#76 - I take good care of myself.
11 Sept 2020 · 13 min
In this episode of the Jorge Cruise Show, host Jorge Cruise introduces himself as the "8‑Minute Life Strategist" and recounts his personal journey from a directionless young adult to a celebrity fitness trainer. He reflects on September 11, 2001, describing how the tragedy highlighted the importance of physical fitness when he helped military wives prepare for their husbands’ deployments and collaborated with Diane Sawyer on a Good Morning America challenge. The core of the show is an affirmation—"I take good care of myself"—which he repeats three times and encourages listeners to internalize as a daily vow. Cruise explains his 8‑Minute Method, emphasizing the three pillars: Moves (high‑intensity interval training), Mind (positive mindset), and Meals (nutrition). He announces the soft launch of the live version of his 8‑Minute program (8MinutesLive) on September 14, limited to 100 early adopters, and promotes his Zero Hunger Water electrolyte product as a tool for hunger control during intermittent fasting. The episode concludes with a strong call‑to‑action to join his free "Fit Family" texting community (US‑only number 424‑228‑9548) for personalized coaching, free resources, and exclusive challenges. Throughout, the tone is motivational, promotional, and personal, blending storytelling with concrete product offers and actionable health advice.

Hi, my name is Jorge Cruise and I'm known as the 8 Minute Life Strategist to the world's busiest celebrities. I've been a fitness, nutrition, and peak performance trainer for over 20 years, and you may have seen my work with Oprah Winfrey, Khloe Kardashian, Tyra Banks, President Clinton, Kelly Clarkson, Dr. Oz, Tony Robbins, or even Steve Harvey. My career started because in my early 20s I had no idea what to do with my life. No control of my life, and experts told me I was tired and overweight because I didn't exercise enough and overate. They were wrong. I discovered that there are fitness shortcuts that would give you control of your life in less time. My passion to find the best science-backed fitness shortcuts has allowed me to write over 30 books and become a multiple New York Times bestselling author with over 9 million books in print. And I know I can help you get control of your life. Welcome to the Jorge Cruise Show.
Well, happy Friday. It is September 11th. This is one of the weirdest days of my life because I remember where I was 19 years ago. As so many of us remember 9/11, um, shout out to everyone in New York that lost loved ones, and my heart goes out to everyone this time of the year. I was on the East Coast. I was filming some television, and I was about to get married to my first my spouse, the mother of my kids, Heather, and I remember I wasn't able to fly back to California literally till the 15th of September, which is the day she and I got married, and, you know, but I remember what happened thereafter because I was releasing a new book, my very first one, 8 Minutes in the Morning. We've talked about that. And for me, I was excited because I was a new young author. I was in my 20s, and I wanted to change the world, and the world had changed. But for the worst. And so luckily, I was blessed to have met some people. Diane Sawyer was one of them in New York City, and she wanted to inspire Good Morning America watchers to take good health— good, take good care of their health, I should say, because one, one of the saddest things that happened at 9/11 was a lot of people had time to evacuate the Twin Towers. But if you guys remember the history, if you watch the videos and all that, a lot of people, because of the elevators being out of commission, had to take the stairs, and they didn't have the cardiovascular strength. They didn't have the physical strength to evacuate, um, you know, timely. And it was, it was something they couldn't do. They don't even— couldn't do it because it's the highest building in the world at the time, or was one of them. And, uh, and so what Dan Sawyer asked me to do was to, to be a part of a, of a challenge with military wives whose husband had just gone a couple weeks later after 9/11. They had gone to Afghanistan, and these women wanted to surprise their husbands and get in great shape and be physically ready because back then And if you're younger and you may not remember this, but back then we thought terrorists were going to be attacking our country on a regular thing. It was scary. The Pentagon was being attacked, we thought, and all these things. So we wanted to keep America strong. And so for me as a trainer, I was honored to go to Miramar, the Air Force Base where they filmed Top Gun, the movie with Tom Cruise. And I'll post a picture with an F-18 in the background and these beautiful, amazing women whose husbands went and went to Afghanistan to protect our country, and they wanted to get healthy and fit, and with Dan Sawyer and Charlie Gibson's help, if you guys remember Good Morning America way back in the day, 19 years ago, we changed millions of people's lives, and I was so blessed to be a part of that. It was really powerful. So shout out to everyone on 9/11, and let's stay strong. In honor of them, today's show is about taking good care of ourselves. I have an affirmation that I really think is what can give us this think fit, this edge in here, because as much as I believe that exercise is the first key to transforming health. I tell people, and I've shared this with you, I hope you remember this, but this 8-minute method that I've been doing now for 20 years starts with the 8-minute moves, and we've talked about that, and we're launching that on Monday, and I'll talk about that in a minute here, but the second part is the mind. Moves, mind, and meals, those are the 3 keys, I think, you know, to transforming your health, but it starts with movement, but the mind is everything. It keeps the momentum going, it keeps us disciplined, it keeps us focused