Well, happy Monday! This is Jorge Cruise. It is October 5th, the first Monday of October. Fall is in the air. Halloween is just around the corner. Even though it's COVID-19, I think we have to dedicate this fall to enjoying ourselves and really enjoying our family and knowing that it may be different, but we can make this happen. And on today's show, we're going to kick off a 12-episode series called Ask Big, which has nothing to do with high-intensity interval training. It has nothing to do with intermittent fasting. It has nothing to do with a high-fat, high-protein diet. It has everything to do with your mindset, because I will tell you, your mindset is your advantage in life. And if you want to gain control of your life, you need to have a positive mindset. And it comes with really understanding what causes that is really internal. And so today we're going to be talking about Law Number 1, what I call developing gratitude. So get ready for that. We'll start in a few minutes. Now the show is brought to you by 8 Minutes Live. You guys know that's my site and I'm thrilled to be sponsoring the show because we are actually launching on Friday. The site is opening up. And if you guys have been interested or wanting to work out with me and my circle of ambassadors, these internal people I've been working with all throughout COVID to develop this, it is opening up and we're going to have limited space. We're going to be opening up to 100 people. Interested, all this will be coming out on Friday, and you'll know that we have a whole new pricing structure. It'll make it super affordable for everyone. So you're gonna love that. That's 8minutes, 8, the number 8 minutes with an S, live.com. Check out the website for more information. You're gonna love it. And our brand new, uh, 8-minute class, the masterclass, will be coming out on Friday too. A lot of you signed up for that for free. It is coming on Friday. So I'm thrilled, super excited. We're also brought to you by Primal Kitchen. Primal Kitchen is where I get my avocado oil, which I use whenever I sauté veggies. You know, as much as I eat a high-protein, high-fat diet these days, I do still like carbs. I like the low-toxic carbs. And when I sauté them or make a salad or use it as a dip, I use avocado oil. And I'm thrilled that Primal Kitchen has become such a trusted sponsor of the show. They're giving away a free chipotle lemon mayo with avocado oil to anyone that goes to primalkitchen.com/jorgecruise. That's Jorge Cruise. You get a free chipotle lemon mayo made with avocado oil, which is anti-inflammatory and delicious.
You're going to love it.
We're also brought to you by Joovv. Now, Joovv are the people that I use in the morning when I wake up. You know, I'm up at 4:30. I turn on my Joovv. It's red light therapy. My whole office lights up in red. It literally looks like a nightclub. It looks like burlesque with, remember Cher and Christina Aguilera, the red light and all that? Well, it's my red light, but this has been scientifically proven to improve your mood. If you have mood disorder, especially as it's getting darker now and fall is here, I have that. So I overcome a lot of anxiety and stress with this light. It's also great for your skin. It produces collagen. It removes fine lines. I mean, it goes on and on. Now it's spelled kind of funky. So jot down their website, because if you go to juve.com/jorgecruise, they're going to give you a free gift on purchase. Go to jorge.com/jorge. That's juve, j-o-o-v-v.com/jorge. And that's the promo code, Jorge, on all caps. You'll get a free gift on checkout from them. They're amazing. So with that said, guys, let's get started with today's show. Let's kick it off right now.
Hi, my name is Jorge Cruise, and I'm known as the 8-Minute Life Strategist to the world's busiest celebrities. I've been a fitness, nutrition, and peak performance trainer for over 20 years, and you may have seen my work with Oprah Winfrey, Khloe Kardashian, Tyra Banks, President Clinton, Kelly Clarkson, Dr. Oz, Tony Robbins, or even Steve Harvey. My career started because in my early 20s I had no control of my life, and experts told me I was tired and overweight because I didn't exercise enough, and overate. They were wrong. I discovered that there are fitness shortcuts that would give you control of your life in less time. My passion to find the best science-backed fitness shortcuts has allowed me to write over 30 books and become a multiple New York Times bestselling author with over 9 million books in print. And I know I can help you get control of your life. Welcome to the Jorge Cruise Show.
Today I'm so excited. It's the first Monday of October. Hard to believe it's October. It's my favorite month. For me, I have the greatest time in fall. I love fall.
I love Halloween.
