10 Mar 2021 · 14 min
Jorge Cruise explains how chocolate fits into his Zero Hunger fasting plan. Cacao reduces stress and inflammation, but mainstream chocolate like M&M's has too much sugar. He recommends Julian Bakery's Paleo Think Dark Chocolate bar, which he eats during his fasting windows.

Hi, my name is Jorge Cruise, and I'm known as the number one weight loss strategist to the world's busiest celebrities. I'm also a multiple New York Times bestselling diet author with over 30 books and 12 million fans. You may have seen my work with Oprah Winfrey, Khloe Kardashian, Tyra Banks, Kelly Clarkson, or even Dr. Oz. My career started in my early 20s because I was a addicted to sugar, carbs, and salty snacks, and experts told me to simply count calories to get control. They were wrong. My passion to get radical control over hunger has led me to find a study-proven way that creates Zero Hunger and helps my clients drop 2 pounds each day. And I know I can help you too. Welcome to the Zero Hunger Revolution. Well, happy Tuesday night. It is March 9th. I'm Jorge, and welcome to the Jorge Cruise Show. I'm super excited for tonight's show, guys. We're gonna talk about chocolate, my favorite indulgence, and how you can enjoy it on the Zero Hunger Plan, and how you can enjoy it and actually get benefits like stress reduction, memory improvement, and reduce inflammation, because cacao, which is the component in chocolate, is an ancient superfood from the Aztecs originally, and it is a powerful tool, and it's something you can do, and it's been proven. There's studies that this actually helps reduce stress, so I'm all about it. Tonight we're dedicating the show to chocolate. I'm going to tell you which ones not to eat and which ones to eat and how I incorporate this into my diet, because it's not that hard. It really isn't. You can enjoy the Zero Hunger Plan, and when it's time for you to eat, whether you're doing, uh, You know, 23-hour fast or 16-hour fast or even a 3-day one, chocolate can be worked into your eating window so you can enjoy it once you're done fasting. So let's do that in just a minute, guys. First, I wanna give thanks to our sponsors before we start the show, guys. I wanna give a big thank you to Elemental Labs. It's the perfect mix of these minerals. And then we teach you how to add things like a monk fruit or stevia to give it sweetness without the sugar, sweet without the sugar, and nothing artificial. But why I love Elemental Labs is because all that, as much as it's easy, you don't have to do. Imagine just buying it and having it come to your door. It's so, so good. They also have bread, they have brownies, they have literally everything you can think of. So, and it's made healthy with either zero or almost no sugar. There's a chance it may open a week earlier, but right now the date is April 11th. And you're going to love the Zero Hunger plan, guys. And I hope you will join me on April 11th for the kickoff of the new the new season. It's going to be amazing. We're going to have the best time. It's going to be delicious. There are live meetings that I lead. It's a community of supportive people. You're going to absolutely love it. All right, guys. So with that said, let's get to the chocolate. It's time to have some yum yum here. Now, chocolate, you guys know a little bit of the background. If you don't, basically it's a superfood and it's ancient. The Mayans and the Aztecs believed that chocolate, cacao, was a gift from the gods. And the Aztecs in particular revered it so much that they used cacao in special drinks and gave it to their victorious warriors after battles. And, uh, and they would use it during religious ceremonies. It was like a secret, uh, currency almost of life, literally of life. And it was, they, they thought, more valuable than gold. So the good thing is that it still is. Now today's chocolate is very different than what happened with these ancient societies. Um, you know, the top-selling chocolate in the U.S. is M&M's. Now, M&M's number one ingredient is not cacao, it's sugar. And guess how many grams of sugar are in the king-size bag, which basically is— let me think here— 20— no, it's, uh, 3.4 ounces, 3.14 ounces. So that's 60 carbs and 54 grams of sugar. That is a huge amount of sugar. 60 grams of carbs and 54 grams of sugar. That is not good. That is how you break a fast. That's how you also put yourself in inflammation. It's sugar that causes all these diseases and we have to be cautious of it. So does that mean we can't eat chocolate because, you know, M&Ms are not good for us? No, there are alternatives out there. And I will say this, not all are the same. So for me, I'm biased obviously, and I'm being honest about it. I love Julian Bakery and the reason they're a sponsor of this show is because I know the owner. He created this chocolate bar. It's called the Paleo Think Dark Chocolate. Now, I love Heath because he's like Mr. Willy Wonka. He literally is, um, the fittest, uh, and handsome. He's got a beautiful family, wife and kids and all that, but he's literally in top shape. And this guy does not look like Willy Wonka. He looks like a CrossFit athlete. He's in phenomenal shape, six-pack and everything, and he eats chocolate. He eats it all the time. It's because he's recreated it. It's different. So listen to this. It's made with organic cacao nibs, which is amazing. It has prebiotic fiber. It has organic cacao butter, organic vanilla powder, organic coconut milk powder, and organic monk fruit extract, which gives it the sweetness without the sugar. The entire bar. And I gave these out at my birthday party last Saturday. Only 99 calories, zero added sugar, 2 grams of protein, which is good, and, uh, and 9 carbs total, which is fine during your eating window. I usually have this, um, as my way to celebrate once I finish a 3-day window, uh, zero hunger window, which is usually Wednesday night. So I'll have it tomorrow night, and I have it on the weekends, and even my kids have it. This is kids-friendly. So check it out, guys. Julian Bakery makes the best option, guys. It has zero sugar. It's that good. No sugar. It's sweetened with monk fruit, and, uh, it's the perfect way to, uh, kind of make your, uh, your eating window super exciting. The Aztecs would be proud of us. Uh, and if you check out the show notes, guys, I'm going to include some science on stress reduction, memory improvement, and inflammation reduction, because that is so critical because the number one thing that is, you know, that I have, you know, issues with, with M&M's and things like that is the sugar in there. That, because that causes inflammation, it causes stress on the body, it causes loss of memory, it causes viruses to be fed, whether it's a cold, a flu, COVID, cancer. You want to avoid sugar, guys. You guys know how much sugar is the villain, you know. And as much as people think it's salt, it's never salts. You guys know that. We're going to talk about that next Tuesday when we do the next, uh, show on eating fit. This Thursday we're going to talk about thinking fit. And this weekend, I'm so excited because we're going to be having on Sunday Dr. James Cruise joining us from The Salt Fix. He's written a new book called The Mineral Fix. It's going to be amazing. I can't wait for that, guys. So if you have any questions about chocolate or anything we covered tonight, please just shoot me a quick email at Jorge, J-O-R-G-E, @JorgeCruiseShow.com.
