Day 1 video store Gallery RV build out.

Josh Frank is converting an old RV at his Blue Starlight drive-in into Rolling Video, a gallery-store hybrid featuring 50-75 VHS tapes with covers redesigned by artists. The space will have a working CRT player, gallery windows, and theater seating facing the drive-in screen, filling Austin's gap for video rental culture.

Josh Frank here, owner of the Blue Starlight. I'm here today to announce the launch of our next attraction. Something I've been wanting to do for many years, and we're finally in a place to do it. I get to share with you today that we're starting. This is our RV. This has been, been everything over the last 8 years of our business. Currently it is just the side of our sideshow screen. Now we have a new office, which is this beautiful little vintage trailer, and, uh, the inside has just been sitting there empty. So as of today, we are beginning the renovation to turn it into A video store. It's going to be a very special video store, and since Austin currently has no video stores, it will actually be the only video store, at least for now. I hear that our friends at I Love Video are working on getting a nonprofit together, which we're very excited about, but this is something very different. This is going to be a video store gallery, and we are going to feature artists who, from Austin and around the world who reinvent the sleeves of real VHS movies and turn them into art that you can collect. And this will be the gallery video store of those works. And you can come and come to the shop, to our video store, when you are coming as a patron of our drive-in, or you could come in the 45 minutes before the movies start when it's pre-show and just come check it out. You can also rent this out You'll be able to rent out the video store to spend the evening in it, hanging out and watching the movie on our main screen, because this video store will have a viewing window for the drive-in screen with real movie theater seats tucked away so that you can watch the movie surrounded by what we are calling the RV, Rolling Video. We are just launching it. The, the renovation And we've already cleared it out of all the amazing crap that was in there. And, uh, and we're getting started on the renovation. All of these will be turned into gallery windows for the VHSs with spotlights on them all. All of these, all of these nooks, these nooks in the little hallway, they will all be video store racks. But instead of having hundreds of videos, it will be a selection of, say, 50 to 75 videos, um, and, uh, curated by the artists who do the, uh, the artwork on the covers. Um, there will also be a working VHS TV, cathode ray, where you can put the movies in and check them out before buying. Uh, very excited about this new project, something I've had in my head vision for quite some time. And if you know anything about the Blue Starlight, you know we like taking vintage trailers and turning them into crazy things for our drive-in. But in this case, we are taking an old RV and turning it into a rolling video store. Excited to share the progress with you as we move along. See you soon at the Blue Starlight. Drive-in.
