Happy Monday morning. It is June 22nd. How was your weekend? For all the dads out there, happy belated Father's Day. I had a great time with my sons, and hopefully you're having a great start to your week. Summer's here. It's official, right guys? Welcome. Hopefully you had a great kickoff to summer. Regardless, it was warm in San Diego, and I'm excited to start this week with you right now because we're going to talk today about a move-fit strategy which I use every morning. I'm about to do it live with my clients, interval training. But we're going to look at it from a different perspective, a perspective of not just burning belly fat, because yeah, we need to do that. That is, that is the key to why this show is here. It's about high performance living. It's about working better. It's about enjoying your life. It's about having that freedom to do what you want. And I've dedicated over 20 years of my life to that one mission about really helping people reduce their waist circumference. So don't get me wrong, we got to burn that belly fat, and interval training is, in my opinion, the way to do that. You know, I've been doing these micro workouts, 8-minute workouts, for 20 years. Next year is my 20-year anniversary, uh, for the book 8 Minutes in the Morning. It's been modified, it's been updated, uh, because originally it didn't have intervals. But believe me, working out in the morning is important for this one reason. But there is a second reason, and that's what today's show is about. We're going to talk about how to avoid depression anxiety, stress in the morning, if you wake up with a panic attack and you are scared and not feeling your best, angry even, uh, or just down, you know, I mean, COVID-19 has really struck the whole world in that direction. I'm going to tell you right now, interval training could be the best thing out there. So we're going to talk about that today. We're going to talk about why 8 minutes of exercise in the morning could really be the thing that not just causes you to be fit, but to cause you to be mentally alive again and happy. Because that's what life's about. And if you're not feeling happy, guys, you're gonna love today's show because we're gonna get happy. And the show is brought to you by my website, JorgeCruise.com. We sponsored the show mainly because right now we are doing a 2020 survey. I do this annually, and it's a big deal because because I need to hear from you on why and what drives you to want to get fit and be healthy. And I listen, and I've been doing this for 20+ years. So we do it once a year, and if you do this, uh, in exchange as my thank you, I'm sending you the first week in July, so right around the corner, an online course on how to cure belly fat. It's basically a course that you're going to love that in a very easy amount of time, I'm hoping less than 2-hour window, you're gonna learn how interval training, 8 minutes of it, can burn your belly fat and do it better than anything else out there. No pills required, no gyms, no equipment, nothing. And so as my thank you, that'll be your gift. But just head on over to my website, JorgeCruise.com. It's J-O-R-G-E-C-R-U-I-S-E.com. And while you're over there, join my new texting family, text community. As you may know, a lot of people don't open emails anymore, and I have a really great community texting number now that you can text me. I'm gonna give it to you right now, actually. It's area code 424. I mean this, text me right now, 424-228-9548. I'll say it one last time, 424-228-9548. Text me, but go to the website, fill out the survey, and sign up for my community, because you'll love it. It's how I'm gonna stay in touch with everyone in my, in my Jorge Cruise family. And you guys are a part of that, I hope, since you listen to the podcast. We're also brought to you by, uh, Navitas Organics. You guys know Navitas is how I cheat my fast with chia seeds. Uh, they're giving all of us 30% off your order of any organic, uh, superfoods. And they have them all, from wheatgrass to maca to chia. Uh, the code is CRUISE, C-R-U-I-S-E. It's Navitas organics.com/cruise to get 30% off. And we're also brought to you by Primal Kitchen. Primal Kitchen is the leader in avocado oil, in my opinion the best oil on the planet. It's replaced everything from flaxseed to olive oil in my kitchen. It's what I tell all my celebrity clients to utilize for age prevention. It's anti-inflammatory, it works at high heat. I use it in my flat belly meals. Listen to past shows for the recipe. It's super simple, uses chia as well. But if you order something at primalkitchen.com jorgecruise.com/jorgecruise, you will get a free lemon mayo, chipotle mayo. It's made with avocado. It's delicious. I put a dollop of it on my tacos. I have it almost every day. It's super delicious. So with that said, let's get started. It's