Hey everyone, it is Jorge Cruise. Welcome. It's October the 20th, it's Thursday. Our podcast comes out every Thursday, so welcome to our second episode of season 4. If you're following along with all our podcasts, this is episode 161. Welcome guys, I'm Jorge, I'm the host of the show, and basically for the last 22 years I've been a diet author, for the last 30 years a fitness trainer, and at age 51 I'm here to share with you I think the best shortcuts that I have found that are going to get you simply fit. Simply fit, meaning that you're going to find the shortest path to getting to the best optimal health ever. That's what this podcast is here to do. As much as I loved writing over 30 books, and 12 of them were on the New York Times, that is no longer the thing that I really make a focus. I hate to say it, but podcasting has replaced books, and you guys know what I mean. We don't have time to read, but we have time to listen. So if you're listening to me or watching me on YouTube or Spotify, welcome guys. I'll be here every Thursday for you. And what I want to talk about in today's episode is following up on something we talked about last Thursday. And that is this idea of the two steps, the two components of really my method. And over the last 30 years as a trainer, I've come up with a two-step method that I think makes fitness simple. First key, critical key, please listen to me on this. You cannot out-train a poor diet. And so I call that eating fit. Now, I thought 22 years ago when I was still just a trainer and before I wrote my first book that you really could out-train a poor diet. I wrote a book called 8 Minutes in the Morning, great book, still great to this day. Came out in 2001, became a number one New York Times bestselling diet book or a fitness book, I should say. And I love that book. And millions of you guys did too. Came out in 16 languages. I think there were 4 million copies sold initially and it went on and on. Love that book to this day, right? I love seeing how it looked 21 years ago and all that. But here's what I'll tell you. What I have learned since then is that truly you can make the greatest shift in your health, not at the gym, not in 8 minutes. It's not even an hour. It's understanding that you cannot out-train a poor diet and that fitness begins in the kitchen. That is the punchline. I'm gonna say it again. Fitness begins in the kitchen. That is step 1 to my method.
All right.
You gotta understand that. And this is something that for me, it's been a lifetime of learning. And as much as I love exercise and it's good for mental health and it's good to bring out an energy in us, almost like a dopamine high. We're going to talk about that in step 2, but step 1 is diet, nutrition. It's about what we eat, and it's also about intermittent fasting and something known as ketosis or a ketogenic diet. And the combination of a time-restricted eating window known as intermittent fasting combined with a ketogenic diet, which is high protein, high fat, low carbohydrate, is the key to it all. Now, the greatest thing I'm going to share with you this season, guys, is about Zero Hunger Water, because that's something you drink during your fasting window to turn off hunger. And if you can do that, you can fast for up to 20 hours. Some of my clients go 23 hours and they give themselves an hour to eat. I take 4 hours to eat so I can have my dinner and then I can have some treats afterwards. I, I do, I do have a sweet tooth. I always did, still do. But the Zero Hunger Water quells that hunger and the cravings for sugar. It literally turns off hunger. Think of it as a hunger eraser or the hunger eraser. That's what Zero Hunger Water is. And if you haven't heard about it, make sure to go to zerohungerwater.com to learn more. Sign up for our email list. It's coming out at the end of this year nationwide, available direct to you in ready-to-drink cans. It's gonna be awesome. They're 16-ounce tall boys. You drink one of those, you are set for 2 to 3 hours. You keep drinking them throughout the day until you're ready to eat. So we're gonna be talking about water, Zero Hunger Water. We're gonna be talking about what to eat. We're gonna be talking how to take care of your nutrition and how to customize it based on what you want in your life. A lot of you may want more plant-based nutrition. Some of you will want more protein-based nutrition. We're gonna talk about all those topics, not just with myself, but with some of the leading experts in this field. And I'm thrilled to announce all that soon. Then on the other side of eating fit is something that I'm thrilled to share with you for the first time ever. I call it Soul Fit, and that is my spiritual practice to create an energy within me that is not religious in any way at all, but it's an energy that I believe is the reason we get focused and directed and at times are able to do incredible things. Now, if you're in a stage of your life where you lack that passion, you lack that spark, you're going to love SoulFit because what SoulFit is going to do, it's going to give our inner energy the ability through different types of modalities. And a lot of people think it's just prayer, but I'll have— prayer is great, but so are affirmations. Connections, and they don't have to be spiritual and they don't have to be to God or whoever your higher power is. They can be to a certain type of remembrance, an energy within you that may be already there. And I think the key to it is understanding that by doing this, you're going to create a practice that gives you this passion, this energy within you that is incredible. And that's the thing that will get you through hard times. Now, you're also going to discover that movement can create this kind of energy within us, this soul fit. When your endorphins and dopamine levels go high and serotonin go high, you literally are high in the sense of a positive vibration in your inside, which gives you direction. It gives you power. It gives you unlimited power. And we're going to talk about how to tap into that and how to make that grow each and every day. So the issues that we may have in front of us, where it's, do I eat the bread? Do I eat the cake? Do I eat this? Do I eat that? Or do I wait? Becomes something so effortless. That you can do at any time. So that's what we're going to talk about on this show. I talked about it briefly last week. Please check out last episode. But I will say this, on today's show, what I want to do is ask you a call to action to share with me your top Eat Fit question. If you can do that, I'm going to go through them all this week. Next week we have a show more about— well, I call it Soul Fit, but it's going to be with a guest, a really great man. His name is Zach Williams. He's now dedicated his life entirely to mental health, and Zach is going to share with us his mental hygiene aging kit on how to really create a sense of calm and serenity in our lives, even though we may be going through trauma or tough times. Now, this is the man whose father was the well-known film actor Robin Williams and did over 88 films and took his life, unfortunately, about 8 years ago. And his son Zach will be telling that story, sharing with how he got through that and what has given him a sense of of meaning. And the meaning for him has become really making mental health a big deal. And he is a big deal. And so I'm thrilled to have him as our first big celebrity on the show next week. It'll be great, guys. So with that said, let me give you my email. It's just Jorge, J-O-R-G-E, @jorgecruise.com. Shoot me an email there, put in the subject, podcast question, and put in your question and give me a way to get ahold of you if I, in case I wanna call you or email you, I'll have your email email, obviously, but include a phone number so I can reach out to you and a time of day that may be useful, and then you may actually be on the show with me. So that is today's show, guys. It's short and simple. I'm just thrilled to have you guys here with me and to be back every Thursday with you. Next week, get ready for Robin Williams's son, Zach. Zach is going to move our spirits and souls to really understand how certain gifts, the heaviest and hardest ones of all, can be the most transformative and the most meaningful. So all that next week here on the Jorge Cruise Podcast, guys. Peace and purpose. I'll see you soon. Take good care.
