Josh Frank shows off the Rolling Video Store, an RV converted into a mobile video shop and art gallery at Blue Starlight Drive-In in Austin. Each VHS gets custom sleeve art from a featured artist, including limited editions like Ghostbusters Ecto-Cooler and a 1995 horror film Mosquito. The project repurposes vintage media into functional objects and lets customers browse while watching movies on the drive-in screen.

Josh Frank here, owner of the Blue Starlight.
If you know anything about the Blue Starlight, you know we like taking vintage trailers and turning them into crazy things for our drive-in. But in this case, we are taking an old RV and turning it into a rolling video store.
We're at RV the Rolling Video Store, uh, at the beginning stages of this project. It's an Ozzy Mobile video store where you can come and buy tapes with custom sleeves by artists at the Blue Starlight Drive-In in beautiful, sunny East Austin, Texas.
Finishing the build-out, and it's, yeah, a mini boutique video store gallery. And this is our first featured artist. And there's a little— there's gonna be a little seating area here where you can actually see the drive-in movie from the window. And up in each of these will be the featured video designs.
The Ghostbusters Ecto Cooler Edition. And then I also have my custom Boogie Nights, which is rated horny.
Mm-hmm.
And there's your spine label too. I also have Mosquito, B-horror from 1995.
Nice. And these are all custom?
These are all custom done. And then, oh, Rocky IV. I made this notebook out of an old VHS sleeve from the '80s, and the interior, it's lined with '80s porn. This old CDJ one is lined with just old Life magazines with, uh, like ads for stuff. Just ads? Oh, how cool. Oh, this one, this old Baratrons from the '80s, uh, it's a Coca-Cola interior. Very cool.