Monday, um, and let's really talk about why moving in the morning, not at night, not midday, but upon rising, you literally roll out of bed and get moving. So let's talk about this and how it can help you overcome depression. It's a fact, 91% of us have a dangerous amount of belly fat, and it isn't just unsightly. When you have too much belly fat, you're more likely to suffer from aches and pains, low energy, memory loss, and poor sleep, which prevents you from performing your best at work, spending true quality time with your loved ones, and simply enjoying life. The good news is that you can cure belly fat and immediately start to work better, reduce pain, improve memory, and sleep better using simple shortcuts I've gathered. Hi, my name is Jorge Cruise, and I'm known as the 8-Minute Life Strategist to the world's busiest celebrities. I've been a fitness, nutrition, and high-performance living strategist for over 25 years, and you may have seen my work with Oprah Winfrey, Khloe Kardashian, President Clinton, Tyra Banks, Dr. Oz, Tony Robbins, or even Steve Harvey. My passion to find the best science-backed fitness shortcuts has allowed me to write over 30 books and become a multiple New York Times bestselling author with over 9 million books in print. And I know I can help you too. Welcome to the Jorge Cruise Show. So normally, uh, you know Jorge Cruise, me, I'm super positive and I always like to see the glass half full. You know, if you got a choice in life to be happy or not to be happy, you choose the happy one. But in life, you don't get to always control that. As much as your mindset does control how good you feel, there are going to be times where, for whatever reason, you'll get into like some emotional spiral where you just may feel down. You know, whether you call it depression, a panic attack, anxiety, stress, you know. I learned years ago that stress is just a code word for fear, and fear is usually about loss. And anytime you experience that feeling, it's not good, you know. And so what we're going to talk about on today's show and the affirmation I have is really about embracing interval training as a cure-all, you know. I believe it's the most underutilized form of antidepressant out there— exercise, but specifically interval training. Because the way it can activate our serotonin and dopamine levels, truly scientific here, to be better than Prozac. And I'm not saying we should drug ourselves, I'm just saying if we move in the morning, outside of burning belly fat, you're going to feel better. And I'll give you an example. Just yesterday, um, it was Father's Day, right? I was going back through the timeline in my phone of some photos of me and my sons Parker and Owen, and you know, they're both teenagers, big guys now. One's my height, literally weighs my height, or weighs my weight and is my height. And I love my kids, but I look back and they were just little guys not that long ago. And I was feeling a little sad, shall we say, to think that they're no longer those little guys anymore and they're independent young men and strong. And I love that. That was my intention as a father, to raise sons with their mom to really be independent and to be capable of anything. And in life we need that. But then on the other end, as parents, and I'm sure some of you guys know what I mean, you end up feeling that nesty— what is it— empty nest syndrome, you know, which can be a little sad, you know. So whether it was that or whatever else you may trigger, may trigger us— it was for me just looking back on pictures, you know, and I was like, oh, stop being sad here. But I was. So guess what I did? I moved. I moved my body. I wrote a book a few years ago where I talked about this move to improve. But as much as I love exercise, for physical results of burning belly fat and getting that out of our lives so we live longer, work better, etc. The huge benefit outside of physical is emotional, mental health. And if you struggle with good mental health, I can tell you, for me, being someone who had a very difficult and early childhood that was very abrasive, and, you know, I struggled with mental health, my goodness. My whole life. And I think that's one of the main reasons I was an emotional eater growing up as a kid and in college, because it was a way to coat and kind of deal with the issues and kind of bury myself in food, which then eventually you bury yourself in fat, you know, belly fat. And so I've learned to not ignore these feelings but to work with them. And when I move my body with intervals If I'm feeling down, it goes away literally within minutes. So I want to challenge you this week to utilize interval training starting right now, uh, to improve how good you can feel, because the science has been without question linked to how mental health improves with exercise. And