on the diet, you know, without that mindset, and, And, you know, and I really do feel like with today's world, we need a positive mindset. So let's do that today, guys. Can't wait to get started in a minute. The show is brought to you by 8 Minutes Live. That's my website. That's where I train clients. Literally have revised what I did 20 years ago with Diane Sawyer, what I did with these military wives. Now it's all about high-intensity interval training. And I'm so excited because this Monday, September 14th, we'll be launching the live version. It's a soft launch. I'm opening up to 100 people only. We can only take up to 1,000 max, but I'm doing 100 soft launch. Would love to invite you personally to check it out. If you want more information, just go to the number8minuteslive.com and you can find out more. We're also brought to you by Zero Hunger Water, which is my passion. It's, I believe, my legacy work. It's really what I use to turn off hunger when I'm hungry. I created it for celebrities, because a lot of times when I introduce intermittent fasting to people like Steve Harvey or any celebrity I work with like Brooke Burke in Malibu, The biggest concern I get is, how do I turn off my hunger? And electrolytes, magnesium, potassium, the right ratios in water, are— it's like magic. You drink this and you're not hungry. And that's how I eat one meal a day without, without feeling deprived. And it's not about hunger in the sense of cravings, but it's hunger just to satiate that. And a lot of times it's just because we're dehydrated. So if you're interested in turning off that hunger and having zero hunger so you can fast longer and get control of your life in that regard, uh, check out Z-E-R-O, zero, hungerwater.com. With that said, guys, let's get started with today's show. Like I said, it's really about thinking fit, especially on 9/11, because I feel like the thing that stops us from following through and taking good care of ourselves is us. It's this, it's our brain, it's this mindset, and we gotta flip the switch and make the mindset powerful and make the mindset something that will empower us to, to kind of fan a fire. You know, I think The Exercise Method, the 8 Minute Moves, will give you the edge right away because it'll jumpstart your serotonin, your dopamine. It activates your metabolism, it turns on all that energy. But to keep it going all throughout the day, you gotta have this focused. So let me share with you the affirmation, then we'll do it 3 times together, and then I will help you take a vow. I hope today that allow you to make yourself a priority in your life. I learned this from Oprah years ago, that the delicate balance between being selfish and self— selfless. And whether you think you should be selfless, I'm here to tell you today you've got to be selfish. That in order to help others, you have to help yourself. And if you're not a priority in your mind, in your actions, in your life, You're never going to be there for your others. It's, it's kind of like the crazy metaphor we always hear about the airplane, especially being a parent myself. When my kids were smaller, we'd fly to wherever, whether we're going to on a holiday or to New York or whatever, and they always would say to put on your oxygen mask first before your kids. Why? Because you can't help others unless you take care of yourself. So that's what today's affirmation is all about. Today's show is all about, and let me read it to you. It's really simple. It says the following. Here are the words: I take good care of myself. Let's say it 3 times together now and challenge you to do it, uh, in front of a mirror if you can. All right, say these words with me: I take good care of myself. Again: I take See yourself taking action. I take good care. What is that for you? Is it improving your diet? Is it going to bed earlier? Is it going on for— going out for a walk? Is it not saying abusive things to yourself? I take good care of myself. One last time. I take good care of myself. Now, for all of us, it'll be different. For you, maybe sleep. It may be changing your diet so you're not eating Oreos and not eating crap food— pardon my French— processed foods, and eating a cleaner diet. Maybe it's taking the vow to join me on Monday and signing up for 8minuteslive.com. This will have a component for nutrition, the mind, and exercise. It's holistic, it's comprehensive. Maybe it's getting a coach, because I could be that coach for you. Happy to do that. But if it isn't that, it could be as simple as drinking more water with electrolytes. Adding a pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt to your water is a simple way to get the basic electrolytes in there that will help tremendously. It could be going to bed at 10 or earlier every night. It's making that vow that you need that sleep, you know. It may be waking up 10 or 20 when it's earlier in the morning so you can go on a walk. What is it for you? Think of how you're gonna take good care of yourself and think of that metaphor knowing that if you don't make yourself this priority, you're not gonna be there for your loved ones, your family, your friends. You're just not. It's that metaphor come to life. And hopefully this is your wake-up call to make yourself a priority, to become selfish. Yes, you have permission from Jorge Cruise and Oprah to be selfish today, because in order to do what you're here to do on this planet, whether it's to work better or play better or be there for others, you can't do it if you're broken. And as much as I can be a coach and you can buy programs and you can buy products, you can do all this. And unless you utilize them and take action on it every day, it's not going to happen. So take the vow right now to make yourself a priority and have a beautiful weekend, guys. I'll be back on Monday. Please share today's message with at least 3 loved ones. All right, peace and purpose. I'll see you Monday. Take good care. Hey, it's Jorge Cruise.
