#43 - THINK FIT: I NEED TO COMMUNICATE MY NEEDS WITH CALM CONFIDENCE AND GRACE.
27 May 2020 · 11 min
In this 8‑minute solo podcast episode, Jorge Cruise (the “8‑Minute Life Strategist”) opens by warning that 91% of people carry dangerous belly fat, which lowers immunity and raises the risk of diabetes, stroke, cancer, and respiratory problems. He links excess belly fat to the need for intermittent fasting and other performance‑boosting habits, drawing on his 25‑year experience working with high‑profile clients. The core of the episode is a simple affirmation: “I need to communicate my needs with calm confidence and grace.” Cruise explains why many people struggle to assert their health‑related boundaries with family, friends, and coworkers, citing social pressure and pandemic‑era habits. He offers practical tips for calmly stating new routines (eating windows, sleep times), using concise language, and handling resistance by editing relationships if needed. Listeners are guided through repeating the affirmation three times, ideally in front of a mirror, to reinforce confident communication. The episode closes with a call to action to share the message, rate the podcast, and sign up for the free weekly Jorge Cruise Report, which delivers short “Move Fit, Think Fit, Eat Fit” shortcuts.

Well, we made it to Wednesday, guys. Uh, it's a beautiful day here in San Diego. Hopefully you're gonna have a great day as well. Uh, I'm excited for for today's Think Fit, because today we're going to really talk about things that sometimes can be difficult. Because in life, and I've worked with so many clients where they have loved ones, family, friends that you would think would have their complete support if they're trying to change their life, trying to get that peak performance down, whether it's lose belly fat, improve the energy, work better, reduce pain in your life, whatever you need for peak performance, you would think those people around you would support you fully, right? They'd be like, absolutely. Unfortunately, it doesn't play out that way. And I don't think it's intentional. I honestly think it's, um, it's just human nature. We tend to want to be social creatures. Even during COVID-19, we're connecting through social media. We're connecting through Zoom meetings. We're connected. And there's that pressure, that peer pressure family pressure, work pressure to stay up late, eat more than you should, break your fast a lot earlier than you normally would. You know, I go through that sometimes when I see my sons on the weekends, you know, and it's tough because I want to have 11:00 AM big brunch with them and then I want to eat again later. And sometimes I just do one meal a day. You guys know about my passion for intermittent fasting and I usually do one meal a day, but sometimes I get pushed in that direction. So today's Think Fit is going to give you the edge when it comes to communicating your needs to others, whether it be family, friends, coworkers, et cetera. And it says the following, it's super simple. And I think you can use this in many places. And it's all internal because it's about you knowing that you don't have to have a big fight with someone. That it doesn't have to be this dramatic soap opera, right? It can be simple. And it's about having finesse and elegance when you communicate. And it comes from being authentic. In my opinion, you just have to tell people, hey, I'm on this plan and I need your support. Simple, right? So this is the thought. This is the think fit that you need though on the inside, internally. All right, I'm going to say it 3 times and then we're going to say it together 3 times. So this is it. I need to communicate my needs with calm confidence and grace. I need to communicate my needs with calm confidence and grace. I need to communicate my needs with calm confidence and grace. And yes, these are your needs. You know, if you've given yourself an eating window where you're eating in 8 hours or 4 hours and whatever that window is, you need to respect that for yourself and you need to share that with loved ones, you know. If you've got a bedtime that's now 9 o'clock PM and you're waking up early with me, uh, you need to communicate that to loved ones, to yourself sometimes, but you need to do it calmly because fighting doesn't work, you know. Confidence works. Calm confidence and grace. So let's say it together now, because if you can embrace this today, I feel like you're going to be a very powerful person. But with elegance. And that is the best kind of person to be, because that way people will never think you're that kind of person. You're just someone who knows what they want and shares that. That's just good communication. So let's do this together, guys, 3 times. I want you to face a mirror if you can, somewhere in your house. You guys know how much I think mirrors help affirmations. Take a deep breath in with me, and let's say the following together: I need to communicate my needs with calm confidence and grace. Again, I need to communicate my needs with calm confidence and grace. One more time, I need to communicate my needs with calm confidence and grace. Good job. Now, my suggestion, listen to this all day. Repeat this more if you need it, because I know some of us communicate our needs, but it's not calmly and there's no grace. Or we do the opposite. We don't communicate our needs. We just go with what everyone else tells us to do. And maybe it's calmly, maybe it's not graceful, but but it's just passive. And you need to be able to assert what you need as a human. And if you have a new routine, remember routines equal rituals. You need to communicate that, but do it calmly with confidence and grace. And it doesn't have to be a 3-hour story on why. Simple story would be that, hey, you have a new lifestyle, you're improving your health, you want peak performance in your life. And right now you're not there yet, or maybe you are, but you need to maintain it. And that this is important to you. That's all you have to say. And by saying that, people are gonna, I hope, and you will know this by seeing their eyes, will respect that. And my one piece of advice, if you have someone in your life that after communicating this tends to disrespect this or tends to ignore it, after communicating it with grace though and confidence, you have to communicate it that way. Then it's time to edit your life. We've talked about that on the show, and you can edit your life. You can talk to people less often, but give them a chance to show you that they can understand what you're going through. So enjoy today's Think Fit. You can do this. Please share it with your loved ones. Share it with 3 people. If you're listening to this on Apple, please give us 5 stars. I appreciate that, guys. On Spotify as well. We're new to Spotify. And let's make today a masterpiece. All right, guys, you deserve it. Have a great day. Peace and purpose.