if you can do intervals, you're going to burn the belly fat as well. So today's affirmation is simple. I'm going to say it 3 times, then you'll say it 3 times. And we'll talk a little more about this. All right. So it says, I avoid depression, and in parentheses, and burn belly fat with morning intervals. I avoid depression with morning intervals. I avoid depression with morning intervals. When I say avoid depression, it doesn't mean you make it disappear. You just end up putting it in the back. It's maybe still there. You still miss your kids. You still have a feeling of loss of some sort in your mind, but your body is overloaded with serotonin and dopamine. And when that happens, you can't but feel good. So it kind of balances out— it balances it all out. And that's what we need at times like that, you know, way better than eating a bag of cookies or sugar or whatever, because that's what we tend to go to. And we're not wrong to do that because it also— eating carbohydrates raises serotonin levels. But unfortunately, it has a negative side effect. We want no side effect. We want a win-win. And exercise gives us the serotonin and dopamine that sugar and carbs do, but without the calories. And it's good for our bodies, as you know. So let's say this together. Take a deep breath in, stand tall. Hopefully in front of a mirror. And let's say the following: I avoid depression and burn belly fat with morning intervals. I avoid depression with morning intervals. I avoid depression with morning intervals. They may be saying, why morning, Jorge? Can I do this midday, nighttime, whenever I'm feeling down? Absolutely. The answer is yes. But if you can do it in the morning, the science has shown that you end up creating a safety net, a safety net of emotional support for you that guarantees you kick off your day with a win right up front. And if you can build this routine, kind of a lifestyle of morning exercise upon rising. You literally roll out of bed, maybe you pivot into the bathroom for a moment or two, if you know what I mean, take care of Mother Nature, get a glass of water out, add a pinch of Himalayan sea salt to give you that electrolytes that you need for energy without calories, and start to move. You know, I do it 7 AM live Pacific Time, 10 AM Eastern Time. I lead a group of incredible people, mainly women, but I'm recruiting men, so gentlemen, join me, but ladies as well, and we're all over 40 for the most part, and we're all committed to morning intervals. You know, we do 8 minutes in the morning. It's different than what I did 20 years ago in my book, "8 Minutes in the Morning," because of intervals, and back then I was not aware of the power of interval training to improve our health and our well-being, but we all know that high-intensity interval training, HIIT training is this method where we go 40 seconds, and I'll give you an example. You could do this walking today. You don't have to do it with me necessarily, but do it this style. It's a 40-second interval where you start slow, kind of think of a 40-second warm-up, and then you do a 40-second high where you crank it up to like a level 8 on a 0 to 10 scale. Get to that level 8 where you are power walking, maybe a slight jog, and then take it down for 40 seconds. Up for 40 seconds, down for 40 seconds. And by going high to low to high to low, and you go back and forth, you train your body to tap into belly fat. But while, while you're burning belly fat, you also bolster your serotonin and dopamine levels. And serotonin and dopamine are your body's magic happy pills. You know, they're the things that are going to make you feel happy inside. And whether it's walking, whether it's doing it on a mat like I do with my clients at home, Whatever the intervals that you're doing are, wherever you do them, it's going to have that same effect where it's going to spark inside of you this feeling good effect. And that is so important, it's essential, because if you can start your morning this way, you're going to guarantee that your morning begins great and then it kicks off into the afternoon. You could do it again in the afternoon, and then you end up setting yourself up to win throughout the whole day. And so it really is a strategy that I recommend. And if you do it in the morning, you're more likely to continue to do it long term. People that exercise at night usually fail 50% of the time. So you set yourself up to win in so many, so many ways. And of course, you burn belly fat. So that's your homework. It's simple. Make it happen today, guys. And I also want to invite you to jot this down. On July 6th, Jot that down on your calendar. That's 2 weeks from today. I'm doing a 19-day Belly Fat Cure Challenge. It's going to be a new website. It's live training with me, and I want to invite you to the VIP list, but you got to text me.