I love all that. With quarantine right now and COVID-19, you know, a lot of that will be different. But I will say this, today marks a really special day because I'm going to be sharing with you 12 laws that I have used over my life to really develop confidence. And if you were to ask me what is the greatest secret out there to having the life of your dreams, where you have control over your life, where you feel physically confident to go out there and say, hey, my health is great, you know, I may have a condition or two, but I feel well, I am well, my doctor says I'm great, and maybe even You have the confidence to put on a bathing suit and feel your best with a flat stomach, a smaller waist circumference. So whether it's good health or whether it's beyond that to physical fitness and being your best, uh, it all starts with what we're going to start today, a series, 12 laws. I call them Ask Big series, and it's really the, the key to long-term success, to thinking fit. It really comes to that base because if you were to ask me over the 20 years of being an author The one thing most clients fight me on, they'll never fight me on diet, they'll never fight me on exercise, but they will say, "Ah, skip it. I don't want to think fit. I don't need that. I don't need positive thinking. I don't like positive thinking. I just want to take action." Well, I'll tell you, you can't take action unless you ask big. You just can't do it. And it comes from asking of yourself to set a new standard. To raise the bar, to change your eating, to embrace things like intermittent fasting, to possibly consider a high-fat, high-protein diet, to consider some carb swaps where you're swapping out most traditional processed carbs for really smart ones, maybe even taking them out all the way, uh, or if it's going to bed on time. You know, for some of us, we just can't get sleep, and it's about letting the alcohol go because the alcohol will break REM sleep. And if you're someone that uses other sleep aids, you may have to let those go as well. So it's about raising the standards. But how do you raise standards. It comes by asking big of yourself. And it's not asking small, it's asking big, B-I-G. It is so important that we have this spark, this passion that comes from asking big. And so I'm going to ask you right now, let's set an intention. I'm going to share with you the first law tonight, but what for you is the big ask you want to ask of yourself when it comes to getting control of your life? If you were to think of yourself right now, is it getting control of your appetite? Is it getting control of your sleep? Is it getting control of your exercise? Is it getting control of your diet, your nutrition? Is it getting control of your mind? Because it is toxic. It is a mindset that is half empty, so to say, like a glass half empty, right? And you know that it is causing others around you to pull back. It's causing you to be in more isolation, and you're just not the happy person you used to be. Think of what you want to ask big and define it tonight. You can text it to me as well. Of course, you can always text me. If you don't have my number, it's 424, jot this down, and you can text it to me right now, area code 424-228-9548, and say, Jorge, here's what I want to ask big. And then stay tuned because this is Night School now. I'm doing a nighttime podcast for the next 12 classes. We're going to be doing sessions, podcasts, whatever you want to call them, where we conquer this ability to think small and to ask small, we're going to, we're going to have the confidence to ask big. And tonight I'm so excited because it's really the first key, the first law to opening the door. And we're going to do an affirmation that will reinforce this at the end. But here is the first law, guys. Jot this down. If you want to write this down in some journal, a yellow pad on your mobile device, jot this down. Law number 1 is called develop Gratitude. I'll say it again. Law number 1 to asking big, to getting the life of your dreams, to getting control of your life is to develop gratitude. Now you may be thinking, Jorge, why does that have to do with me getting something I need in my life? Whether it's more sleep, it's more discipline, it's about a better diet, it's about making better choices. Why does developing gratitude even matter? I'll tell you why. Without gratitude, there's like a door. The door will not open unless you're grateful. If you're someone who is angry, upset, anxious, someone who feels they've been shortchanged during COVID that life is unfair, that life has been difficult before COVID and now it's even worse, and if you do not feel gratitude in your heart, you guarantee the doors to stay closed. If you want to have the life of your dreams, the control of your dreams, where you effortlessly can work out, where you effortlessly eat healthfully, where you effortlessly, uh, do the things you need to do, like go to bed on time. If you want those things to happen, you have to start with gratitude. And if you don't develop this, it's not going to happen. Now it's developing gratitude because gratitude just doesn't happen. It just doesn't happen. As much as you can say, "I'm grateful for my life, I'm grateful for winning the lottery," because if you think about it, your life, our chances of being here, they say are 4 trillion to 1 that we made it here. So being born where your parents were able to conceive you at that exact moment in time proved to us that we're pretty damn lucky, but we have to realize it and say to the world, "Thank you." You know, and it's not about being spiritual. It's just about being grateful inside for what you have. You may be thinking, "Oh, I don't like what I have. This really has been a difficult time in my life. I don't have the love I want. I don't have the finances I want. I don't have the health I want. I've lost control of my life." If that's what you focus in on, that you've lost control of your life, there's no gratitude there. So you've got to say, "Hey, I'm grateful for what I have. And you know, for me, it's always remembering the little things, whether it's your health, even if you don't have great health, you should be grateful for right now for the heart beating in your body. You're like, Jorge, you're going a little far there.
