come on a solo date with me :)

A creator takes herself on a solo date to an outdoor screening of Kung Fu Panda 4 at Waterloo Park, dressing up and bringing camera gear to document the experience. She navigates pre-date nerves, a bathroom hunt, and the novelty of watching a film outside, rating the outdoor screening a 10/10 compared to a 6/10 at home.

Ah, you guys, I'm vlogging! Oh my gosh, I'm like trying to get back into the groove of things. I used to vlog like non-stop, but I kind of stopped it. I want to get back into it. So today I'm going to be going on a little solo date.
I'm so excited. We're going to be—
or me and you, me and the camera— we're going to be watching a movie outside at the park. I have never watched any movies outside. This is going to be such a fun new experience, and also just like dressing up nicely, and, um, it's just going to be a blast. I will show you guys the fit right now, but yeah, let's, let's go. I'm back in my room, and this is the fit I'm wearing. I have this long black skirt that I got from H&M, I believe. And then I'm wearing this nice little sport— um, no, this little blue top that I thrifted recently. And then I have a little bralette underneath. I usually wear sports bras, so I'm like wearing a nice bralette, which is like different. And this is the back. And yeah, I think this is really cute. I never dress up, you guys. This is like rare occasion, and I'm really glad I'm like dressing up and going on my own because I feel like I'd be really anxious dressing this nicely, like meeting other people. Like this unnecessary tension. Like, I just, yeah, I'd be anxious about that. So I'm glad, like, I'm practicing, like, dressing up nicely on my own without, like, anyone I know. And I just have, like, some, some other stuff. But, uh, yeah, this is the fit. I'll also show you guys what I'm bringing to the movie. I'm gonna be bringing this, um, uh, light. Okay, well, I think I have to charge it, but I'm going to be bringing this little light so if it does get dark, I'll be able to shine it and the camera will be nice. Some like extra batteries for when the camera dies. I'll be bringing like the mic pack for this mic, and then I'm also going to be bringing this towel— or no, this little blanket for to sit on the grass and watch the movie. And I'll be bring everything in this little bag.
By the way, I got it to work. I got it to work, you guys. I just had to like click it. This is so cool.
So I just like put it on this tripod right here.
Frick, folk.
Just put on this tripod and see, it's light.
It's lighter. Yeah, pretty cool.
And I'm going to be like trying it out for the first time.
So fun, fun, fun.
But before I end up going to the movie, I have to do like finish up some work. I have a meeting I have to attend for a club I'm a part of, and then I also have some editing I want to finish off, so I'll do that and then we will head out. Hey guys, so I just finished with my meeting and it's time to finally go.
I'm so excited, you guys. I'm so hyped for it. It's going to be awesome. Terrible things started happening when you walked away.
Hello, you guys. So we made Waterloo Park and now I'm just going to be walking to the location. I don't know where it is yet. I'm going to check the map, but first I'm just going to go to the washroom. Washrooms are closed.
They are closed.
And I don't know what I'm going to do without the washroom. We're going to try to find a washroom. There must be a porta potty somewhere. I'll go anywhere. I did go to a washroom at home too, but yeah, I don't know where the other washrooms are.
So I guess we're, we're going through the movie without going to the washroom once. Okay, that's gonna be fun.
See, we're coming close, but there's actually so many people already. Oh God, this is so terrifying. I really hope I don't see anyone I know here. I really hope I don't. Hello guys, hopefully you can hear me. The movie is about to start. It's going to start at 9 PM, but I got myself all situated right in the middle. I can see the screen and it's not too close. It's also not too far, so it's perfect. I also have a little book I brought. I'm gonna read it a little bit, but yeah, should be good. By the way, guys, we are— I didn't even tell you guys what movie we're watching. So we're watching Kung Fu Panda 4. I haven't seen— I've seen the first one like a long time ago, and I've seen the second one. I don't think I've seen the third one, but yeah, it's just a random movie. I probably wouldn't watch in like theaters, but this is like the only movie that came up, so I was like, why not come to it?
So yeah.
As an elementary and high school student, spending time in my own company is always something I felt uncomfortable with. People would think I was a loser and just had no friends, which was the case back then, but now I don't feel that way anymore. I feel like I'm becoming a lot more loving towards myself, and I've realized that you can have so much fun even on your own. I try to be very positive around everyone all the time, and I think that enthusiasm can be tiresome at some point. Being by myself, I don't have pretend or act like this perfect person. I can just be. And just letting yourself be without having to do is one of the best feelings I experience in my own company. Going on solo dates is the best way to practice your independence and detachment towards others, because learning to detach and learning to be okay with friendships or relationships not working out is the key to having better connections from the get-go.
Luckily, I don't see anyone I know, which that's really good. Mostly just like families with their kids, but it's just really nice like being able to just like be on your own and being okay with it and just like embracing it. I'm just so happy right now, like it's just so nice. Guys, you know what I want to do?
I am going to post this on my story.
It says, "Y'all, I'm on a date. This is big." I'm not lying though, I am on a date.
It's just a solo date, so I'm just gonna do a little— I'm gonna post this, um, and then after that I will promo how I went like on a solo date. So yeah, that's gonna be what I'm gonna do. You guys ready? Okay guys, I posted, I posted! Oh shoot, I'm gonna get so many comments, so many replies like, oh God, no way! Hopefully no one gets Guys, the movie is starting! I'm so excited.
I'm so happy I brought a sweater because it's getting chilly outside, but I will let you guys know what I think of it after it's finished. So yeah. Hey guys, so I'm just walking back home. I'm going to be taking the Aeon train back. The movie just finished, and you guys, it was really cool. I want to rate it a 10 out of 10 only because of the whole experience of it, being outside watching it on the grass with everyone else on the big screen. And even vlogging the whole thing was so much fun. But if I were to have been watching this at home, I'd probably give it like a 6 out of 10. But I'm excited to go back home and start editing this vlog. I think this is going to be the outro, maybe. So if it is, thank you so much for watching this comeback video. I'm excited to post more, and I'll see you guys in the next one.
Oh, it's been a while since I've said that. Okay, bye! You know the story I posted about being on a date? Everyone's like so supportive. Everyone's like, they're so excited for me, and I feel so bad.
I feel so bad now because technically I'm not on a date, but like I I didn't say who I was on a date with.
I'm on a date with me, and that's like, that can be called a date, right? I just really hope people don't get mad because everyone's like replying to my story and like congratulating me. Shoot, I need to release this video like as soon as possible so I can reply to everyone and be like, check out all the fun. This is, this is my date. Shit.
