Web design needs to work across three device sizes: smartphones (320-480 px), tablets (720-1,000 px), and large screens (1,600-1,900 px). Most high-end clients now browse on these devices instead of traditional desktops, so designers should optimize for all three to match how people actually use the web.

Web design is one of the services that we offer, but there's a lot that's involved in web design. For instance, you have your standard website that's made for desktop PCs, but these days we also have mobile web design, and that's a version of that website designed specifically for smartphones on a much smaller 320 to 480 pixel display. And of course now we have iPads and tablet devices, and those are running 720 to 1,000 pixels, and occasionally for higher-end clients, we're going to design special websites just for tablet devices. And up and coming, we're going to be designing for larger screens, that being designing for clients running 1,600 and 1,900 pixels, so we can optimize layouts for those. This makes a lot of sense because your highest-end clients are either going to be looking at your website via a large, large screen, a tablet device, or a smartphone. It's not common anymore for someone to have a small PC screen. So optimizing for those 3 devices really just makes the most sense.