What do you mean?
Well, think about it. You have a heart right now. If I put my hand on my chest, do it with me. Feel the beat. That is a miracle and that heart will not let you down. For the most part, even if you don't do HIIT training, for the most part, if you don't eat a healthful diet, and for the most part, it will beat until you are an age where you're older, hopefully much older than most people, but it will not let you down. You can guarantee that it will be there for the most part tomorrow, and it'll be there again and again and again. Little things like that. Grateful for your breath. If you take a deep breath in with me right now, And let it out. Grateful for your breath. I recently was on a medication that gave me shortness of breath, which was horrible. All last week I didn't work out because I couldn't do it. I could barely teach class. I was short of breath, and I'm a little short of breath right now, but it is night and day right now. I had to get off this medication. It was a medication that I was using to help with, uh, with the possibility of COVID-19, and it did not settle with me at all. It caused me not just shortness of breath, but it gave me all sorts of nausea. It was horrible. And so being off that has given me such gratitude to just have my normal health back, you know? And obviously it's just wearing a mask that we got to do, guys. It's the simple things, being grateful for a mask, you know, little things like that. So I want to ask you right now, what are you grateful for in your life? And I want you to commit to every morning for the next 12 days to write down 5 things you're grateful for, even if it's the 5 5 same things every day. And then say with me, this affirmation is kind of cemented in place. It's a simple affirmation, but it says the following: I will develop gratitude. All right, let's say it 3 times together. It's simple. Here it is. Say it with me. Stand tall, shoulders back, deep breath in. I will develop gratitude. Again, I will develop gratitude. Again, I will develop gratitude.
Why?
Remember guys, it is the key to it all. It's the key to success. It's the key to getting control of your life. If you want a great life, you gotta be grateful. You have to have that gratitude and you have to really feel it. So by saying that 3 times and working on this every single morning, you could do it at night before bed, whatever you want, do both times of the day, you will develop a brand new sense of what and who you are. And this will start shifting your life completely. So in the next 12 days, guys, including the next 11 to come, I'm going to be sharing these tips. We'll take Fridays off because I have guest podcast interviews. This week it's with Dr. Paul Stork. Saladino. I'm so excited. If you guys don't know who Dr. Saladino is, he's the author of The Carnivore Code. He has a new book out. We sat down, we talked about it, we talked about organ meat, we talked about vitamins and minerals and carbs and which carbs are less toxic and which ones are better. So that's all on Friday. But every day except Friday, Monday through Friday, we're going to be talking about asking big. And this series is a nighttime class, so I'm filming these at night I'll release them at night. You can always expect them around 9 o'clock Pacific time, uh, and then you can listen to them whenever you want if you're a night bird, a late, late night bird. I'm going to bed at 10 tonight, so this is my cutoff time, but you can listen to it whenever. This is again Law Number 1 from this series, Ask Big, and it's simple: develop gratitude, my friends. All right, and I hope you'll share today's message, this first law, with your loved ones, especially if someone in in your life that you know, uh, wants more in their life, wants to get that control back in their life, seems to be off course, share this with them because it'll get them back on course. I promise you these 12 steps, these 12 laws will give you truly a life that is magnificent and extraordinary. And that's what we want because life is short as it is. And to settle for a life that you're not happy with, to ask small and have a small life. That's not us. That's not us as a species. We need to, as people, to embrace what we love and to embrace the things that make us happy and passionate. So I hope you'll join me in this 12 Law experience. It's going to be amazing. And tomorrow will be Law Number 2. So please share this with your loved ones. I'll see you tomorrow. Have a great day.
Evening.
All right, happy, uh, first Monday in October, and I'll see you tomorrow on Tuesday. Peace and purpose. Take good care.
