, this one is closed though. Our class is underway. We're not letting new folks in right now. But we'll have another one in February. And just go to zerohungerplan.com.
